Janine Tugonon Guests in FOX5 Las Vegas Talk Show, Does a Commercial for Australian Gold

Miss Universe-Philippines Janine Tugonon guested on FOX5, a local channel in Las Vegas with Miss USA, Olivia Culpo. The two beauties talked about an art auction, proceeds of which will be used to help children who can't afford attending to their medical needs.

Meanwhile, Janine Tugonon was also picked to do a commercial shoot for Australian Gold, a brand of outdoor sunscreen SPF lotion. The commercial was shot 1960's style and Janine was seen having fun and even dancing in the sun along with other Miss Universe contestants. Janine, who is the front image in the official YouTube video, is the only Asian candidate appearing in the said commercial.

Janine Tugonon National Costume in Miss Universe 2012 is Tribal-Inspired

The Miss Universe 2012 National Costume show (parade of nations) happened December 14 (December 15, MLA time) at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

The 89 candidates showcased their ethnicity and creativity through the colorful costumes paraded during the event. Miss Universe-Philippines Janine Tugonon wore a sparkly silver and maroon tribal inspired national costume, a breath of fresh air from the usual terno our candidates used to wear on the pageant.

Take a look at Janine Tugonon's national costume below. According to reports, it was designed by a Filipino designer unlike previous national costumes of Philippine candidates which were Columbian-made. By the look of the dress, we can only infer that it came from the collection of national artist Pitoy Moreno.

Yesterday, Janine competed during the Miss Universe 2012 preliminary competition and she wowed the crowd with her Cobra Walk (check out the full video here). Her sterling performance in the preliminaries boosted her chances to be called as a semifinalists come coronation night in December 19 (to be aired via satellite December 20 at 9:30 AM on ABS-CBN).

Live Stream: Miss Universe 2012 National Costume Show

The Miss Universe 2012 National Costume presentation (parade of nations) is happening live at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 14, 8:00 PM (December 15 at 12 noon, Manila time).

The 89 candidates of Miss Universe 2012 will be showcasing the best of their countries wearing their national costumes. Although the presentation will have no bearing on the scores, the show will be worth watching as it features ethnicity and creativity of each country.

Video: Miss Guyana Falls on Stage During the Miss Universe 2012 Prelims

Miss Guyana, Ruqayyah Boyer fell on stage during the Miss Universe 2012 preliminary competition held Thursday night (Friday morning in Manila) at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Miss Guyana was confidently walking the runway wearing her sexy blue evening gown when she accidentally slipped through the center aisle, falling on stage ala Miriam Quiambao. Miss Guyana, however, stood up with grace and continue walking as if nothing happened.

Will Miss Guyana Ruqayyah Boyer achieved another Miriam Quiambao feat who after falling at the Miss Universe 1999 preliminaries managed to land a spot at the semifinals and eventually became first runner up? We'll see on the 19th. Meanwhile, below is the video of Miss Guyana's fall.

Miss Universe-Philippines Janine Tugonon was a stand-out during the Miss Universe 2012 preliminary competition which happened December 13 (December 14, MLA time) at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Janine effectively worked the crowd with her signature strut called Cobra Walk which was described by beauty queen Joyce Burton-Titular as a "fast criss-cross walk with a slight shoulder shake and a pivot that will render you hypnotized."

With Janine's sterling performance during the Miss Universe 2012 preliminaries (the swimsuit and evening gown rounds, including the interviews which according to Jonas Gaffud was also nailed by Janine), a Top 5 finish all the way to the crown is not at all impossible.

Janine Tugonon Stuns in Her Swimsuit for Miss Universe 2012 Prelims

The Miss Universe 2012 Preliminary competition happened December 13 (December 14 MLA time) at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. The 89 candidates sashayed with their evening gowns and swimsuits all to capture the judges' eyes.

Miss Universe-Philippines Janine Tugonon was glowing even at the start when the candidates got to introduce themselves. She was most applauded in her pink cocktail dress along with Misses Puerto Rico, Mexico and USA.

Janine earlier surprised everyone with her cobra walk wearing a powder blue gown (see photos and video here). She once again captured the world with her radiance wearing a blue Kooey Australia swimsuit.

On December 15 (around 12 noon, Manila time), the candidates will be back on stage to showcase their National Costumes. Meanwhile, here is Janine Tugonon during the preliminary swimsuit competition of Miss Universe 2012.

Janine Tugonon Wears a Powder Blue Gown in Miss Universe 2012 Prelims, Applauded by Crowd

Miss Universe-Philipines Janine Tugonon surprised everyone with her cobra walk wearing a powder blue flowy gown during the Miss Universe 2012 preliminary competition on December 13 (December 14 MLA time). Watch Janine during the preliminary swimsuit competition.

Janine Tugonon, along with Misses Mexico, Karina Gonzalez and USA, Olivia Culpo were the most-applauded during the introduction of candidates, very much like a boxing match.

Here is a peek at Janine Tugonon's evening gown for Miss Universe 2012 preliminary competition. According to reports, the gown is another Alfredo Barraza creation, a Columbian designer who used to dress our representatives to the said pageant.

The Miss Universe 2012 Preliminary competition is happening live at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino on December 13 7:30 PM (December 14 around 11:30 AM Manila time).

The 89 candidates of Miss Universe 2012 will strut the runway of Planet Hollywood wearing their swimsuits and evening gowns. The preliminary judges will be scoring the contestants and the combined scores from the event and the interviews will be the basis for determining the Miss Universe 2012 Top 16 (one being the winner of online voting) which will be announced in the pageant's coronation night on December 19.

Tomorrow, December 15, around 11:30 AM (Manila time), the 89 contestants will return on stage for the National Costume presentation.

3. If the world was going to end tomorrow, what is one crazy thing you would do?

Step 2: Click on "vote" below her profile.

Step 3: Enter your first name, last name, e-mail address and code. Check the “I am at least 13 years old and accept the vote rules” box.

It's that simple. The online voting will be held until December 18, a day before the coronation night.

Shamcey Supsup to Host Miss Universe 2012 Web Coverage

Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner up Shamcey Supsup will be hosting the internet coverage of Miss Universe 2012 happening in Las Vegas, Nevada this December.

The news was confirmed last Tuesday by Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. head Stella Marquez de Araneta during the send-off ceremonies for Janine Tugonon, this year's Philippine bet to the said pageant.

Shamcey Supsup received an invitation via e-mail from the Miss Universe organization to host the web-based components of the competition, which she found suspicious at first, until BPCI, which also received the same, confirmed that it was a legitimate correspondence.

It is not yet clear whether Shamcey will be given an exposure during the coronation night on December 19 at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino but for now, she was told she would host the online coverage on the pageant’s official website, which would involve the preliminary competition, the national costume competition, as well as other activities. As a segment host, Shamcey will have the chance to interview the Miss Universe 2012 delegates prior to the finals.

Madame Stella Marquez-Araneta said Miss Universe viewers should expect more of Shamcey on the Internet and she is hoping that her presence will also help Janine Tugonon’s chances of taking home the crown.

As for Shamcey, who will leave for Las Vegas on December 13, being a backstage host for the Miss Universe is a huge privilege and honor since not everyone gets a second experience with the world's most popular pageant. She admitted, though that she's quite nervous, what with the added pressure of hosting the events.

Shamcey's feat is again one proud moment for Filipinos. Last year, Filipina international star Lea Salonga seated as one of the judges during the finals night of the Miss Universe pageant.
