31st Luna Awards 2013 Winners | Angel Locsin Wins Best Actress, The Mistress Big Winner

The 31st Luna Awards (2013) happened June 1 and the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) has given 12 Luna trophies to outstanding films and people behind the successful movies of the year.

Star Cinema's The Mistress was big winner of the night, clinching half of the trophies given away. It won Best Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Actor for John Lloyd Cruz, Best Supporting Actor for Ronaldo Valdez and Best Supporting Actress for Hilda Koronel. 

Angel Locsin won Best Actress, her fourth Best Actress trophy for her performance in One More Try. Meanwhile, the last five awards were brought home by El Presidente, including the most coveted Best Picture award.

Four Sisters and A Wedding Official Movie Poster Unveiled

Star Cinema has unveiled the official movie poster of Four Sisters and A Wedding starring Angel Locsin, Bea Alonzo, Toni Gonzaga, Shaina Magdayao and Enchong Dee (check out some behind-the-scenes photos here).

Four Sisters and A Wedding is Star Cinema's first movie offering in celebration of its 20th anniversary. The romantic comedy is also the first movie to bear the 20th anniversary logo of film outfit Star Cinema.

Aside from Angel, Toni, Shaina, Bea and Enchong, Four Sisters and A Wedding also features veteran actress Coney Reyes with the special participation of Vangie Labalan, Janus Del Prado, Carmi Martin, Angeline Quinto and Sam Milby.

Directed by box-office director Cathy Garcia-Molina, Four Sisters and A Wedding is expected to hit Philippine theaters this June 2013.

Boy Abunda Gives Marriage Advice to Angel and Vhong in 'Toda Max' (May 25)

Preparations for the wedding of the characters of Angel Locsin (Isabel) and Vhong Navarro (Justin) in the hit sitcom “Toda Max” are now underway. But before anything else, Isabel and Justin must undergo counseling to ensure that they are ready for marriage.

In this Saturday’s (May 25) episode of “Toda Max,” the King of Talk Boy Abunda will serve as marriage counselor to Justin and Isabel. The couple will recall their cute love story. Boy will also touch on Justin’s love-hate relationship with Isabel’s father, ‘Tay Mac (Al Tantay).

Unavoidably, Justin and Isabel’s past relationships will be discussed. Justin will also admit to being jealous of Phil (Phil Younghusband), Dr. Milby (Sam Milby) and  Dino (Anjo Yllana), while Isabel will confess to being jealous of Maimai (Kim Chiu), Jodie (Jodi Sta. Maria) and Weida (Rufa Mae Quinto).

Angel Locsin and Vhong Navarro 'Bed Scene' in Toda Max Airs May 18

Tay Mac (Al Tantay) is shocked to find his daughter Isabel (Angel Locsin) and her boyfriend Justin (Vhong Navarro) in each other’s arms while lying in bed this Saturday’s (May 18) episode of the award-winning sitcom “Toda Max.” 

Could there have been something more than just a tight embrace, as ‘Tay Mac suspects? Will Justin take the responsibility for Isabel?

Meanwhile, Madam K (K Brosas), who was the fiercest rival of Lady G (Pokwang) in the election for Beverly Gils councilor, returns to take her revenge on Lady G. Madam K insists that Lady G won as councilor because she cheated. Will Madam K prove her accusations against Lady G?

Justin, on the other hand, is worried since Lady G already gave him a deadline to pay his debts. Madam K offers Justin financial help in return for pretending to be a witness against Lady G. Will Justin accept Madam K’s offer?

Four Sisters and A Wedding BTS Photos - Angel, Bea, Toni and Shaina Movie

In Four Sisters and A Wedding, Angel, Bea, Toni and Shaina, as well as Enchong will be playing the role of siblings with Coney Reyes as their mother. According to reports Four Sisters and A Wedding is a family dramedy (combination of drama and comedy).

Angel Locsin and Paulo Avelino Pair Up in ABS-CBN Teleserye

Fans clamor for Angel Locsin's primetime TV comeback and this year, the long wait will be over as the award-winning actress will soon start taping for a new ABS-CBN teleserye.

The said project, with a working title Ang Huling Sayaw will reportedly pair Angel Locsin with Paulo Avelino. Rory Quintos, who also directed Angel in the remake of Korean series Only You, has been tapped to direct the said teleserye.

According to reports, the Angel-Paulo teleserye will be a romance drama. The story has not been finalized yet but names of some cast members have been dropped such as Andi Eigenmann, Rio Locsin and Christopher de Leon.

It has been more than two years since Angel Locsin was last seen in a teleserye. Her last primetime television project was Imortal, the sequel of internationally acclaimed series Lobo (She-Wolf: The Last Sentinel) where she played the character of a she-wolf. Meanwhile, Paulo Avelino came from the success of Walang Hanggan (My Eternal) and Kahit Konting Pagtingin.

Although many wanted to see Angel in an action-drama series, this upcoming teleserye will still excite fans with an ensemble of award winners joining the cast.

Angel Locsin Celebrates Birthday and FAMAS Win on 'Toda Max' with Phil Younghusband

Toda Max production staff gave Angel Locsin a surprise party recently to celebrate her 27th birthday as well as her victory in the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) where she clinched the Best Actress Award.

Angel’s boyfriend, Phil Younghusband, also surprised her as he attended and joined the party.

After the fun and merriment, Angel and the entire staff went back to taping to prepare for another fun-filled episode of the weekend sitcom. This Saturday (April 27) in “Toda Max,” watch as Isabel (Angel Locsin) finally graduates from nursing school.

