Paulo Avelino and Julia Montes' controversial rape scene in ABS-CBN's primetime drama Walang Hanggan recently reigned not only in national TV ratings but also in the popular microblogging site Twitter.
The said episode was given an SPG (Strong Parental Guidance) Rating due to the sensitive scenes wherein Nathan forced Katerina to have sex with him. The scene also showed Katerina being punched in the stomach repeatedly by the 'psychotic' Nathan.
According to the latest data of Kantar Media last Wednesday (August 1), the said episode reportedly ranked first in the country's overall top 20 programs, as it garnered 38.7% national TV rating, compared to its rival program in GMA-7, Makapiling Kang Muli, which got 16.7%.
The said episode was also a hot topic in several social networking sites, particularly on Twitter where Julia and Paulo’s characters "Nathan" and "Katerina" made it to the microblogging site's top trending topics.
Meanwhile, in Walang Hanggan, Katerina was able to escape from the hands of her brother, Tomas (Joem Bascon). Will Daniel (Coco Martin) be able to save Katerina from the evil plans of Nathan, Tomas, and Johanna (Melissa Ricks)? Now that Marco (Richard Gomez) and Emily’s (Dawn Zulueta) wedding is getting near, what will Jean/Black Lily (Eula Valdes) do to stop them?
Walang Hanggan airs weeknights after Princess and I on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida.
