Pinay international singing sensation Charice Pempengco won as Favorite Asian Act in the recently concluded Nickelodeon's 2012 Kids' Choice Awards.
Charice beat other asian music acts such as Wonder Girls of Korea (Nobody singer), Yuna of Malaysia and Agnes Monica of Indonesia.
Here is what Nickelodeon Asia said about Charice:
Born and raised in the Philippines, 17-year-old Charice was competing in local singing contests by age 7. Thanks to a fan posting her performances on YouTube, she became an Internet sensation. She’s had a Top 10 iTunes hit and appeared in the KCA-nominated movie ‘Chipwrecked.’ Now, can she add an orange blimp to her credits?
The Favorite Asian Act category is a new addition in Nick's Kids' Choice Awards. Voting culminates last March 31 and the awards night was held at the University of Southern California Galen Center in Los Angeles.
