The X Factor Philippines 4th Live Results Show Elimination Night: Modesto Taran Eliminated!

Posted on August 26, 2012 | 10:13 PM

The X Factor Philippines fourth Live Results Show (elimination night) happened August 26, 2012 and it was Modesto Taran who got the boot after a night of tribute to late music icons on Saturday evening.

Modesto Taran eliminated on the 4th live results show elimination night of The X Factor Philippines, August 26
Modesto Taran (over 25's) is the fourth finalist to be eliminated from The X Factor Philippines. From last week's controversial elimination of girl group A.K.A. JAM, tonight's elimination was well-received by fans, except for the inclusion of Kedebon in the Top 8.

Mang Modesto was joined by Takeoff in the bottom two lowest text and online vote getters. This is the first time that Mang Modesto fall at the bottom two while this is the second time for group Takeoff (also the second time they had survived elimination, the first one in lieu of Mark Mabasa).

The two had a sing-off for survival and Modesto Taran took on another Lou Rawls song titled You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine while Takeoff rendered Flying Without Wings by boy band Westlife.

All the three judges who first cast their votes, Gary Valenciano, Pilita Corrales and Charice booted Modesto Taran out, the first time that a mentor voted to eliminate his/her own talent. Pilita Corrales thanked Modesto for making her proud but they all agreed that its time for Modesto to go home back to his family. Judge Martin Nievera did not have the chance to cast his vote after majority votes favored Takeoff.

Perhaps, this is the easiest night for the judge-mentors in choosing who to eliminate after three weeks of tough decision-making.

Now, we are down to The X Factor Philippines Final 8. Who among
  • Allen Jane Sta. Maria
  • Daddy's Home
  • Joan Da
  • Jeric Medina
  • Gabriel Maturan
  • KZ Tandingan
  • Kedebon Colim
  • Takeoff
will showcase another amazing performance on next week's Saturday live show and who will be on the verge of elimination come Sunday's results night? Don't miss The X Factor Philippines every Saturday after MMK and on Sundays after Sarah G Live.

Modesto Taran opened the night with a good rendition of Pure Imagination by Lou Rawls. He was followed by Daddy's Home with Whitney Houston's All At Once. Allen Sta. Maria then paid tribute to Lisa Lopes of TLC with a 'swag' version of the group's Waterfalls. All three received positive reviews from the judges.

Jeric Medina performed an Elvis Presley hit but did not impressed the judges much followed by Joan Da who sang Aaliyah. Kedebon Colim gave an energetic performance of Yugyugan Na but the judges were unanimous in saying that he's losing the notes.

Meanwhile, Takeoff took harmony to the next level and got the approval of the judges with a hair-raising version of Selena's Dreaming of You. KZ Tandingan also received praises for her flawless Rehab performance. Gabriel Maturan gave justice to Luther Vandross' Dance With My Father with a very emotional performance, the best of the night.

The X Factor Philippines Top 9 Pays Tribute to Late Music Icons this August 25

Another exciting performance will be showcased in the 4th Live Show of  The X Factor Philippines this Saturday, August 25 as the Top 9 finalists again take PAGCOR's center stage.

Last week, we were treated with rock performances which also saw the controversial elimination of one of the best contestants, A.K.A. JAM. Many were disappointed with the voting public and the judge-mentors but all that just created excitement for the finalists' next performances.

The X Factor Philippines Final 9 theme: Tribute to late music icons (August 25)

With A.K.A. JAM being booted out and with the public's reaction, we have now a greater chance of having a wildcard event in the country's number 1 talent-reality search.

This week, The X Factor Philippines Top 9 will pay tribute to music icons who passed away, singing their most-loved hits. We can expect at least, songs by Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Elvis Presley and hopefully, OPM icons.

Don't miss The X Factor Philippines this Saturday, August 25 as KZ Tandingan and Allen Sta. Maria from the girls category, Gabriel Maturan, Kedebon Colim and Jeric Medina from the boys, Joan Da and Modesto Taran from the over 25's and Takeoff and Daddy's Home from the groups do another grand showcase of talents.

What do you think your favorites will be singing come Saturday's performance show?

The X Factor Philippines 3rd Live Results Show Elimination Night: A.K.A. JAM Eliminated!

Posted on August 19, 2012 | 10:20 PM

The X Factor Philippines third Live Results Show (elimination night) happened August 19, 2012 and it was A.K.A. JAM  who got the boot after last night's rock performances.

A.K.A. JAM eliminated on the 3rd live results show elimination night of The X Factor Philippines, August 19

A.K.A. JAM is the third finalist to be eliminated from The X Factor Philippines after Jerrianne Mae Templo (girls) and Mark Mabasa (over 25's). The group was joined by Daddy's Home in the bottom two lowest text and online vote getters, the first time this season that both the bottom two came from the wings of only one mentor.

The two had a sing-off for survival and Daddy's Home rendered Rey Valera's hit song Maging Sino Ka Man while A.K.A. JAM performed Tamia's Missing You.

