Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III will deliver his 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA 2013)  from Batasang Pambansa Complex in Batasan Hills, Quezon City on July 22, 2013. You can watch the SONA through the live stream below.

In his 4th SONA, PNOY is expected to present his achievements for the past three years of being the Philippines' head of state, as well as his plans for the remaining years of his term.

2013 Philippine Holidays: Expect 4 Long Weekends

The MalacaƱang Palace has announced the list of nationwide holidays for 2013 through Proclamation No. 459, s. 2012 signed by Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III declaring regular holidays, special non-working holidays and special holiday for schools
List of Philippine Holidays for 2013

Filipinos can expect at least 4 long weekends this year as indicated by the official holidays. The number of long weekends can possibly increase after the proclamations declaring national holidays for the observance of Eid’l Fitr and Eidul Adha has been issued. The approximate dates of the Islamic holidays will be determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient. 

Here is the list of official Philippine Holidays for 2013:

  • Maundy Thursday – March 28
  • Good Friday – March 29
  • Araw ng Kagitingan – April 9 (Tuesday)

With millions of units sold, the Kindle is the most widely used e-book reading device. And with over one million titles in its library, the Kindle Store is the largest bookstore of its kind in the world.

Juan Ponce Enrile, A Memoir Now Available for Digital Download

Released last September, the much talked-about Enrile memoir sold out in just two days and is currently on its third reprint. With the announcement of its availability on the Kindle, readers from all over the world will finally have the convenience of getting the book wherever they are. Priced at $19.99, the e-book edition can be downloaded in minutes and transferred to one’s gadget of choice.

Aside being viewed from the Kindle device, once purchased the e-book can be viewed on Apple’s iPhone, iTouch, iPad, Blackberry, Android, and web browsers using the Kindle Reading App which can be downloaded for free.

ABS-CBN Publishing is also expected to announce the launch of the Enrile Memoir on the Apple iBookstore within the next few days.

ABS-CBN Partners with COMELEC to Offer Halalan 2013 Application for Android

Filipinos can now get election-related news and information such as precinct locations and voter registration status anytime and anywhere using their Android phones as ABS-CBN launches the new COMELEC Halalan 2013 application, now available for download via the Play Store.

A first of its kind in the country, the COMELEC Halalan 2013 application was developed by ABS-CBN in partnership with the Commission on Elections (Comelec). It allows voters to check the status of his/her registration and eligibility to vote via the “Registration Verification”.

Citizens can also find their precinct or polling place in the application.

Meanwhile, first time voters will be guided thoroughly as the application also provides pertinent details and information regarding the elections, such as what to bring during registration in its “Halalan 101” feature.

Other than providing practical voter guide and information, the COMELEC Halalan 2013 app also offers election-related news from abs-cbnNEWS.com and updates from www.mycomelec.tv.

Citizen journalists may also submit citizen journalism reports with photos or videos via the Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo (BMPM) feature of the app.

ABS-CBN continues to improve the application’s features and will soon release updates to include additional functionalities such as a list of candidates for national and local positions including party-list organizations, and “Election Results,” which will provide the progress of vote tabulation from sources authorized by COMELEC.

To download, open Play Store on your Android devices and search for COMELEC created by ABS-CBN Interactive. Click ‘install’ and enjoy the services of this breakthrough application.

The IOS version of the application will be launched soon.
