Pinoy Pride XVII: Philippines vs The World happened on October 20 at the Mall of Asia Arena and all our Pinoy boxers won their respective fights except for AJ "Bazooka" Banal, who fought for the main event of the evening.
AJ "Bazooka" Banal (28-2-1, 20 KO's) suffered his second career loss at the hands of Pungluang Sor Singyu (43-1, 28 KO's) of Thailand via a round 9 TKO. AJ Banal failed to clinch the vacant WBO bantamweight world title.
Meanwhile, Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista (34-2, 25 KO's) won over Daniel Ruiz (27-6-2, 19 KO's) of Mexico via a split decision for the vacant WBO International featherweight title.
Jason “El NiƱo” Pagara successfully defended his WBO international junior welterweight title against Miguel “Hands of Stone” Antoine (17-1-1, 9 KO's) of Barbados who suffered his first career loss in a first round knock out.
Below are the results of the other undercard bouts on Pinoy Pride XVII:
- Michael “Bruce Lee” Domingo (45-16-2, 24 KO's) stopped Mudde Ntambe Rabison (19-3-1,7 KO's) of Uganda in the second round.
- Marlon “The Nightmare” Tapales (21-1, 7 KO’s) knocked out Indonesia's Rasmanudin (15-3-2, 8 KO's) in round 2.
- Juan Martin "Bai" Elorde won vs Gerry Sismundo via 4th Round TKO
- Randy Bullong knocked out Japanese Kazuma Ijiri in the 4th Round in their first professional bout.
- Val Falcunaya won over Robert Agcopra via 3rd Round TKO
Pinoy Pride XVII: Banal vs Sor Singyu (Philippines vs The World) will be aired on ABS-CBN at 10:15 am.