Charice and Martin Nievera voted Daddy's Home to go while Pilita Corrales booted A.K.A. JAM out. The decision was left with their mentor, Gary Valenciano and he opted for another deadlock by voting A.K.A. JAM out so that the decision will be in the hands of the voters. Unfortunately, it was A.K.A. JAM  who got the lowest number of audience votes (4.42% compared to 5.53% of Daddy's Home).

It was another hard time for the judge-mentors, especially to Gary Valenciano, because both finalists truly deserve to stay at this point of the competition. A.K.A. JAM and Daddy's Home are among the best acts this season.

Now, we are down to The X Factor Philippines Final 9. Who among
  • Takeoff
  • KZ Tandingan
  • Modesto Taran
  • Jeric Medina
  • Gabriel Maturan
  • Joan Da
  • Kedebon Colim
  • Allen Jane Sta. Maria
  • Daddy's Home

Judge-Mentors Charice and Pilita Corrales Hanging on with Two Remaining Acts

Posted on August 17, 2012 | 3:56 PM

Judge-mentors Charice and Pilita Corrales are now tied in having only two contestants as mentees in the competition as the biggest musical event “The X Factor Philippines” trims down the top 12 finalists every week.

The X Factor Philippines Poster

Charice was the first to bid goodbye to her mentee Jerrianne Templo from the Girls and just last Sunday (Aug 12) and Pilita also said farewell to one of her mentee from the Over 25s, Mark Mabasa. Mark and all male group Takeoff were at the bottom two last week and the judges were split on their decisions. Since the judges were at deadlock, the public votes sent Mark home who got 3.72% of votes vs Takeoff’s 3.90%.

Ten remaining acts battle it out this week in another intense musical showdown with the theme rock and roll. Be sure to save your favorites from being in the bottom two and vote for them after they all perform on Saturday (Aug 18) night.

To vote, text XF<space>JERIC/GAB/KED/ALLEN/KZ/TAKE/DAD/JAM/JOAN/MOD and send to 2331 for Globe and Sun subscribers and 231 for Smart and Talk ‘n Text subscribers.

The X Factor Philippines 2nd Live Results Show Elimination Night: Mark Mabasa Eliminated!

Posted on August 12, 2012 | 10:05 PM

The X Factor Philippines second Live Results Show (elimination night) happened August 12, 2012 and it was Mark Mabasa who got the boot.

Last night, The X Factor Philippines Final 11 performed for the audience votes where all of them got good reviews from the judge/mentors. Out of the 11, Mark Mabasa (over 25's) and Takeoff (groups) got the lowest number of votes and had to sing for their survival in the show.
Mark Mabasa eliminated on the 2nd Live results show elimination night of The X Factor Philippines, August 12

Mark Mabasa performed James Ingram's There's No Easy Way (To Break Somebody's Heart) while Takeoff took on Secondhand Serenade's Fall For You (Acapella version). The judges voting resulted in the show's very first deadlock, where Pilita Corrales and Martin Nievera voted for Takeoff to go while Gary Valenciano and Charice voted Mark Mabasa to go.

Whenever a deadlock (2-2) happens, the show goes back to the actual voting results and it was Mark Mabasa who got the lowest vote of 3.72% versus Takeoff's 3.90%, making him the one eliminated.

Perhaps one of the most the difficult decisions the judges have to make, both are still deserving to stay at this point of the competition.

Now, we are down to The X Factor Philippines Final 10. Who among
  • Joan Da
  • KZ Tandingan
  • Kedebon Colim
  • Jeric Medina
  • Daddy's Home
  • Modesto Taran
  • Allen Jane Sta. Maria
  • Gabriel Maturan

  • Takeoff

Charice Fires Manager Grace Mendoza

International singing sensation and The X Factor Philippines judge/mentor Charice fired her long-time manager, Grace Mendoza. Charice made the official announcement via her official Twitter account.

Charice also added that her "new point of contact" is now her personal assistant and road manager, Courtney Blooding.

Charice fires manager Grace Mendoza

“A bit of news, Grace Mendoza is no longer my manager. I thank her for the work and time she has spent with me. Courtney Blooding is the new point of contact for me. You can reach her at courtneyblooding@me.com,” she said.
Charice did not divulge much about the reason she and her long-time manager parted ways. However, Charice and Grace Mendoza had a rift last 2010 after the said manager prematurely announced that she will be joining the hit US musical TV series, Glee.

Charice is now busy for collaborations with other artists like Cheesa Laureta aside from being a judge/mentor in the Philippine franchise of The X Factor. Last Sunday, it was Jerrianne Mae Templo, one of Charice's girls, who got the boot.

Don't miss The X Factor Philippines second performance night this August 11, Saturday after MMK and the live results show on Sunday, August 12 after Sarah G Live.

The X Factor Philippines Beats Artista Academy and Protégé in TV Ratings

Posted on August 9, 2012 | 2:38 PM

The country’s biggest musical event of the year, “The X Factor Philippines,” won in national TV ratings over rival network’s newly launched talent-reality shows during the weekend making it the most-watched talent show in the land.

