Iza Calzado to Replace Busy Anne Curtis in It's Showtime?

Posted on January 30, 2014 | 2:17 PM

Actress Iza Calzado will be joining ABS-CBN noontime show It's Showtime. According to the actress, she will be a guest co-host on the show starting February 1 although she still yet to confirm whether she will be regular on the show.

Iza Calzado to replace busy Anne Curtis in It's Showtime?

"Wala pang official confirmation, but I’ll be guest host there this Saturday," Iza told reporters at the press conference for The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles which will premiere this February 3 on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.

With Anne starting to get busy with the taping of Dyesebel, many are now asking whether Iza will serve as Anne's replacement in the show for the meantime. Anne's new fantaserye will be taping in Palawan and it will be a hassle for her to fly back and forth for the noontime show which airs daily.

"Hindi na po ako makakasama sa Sana Bukas Pa ang Kahapon as I’ll focus muna on Biggest Loser then I'l still have [the movie I did with Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga] Starting Over Again that opens on February 12." Iza said.

"Meron naman po akong ibang gagawin pero, hindi ko muna po sasabihin kung ano 'yun, dito muna tayo sa The Biggest Loser," she added.

According to reports, Iza was replaced in Bea Alonzo's upcoming teleserye because her contract states that she will have to be the lead star of the teleseryes she will be doing. Iza, though, didn't mind playing support to Bea when she was asked about the project.

Do you like Iza to be a regular host in It's Showtime? Well, the girl has already some background in hosting a noontime show, being part of Eat Bulaga back when she was still in GMA-7.

Anne Curtis Renews Contact with ABS-CBN; Starts Taping for Dyesebel in Palawan

Actress-host Anne Curtis signed another two-year contract with ABS-CBN on Wednesday (January 29) shortly after her stint on noontime show It's Showtime.

Anne Curtis Renews Contact with ABS-CBN; Starts Taping for Dyesebel

"It just goes to show that you have found family, and that they'll always have faith in you no matter what and give you a chance. I'm so grateful that ABS-CBN and the whole management team na nandito pa rin sila para sa akin at may gano'ng faith pa rin, so thank you so much for another two years," said Anne.

Present on the contract signing were ABS-CBN Chairman Eugenio Lopez III, President Charo Santos-Concio, Channel Head Cory Vidanes, TV Production Head Laurenti Dyogi, and Business Unit Heads Riley Santiago and Deo Endrinal and Viva Entertainment representative, Veronique del Rosario-Corpus.

According to Anne, the two-year deal includes co-hosting It's Showtime and one TV series each year, including Dyesebel, which starts taping in Coron, Palawan by the end of the week.

Dyesebel, helmed by Don Cuaresma and Francsi Xavier Pasion under Dreamscape Entertainment, will be this year's biggest fantaserye boasting of a powerhouse cast which includes Ai Ai delas Alas, Dawn Zulueta, Eula Valdes, Gerald Anderson, Sam Milby, Gabby Concepcion, Neil Coleta, Young JV, David Chua, Bangs Garcia, and Ogie Diaz.

Andi Eigenmann, who will play as Anne's rival in the series, is the latest addition to the cast (read more here).

Film and TV director Chito Roño, Vhong Navarro's manager, told ABS-CBN News in a statement that the incident happened Wednesday (January 22). According to Direk Chito, a female friend invited Vhong to visit her in her condominium in Fort Taguig.

When Vhong entered the condo's premises, he was allegedly blindfolded, tied and beaten up by several men. The suspects also threatened Vhong and tried to extort money from him.

Vhong, the report said, was unable to detail the incident because he still can't speak properly. The authorities are still yet to find out the motives behind the attack.

Because of the severe injuries he got, Vhong might undergo surgical operation. While recuperating, the 37-year-old comedian will be temporarily absent on It's Showtime and on his other showbiz commitments.

Here is Chito Roño's full statement:

"Si Vhong Navarro ay naimbitihan sa isang condominium unit sa Fort ng isang kaibigang babae. At sa di pa malamang kadahilanan, siya ay piniringan, pinagtulungang bugbugin, ginapos, tinakot, at hinihingan ng pera ng isang grupo ng kalalakihan noong January 22, Miyerkules.

"Si Vhong ay kasalukuyang nagpapagaling at mawawala ng pansamantala sa 'It's Showtime' at iba pa niyang proyekto."

Terrence Romeo Kalokalike in 'I Am Pogay' Makes Vice Ganda Blush

Posted on January 20, 2014 | 3:27 PM

Ace comedian Vice Ganda was grilled on It's Showtime Monday during the I Am Pogay segment because of one contestant who looks like his rumored boyfriend Terrence Romeo, a former FEU varsity player and now playing for PBA's GlobalPort.

Terrence Romeo kalokalike Gray Nerona

Vice Ganda lost his concentration when I Am Pogay contestant Franco 'Gray' Nerona introduced himself and showcased his singing talent on stage. His co-hosts Billy Crawford and Vhong Navarro couldn't help but tease Vice Ganda because of the similarities of the contestant and Terrence Romeo.

"Ngayon ko lang nakita na nag-blush si Vice," hurado Jett Pangan commented right after the madlang pipol requested for a nose-to-nose between Vice Ganda and the I Am Pogay contestant who is obviously a kalokalike of Terrence.

Because of what happened in the segment, Terrence Romeo trended on twitter, as well as Vice. Apparently, netizens knew about what's going on and associated it with the PBA cager, who was once rumored as Vice's "babe."

During the recap and announcement of winners, Vice Ganda mentioned the name of the contestant followed by the term "3 points" suggesting that it was indeed the basketball player they were talking about.

The contest resulted in a tie which means that the Terrence Romeo-kalokalike, Franco 'Gray' Nerona will be back in the weekly finals of I Am Pogay.

After the show, Vice Ganda tweeted "Kalurkzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!" as his way of saying how he was startled with what transpired in the noontime show.

Vice Ganda Pogay

"Marami na tayong contest showcasing ang mga magagandang bading pero wala yung para sa mga poging bading. So ito yun, I am Pogay," host Vice Ganda said. "Pati 'yung mga paminta diyan, mag-out na kayo at sumali sa I am Pogay," Anne Curtis added.

The first teasers for I am Pogay showed a man with chocolate abs getting dressed. He then held a rose flower in his mouth ala lover boy before revealing that he was actually gay, putting the flowers in his ear and giving a meaningful wink.

Vice Ganda signed a three-year contract with ABS-CBN

According to the comedian, aside from hosting his own Sunday night talk show “Gandang Gabi Vice” and noontime show “It’s Showtime,” he will also do one or two movies this year. “I want to offer something new to the public. I want to do an action-comedy movie soon.” he said.

Meanwhile, when asked if he demanded for a talent fee increase after his sold-out “I-Vice Ganda Mo ‘Ko Sa Araneta” concert last May and blockbuster movie “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy” in December, Vice Ganda laughed then answered, “They just gave me what I deserved.”
