Posted on October 2, 2012 | 12:34 PM

It’s going to be a toss up among the Boys, the Girls, and the Groups as “The X Factor Philippines” contestants Gabriel Maturan of Dipolog City, KZ Tandingan of Digos City, and Daddy’s Home of Metro Manila made it to the final three of the country’s biggest musical event and will compete for the grand title in the much-awaited grand finals this Saturday (Oct 6) and Sunday (Oct 7) at the PAGCOR Grand Theater in Paranaque.

Gabriel Maturan, KZ Tandingan and Daddy's Home Compete to be the very first grand winner of The X Factor Philippines on October 6 and 7

The highly-anticipated final musical showdown will also witness the battle of judge-mentors Martin Nievera, who mentors the Boys; Charice for the Girls; and Gary Valenciano for the Groups.

Before the excitement this weekend, “The X Factor Philippines” went through an intense drama after Charice’s other mentee from the Girls, Allen Sta. Maria, ended her ‘x factor’ journey at a close fourth spot and got the boot last Sunday (Sep 30). All three mentors, except Charice, voted to send Allen home and preferred for KZ, who joined her in the bottom two, to stay in the competition. Charice was spared from choosing between her two girls but bursted into tears when she bid one of her mentees goodbye.

The battle stage is already set for the final three. Who will among Gab, KZ, and Daddy’s Home will emerge as the first “The X Factor Philippines” grand winner?

Be sure to put your favorites at the top by voting for them this Saturday night (Oct 6). Vote after their performances by texting XF<space>GAB/KZ/DAD and send it to 2331 for Globe and Sun subscribers and 231 for Smart and Talk ‘n Text subscribers.

Don’t miss the country’s biggest and grandest musical event of the year, “The X Factor Philippines,” with KC Concepcion as host, in its much-awaited final performance night this Saturday (Oct 6), after “MMK,” and final results night this Sunday (Oct 7), after “Sarah G Live” on ABS-CBN.

The X Factor Philippines Top 3 Revealed, Allen Sta. Maria Eliminated!

Posted on September 30, 2012 | 9:18 PM

The X Factor Philippines Top 4 elimination night (results show) happened September 30, 2012 and it was Allen Sta. Maria who got the boot, revealing the Top 3 who will be vying for the grand finals next week.

Allen Sta. Maria eliminated on the 9th Live Results Show (elimination night) of The X Factor Philippines, September 30

Allen's elimination from The X Factor Philippines was the most hurtful since it was just one step away to the grand finals. She was joined by KZ Tandingan in the bottom two lowest text and online vote getters. This was the second time that the bottom two came from the wings of only one mentor (the first one was when A.K.A. JAM was pitted against fellow Gary V mentee, Daddy's Home).

The two had a sing-off for survival and Allen Sta. Maria sang Pink's Perfect while KZ Tandingan performed John Legend's Ordinary People.

All the three judges asked favored KZ Tandingan and voted to eliminate Allen Sta. Maria, citing that the former has the more X Factor who will be representing the Philippines to the world. Charice, Allen's mentor burst in tears even before she gave her advice to Allen (thanked God she was not given the task to vote off one of them).

Surely, Charice's world was rattled and her heart broke knowing that both her girls, Allen and KZ were on the verge of elimination. Last night though wasn't the night of these two girls as they performed less than their capabilities. We ranked them as the two weakest last night but we did not expect KZ to be part of the bottom two.

Now, we are down to The X Factor Philippines Final 3. Who among
  • Gabriel Maturan
  • Daddy's Home
  • KZ Tandingan
will emerge as the very first grand winner of The X Factor Philippines and will take home the PhP 4 million worth of prizes, including a recording contract? Find out next week on The X Factor Philippines two-part grand finals (October 6 and 7).

The X Factor Philippines Final 4 Performance Night (September 29)

The last live performance night of The X Factor Philippines before the grand finals happened September 29, 2012 at the PAGCOR Grand Theater in Paranaque. The X Factor final 4 paid tribute to their musical heroes which serve as their influences in singing.

The X Factor Philippines 9th Live Performance Show, September 29

Allen Sta. Maria opened the night for the nth time with a swagger from Willow Smith, Whip My Hair. The judges gave their nod to Allen. Even judge Pilita told her that she might replace Charice, to which her mentor agreed saying that she's not threatened at all because Allen deserved it.