The X Factor Philippines Beats Artista Academy and Protege in TV ratings

Based on recent urban and rural TV ratings data from Kantar Media, “The X Factor Philippines” scored an average national TV rating of 20.7% last Saturday (Aug 4) vs TV5’s Artista Academy” only rated at 1.8%. GMA 7’s bet “Protégé: The Battle for the Big Artista Break” also fell short on its viewership and wasn’t able to beat “The X Factor Philippines” (16.6%) during its launch last Sunday (Aug 5).

More Filipinos are definitely glued to the intense competition being served by the hit Kapamilya show especially after judge-mentor Charice bid goodbye to her first act. Jerrianne Templo, a dive guide from Mandaluyong City, got booted from the competition after judge-mentors Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, and Pilita Corrales favored to save Over 25s Joan Da, who is also at the bottom two together with Jerrianne.

Who among the finalist will standout in this week’s performances? Who will be the next finalist falling off to the bottom 2? Whose judge’s acts will continue and who will end their journey? Don’t miss as the competition heats up in the country’s biggest and grandest musical event of the year, “The X Factor Philippines,” with KC Concepcion as host, every Saturday, after “MMK,” and every Sunday, after “Sarah G Live” on ABS-CBN.

Poll: Who is Your Favorite The X Factor Philippines Finalist?

Posted on August 7, 2012 | 8:41 PM

The competition is just heating up in The X Factor Philippines and with the first live shows, we get a glimpse of what could the X Factor finalists can give to the audience. For sure each of you have your own favorites and someone you would like to see clinching that very first X Factor title plus 4-million pesos worth of cash and prizes.

The X Factor Philippines Final 12

Based on our experience, those who topped our polls surely won in the contest or show he/she was in. Since The X Factor Philippines also utilizes text and online votes (the power of viewers) in determining the winners, we knew that online polls will somehow reflect who contestant is the favorite to win the whole thing.

With this, we would like to open our The X Factor Philippines poll. You can vote at most three finalist of your choice.

Lately, the possibility of a wildcard twist on the said show came abuzz. However, we did not witness it on the first live show due to a shorter time period for each episode and certainly, this cannot accommodate more than 12 contestants. The twist might happen when there's only few finalists left.

If ever a wildcard contestant will be given a chance in the competition, who among the Final 20 contestants who did not make it to the live shows would you like to take that slot? You can also vote below.

The X Factor Philippines First Live Results Show Elimination Night: Jerrianne Mae Templo Eliminated

Posted on August 6, 2012 | 7:36 AM

After Saturday's first live show performance, one of the X Factor Philippines Final 12 bade goodbye Sunday, August 5 on its very first Live Results Show elimination night.

Jerrianne Mae Templo (girls category) was the first one to be eliminated from the show after being voted by the three judges to go home. Jerrianne became a part of the bottom 2 lowest text and online votes getter along with Joan Da (over 25's).

Jerriane Mae Templo eliminated on the First Live Results Show elimination night of The X Factor Philippines
The two had a sing-off for survival where Jerrianne took on Etta James' At Last. Joan Da sang Adele's Chasing Pavements. Pilita Corrales, who mentored Joan Da voted for her protege to stay along with the two guy judges, Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano. Only Jerrianne's mentor, Charice wanted her to stay. With a judge/mentor vote tally of 3-1, Jerrianne was eliminated.

The X Factor Philippines Final 12 performed songs from the movies on the first live show. From its amazing stage at the PAGCOR Grand Theater to the fabulous showcase of talents, the first live show of ABS-CBN's The X Factor franchise is highly commendable.

Here is the list of songs of The X Factor Philippines Final 12 on the first live show based on the order of performance:
  • Take Off – “Jail House Rock” by Elvis Presley
  • Allen Jane Sta. Maria – “Keep Holding On” by Avril Lavigne
  • Gabriel Maturan – “It Will Rain” by Bruno Mars
  • Modesto Taran – “Johnny B. Goode” by Chuck Berry
  • Daddy’s Home – “Till My Heartaches End” by Ella Mae Saison
  • KZ Tandingan “The Show” by Lenka
  • Jeric Medina – “Unchained Melody” originally by Elvis Presley
  • Mark Mabasa – “Kiss from a Rose” by Seal

  • Joan Da – “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5
  • Jerrianne Templo – “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” by Roberta Flack - eliminated
  • Kedebon Colim – “First Day High” by Kamikazee
A.K.A. JAM, a new name give by mentor Gary V to his Lucky Girls (from the members' first names -- Alyssa, Katrina, Ashley, Jhelsea, Auriette and Monique) received the very first standing ovation of the season. Meanwhile, the groups categories all did well.

Among the boys, it was Gabriel Maturan who surprised the judges with his moves. The girls also improved a lot. However, early favorite KZ Tandingan was criticized for a wrong song choice made by mentor Charice. Among the over 25's , it was Mark Mabasa who amazed the judges, saying that he's born to be a star.

Next week, The X Factor Philippines Final 11 will again perform on the show's second Live Performance Night and on Sunday, another finalists will get the boot.