But before she nurses real patients, Isabel must first take care of her classmate Carly Crawford (Nikki Gil) who feels disheartened because Carly’s parents who live abroad aren’t sure if they can make it to her graduation day.

As the big day approaches, Isabel realizes she’s in bigger trouble because she hasn’t paid for her toga, yearbook, college ring and other fees required to be settled in order for her to graduate.

Can Isabel attend her graduation rites when her father Tay Mac (Al Tantay) does not have enough money to pay the fees? Can Carly’s parents grant her wish to appear on the day she will receive her diploma? Don’t miss “Toda Max” this Saturday (April 27) after “Maalaala Mo Kaya” on ABS-CBN.

61st FAMAS Awards 2013 Winners: Angel Locsin is Best Actress

Angel Locsin won the Best Actress trophy at the 61st FAMAS Awards (2013) held on April 21 at the AFP Theater. The Kapamilya actress was recognized for her performance in the MMFF 2012 Best Picture One More Try from which also gave her the Star Awards for Movies Best Actress trophy.

Meanwhile, FAMAS Best Actor award went to ER Ejercito for the movie El Presidente which was the big winner of the night bagging 12 awards including Best Picture, Best Director for Mark Meily, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for Cesar Montano.

Angel Locsin on Working with Angelica Panganiban Again: "Huwag muna natin pag-usapan"

Angel Locsin avoids discussing her alleged rift with One More Try co-star Angelica Panganiban. The two-time Star Awards for Movies Best Actress however denied that the said rift was the reason why Angelica Panganiban is no longer part of their supposed film with Bea Alonzo and Toni Gonzaga which starts shooting soon.

"Naisip ko nga no, parang nagkaron nga ng kulay ngayon. Pero hindi namin iniisip kasi hindi kami ganon magisip kapag may katrabaho ka. Basta kami masaya lang kami, excited lang kami na bigyan kami ng trabaho,” Angel told Push.com.ph.

The gap between Angel and Angelica allegedly stemmed from an incident while filming for their MMFF 2012 entry. Rumors said that Angel was badly hurt after Angelica slapped and pulled her hair in the movie's confrontation scene.

Angel told the website that she and Angelica have not met until now and will not elaborate more about her working relationship with the Apoy Sa Dagat lead star since it will not do good on both parties.

When asked if she is willing to work with Angelica again, Angel replied: "Huwag na muna natin pagusapan."

Meanwhile, Angelica Panganiban was replaced by Shaina Magdayao in the upcoming Star Cinema movie. Enchong Dee will also be part of the movie. The cast had their story conference recently and Angel said she's very excited to start shooting for the film which will be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

"Nung binabasa ko 'yung script, konsepto pa lang parang ang saya-saya panoorin. Makaka-relate ang mga tao. Ang magkakapatid kasi kahit gaano kaiba ang personalities, mayroon pa ring similarities. Paano kaya namin ito gagawin? Na-imagine ko na talaga. Ang ganda," she said.

Coco Martin and Gretchen Barretto in a 'May-December Love Affair' Movie Concept

Gretchen Barretto and Coco Martin might be working together in a movie sometime soon. In her interview with ABS-CBN showbiz oriented talk show The Buzz on Sunday, Gretchen said that she's open to work with Coco in a movie project.

Coco, according to Gretchen is trying to conceptualize a script about  a May-December love affair where they can again work together. It can be recalled that Gretchen had a guesting in Coco Martin's action drama series Juan Dela Cruz recently.

"Hindi ko pa naiisip iyon pero I’m flattered para maisip ni Coco iyon gawin with me," she said. 

"Lahat ng mga proyekto na dumating sa akin, puro magaganda. Basta na lang nahulog sa akin. So I feel like if we are meant to do a movie with Coco, I’d gladly do it," she added.

Aside from Coco, Gretchen Barretto said that she wanted to work with different actors, more especially those who she haven't work with yet. Gretchen, took her guesting in Toda Max as an example where she will work with most of the cast for the first time.

"Para sa akin, gusto ko makatrabaho lahat ng puwede ko pang hindi nakakatrabaho, mga hindi ko pa nakakasama," she said. "On Tuesday, I’m taping for ‘Toda Max’ and for the first time I’ll be working with Angel Locsin. I’m really looking forward to it, with Pokwang and Vhong Navarro. Gusto ko makilala lahat," she revealed.

There have been no confirmations yet on Gretchen's follow up project after Princess and I but there are reports that she might do the cancelled Alta which ABS-CBN is now resurrecting.

29th PMPC Star Awards for Movies 2013 Winners

The 29th PMPC Star Awards for movies awarding ceremonies happened March 10, 2013 at the AFP Theater in Quezon City. The awards night was hosted by Iza Calzado, Kim Chiu and Piolo Pascual.

Angel Locsin won Best Actress for her performance in the MMFF 2012 Best Picture One More Try, scoring a back to back Best Actress win at the PMPC Star Awards for Movies. Last year, she was also hailed as Best Actress for the movie In the Name of Love. 

Meanwhile, El Presidente was the big winner of the night, clinching several awards including Movie of the Year, Best Director for Mark Meily and Best Actor for ER Ejercito.

In the indie movie category, Alagwa was a runaway winner with a grab on the Movie of the Year, Best Child Actor for Bugoy Cariño and Best Screenwriter and Best Director for Ian Loreños.

The PMPC Star Awards honors the best Filipino movies of 2012 and is composed of mainstream and independent film categories. The awards night will be aired on March 17 at 10:45 pm on ABS-CBN Sunday's Best.
