The Battle Rounds of The Voice of the Philippines entered its final wave on Saturday (August 17) when the final four pairs of artists competed for the last slot in the teams of coaches Apl de Ap, Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, and Ms. Lea Salonga.
Team Apl's Corazon dela Cruz and Jessica Corpuz battled on the song Makita Kang Muli by Sugarfree from the ABS-CBN sineserye Panday. The two were well-versed with OPM and harmonized really well. Although Jessica has proven her worth as an artist, coach Apl picked Cora, who according to coach Lea was a unique competitor. [Battle video]
Don Michael Perez and John Philip Duka were the last pair of Team Bamboo to set foot on the battle stage. Myk and John jammed on a medley of The Beatles' Hey Jude and Come Together. Bamboo's influence was obvious in their battle. Coach Bamboo loved the soulful voice quality of Myk while he liked how John did his runs, though with some pitch problems. He later chose Myk, who was also the choice of most of the coaches. [Battle video]
The last battles episode also marked Team Sarah's first time to have a triangle fight pitting Klarisse de Guzman, Gab Ramos and Rouxette Swinton against each other. The three faced off in Gotye ft. Kimbra's Somebody That I Used To Know. Klarisse was the obvious stand out in the battle and the one chosen by coach Sarah to advance to the live shows albeit her adviser, Gary V picked Gab. Radha Tinsay and Marissa Saroca of Team Lea went out on a spectacular battle on Aretha Franklin's Respect. Both powerful singers, Radha and Marissa truly delivered a battle show and were given a standing ovation not only by the studio audience but also the coaches. It was the best battle ever, as Robi quipped. However, coach Lea has to choose, and she gave that second chance to Radha. [Battle video]
The Top 24 artists of The Voice PH will proceed to the Live Shows which will start on August 25. Prior to that, highlights of the show and the 'Road to the Live Shows' will first be shown on August 18 and 24 so don't miss The Voice of the Philippines, Saturdays after MMK and Sundays after Rated K.
