8 ABS-CBN Programs made it as Finalists in the 2011 New York Festivals Awards

Eight entries from ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation made it as finalists in the prestigious New York Festivals (NYF) International TV and Film Awards 2011, the most number of finalists from the Philippines in this year’s competition. The Philippines will be represented by 12 finalists, 4 of which came from GMA Network.
The most number of nominations among all Philippine entries is the documentary program "Storyline" by Pat Evangelista and Paolo Villaluna which is vying for three categories namely Biography/Profiles, Community Portraits, and Social Issues/Current Events.

"I Survived" hosted by Ces Drilon was named finalist in the Docudrama category while the intense Manila bus siege coverage “Bloodbath in Manila” by ABS-CBN News in August 2010 made it as a finalist in the Coverage of Breaking News category. The promotional spot titled “Altar,” created by ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management for the fire prevention month, was also named finalist for the Copywriting: Promotion Spot category.

Meanwhile, internationally-acclaimed drama "Dahil May Isang Ikaw" starring Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa and the phenomenal fashion series "Magkaribal" topbilled by Gretchen Barretto and Bea Alonzo were among the finalists in the newly-introduced Telenovela category. 

The International Television & Film Awards Show will take place in Las Vegas from April 9-14 in conjunction with the National Association of Broadcasters show. The World’s Best TV & Films™ will be featured in the Showcase section of New York Festivals website and promoted by the network of international representatives in 74 countries. 

The New York Festivals® World’s Best Television & Films™ recognize the “World’s Best Work™” in news, sports, documentary, information and entertainment program as well as in music videos, infomercials, promotion spots, openings and ID’s. Now entering its 54th year, the total number of entries continues to grow, now representing over 35 different countries, making the NYF™ Television & Film Awards one of the most well known and widely respected competitions on the globe.