Daddy's Home suited up for their Journey performance. The quartet again harmonized perfectly with a Homer Flores-arranged Open Arms and the judges were all unanimous in saying that they really deserved the slot in the Top 4.

KZ Tandingan may not display her vocal calisthenics but she did one thing we haven't seen in her performances yet which is dancing. Doing Chris Brown's Forever was not her strongest (probably her weakest this season) but we're pretty sure that she will make it to the grand finals and even win the whole thing with her strong fan base.

Gabriel Maturan closed the show with Justin Bieber's Boyfriend. It was the biggest production for Gabriel after Bruno Mars' It Will Rain and he did not disappoint. Rapping, singing (with falsetto) and dancing in one performance was it and his mentor told him that it was his most relaxed so far, proud no matter what happens on the results night.

Here is the list of songs performed by The X Factor Philippines Final 4 (in order):
  • Allen Jane Sta. Maria - Whip My Hair (Willow Smith)
  • Daddy's Home -  Open Arms (Journey)
  • KZ Tandingan - Forever (Chris Brown)
  • Gabriel Maturan - Boyfriend (Justin Bieber)

Here is our ranking of the best performances of the night:
  1. Gabriel Maturan - XF GAB
  2. Daddy's Home - XF DAD
  3. Allen Jane Sta. Maria - XF ALLEN
  4. KZ Tandingan - XF KZ
Who will make it to the grand finals? We foresee either Daddy's Home or Allen Sta. Maria going home on Sunday's live results show. Both have been in the bottom two a few times already. However, there was a gut feel that Gabriel Maturan will be there for the first time and can be in the danger of elimination if he will be pitted against Daddy's Home (with or without a deadlock).

Don't miss The X Factor Philippines on September 30 as the Final 3 who will battle it out in the grand finals will be named.

Posted on September 23, 2012 | 10:11 PM

The X Factor Philippines eighth Live Results Show (elimination night) happened September 23, 2012 and it was  Jeric Medina  who got the boot after the Revivals-themed Saturday's performance night.

Jeric Medina eliminated on the 8th live results show (elimination night) of The X Factor Philippines, September 23

Jeric Medina is the 8th finalist to be eliminated from The X Factor Philippines after Jerrianne Mae Templo (girls), Mark Mabasa (over 25's), A.K.A. JAM (girls), Modesto Taran (over 25's), Takeoff (groups), Joan Da (over 25's) and Kedebon Colim (boys). Jeric was joined by  Daddy's Home in the bottom two lowest text and online vote getters.

The two had a sing-off for survival and Daddy's Home sang Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now) by Phil Collins while Jeric Medina took on Aerosmith's I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing.

Judges' Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano both saved their own mentees while judge Pilita Corrales voted to eliminate Daddy's Home. Judge Charice created another deadlock by voting off Jeric Medina.

This was Jeric Medina's first appearance in the bottom two and by virtue of audience votes, he was eliminated with only 16.74% votes, falling short of Daddy's Home's 19.63%.

The X Factor Philippines 8th Live Performance Night (September 22)

Posted on September 22, 2012 | 10:43 PM

The eighth live performance night of The X Factor Philippines happened September 22, 2012 at the PAGCOR Grand Theater in Paranaque. The X Factor final 5 took on songs popularized and revived by famous international and local artists, bringing in their own flavor and style.

The X Factor Philippines 8th Live Performance Night (September 22)

Allen Sta. Maria opened the night with Teenage Dream originally by Katy Perry and revived by Glee's The Warblers headed by Darren Criss. This is the first time that Allen sang a pop song and her performance was not that spectacular like her past performances. The judges wanted to see her do another thing. Gabriel Maturan did Moonlight Over Paris which is revived by Paolo Santos. Judge Gary Valenciano told him that he don't need to move purposely for a ballad song. Gab's voice though is that beautiful you can't help but just be moved by his song.

KZ Tandingan sang To Make You Feel My Love which was revived by Adele. Her performance was again heartfelt and well-received by the judges. It was simply captivating. Jeric Medina rendered Do You Believe In Me revived by South Border and the judges wanted him to push harder. After all, he's got one of the best vocals in the competition so he needed to step it all up and move some more.

Daddy's Home gave another harmonized performance taking on Tell Me revived by Side A. The group did a good job with the song and received praises from the judges.

Here is the list of songs performed by The X Factor Philippines Final 6 (in order):
  • Allen Jane Sta. Maria - Teenage Dream (Glee)
  • Gabriel Maturan - Moonlight Over Paris (Paolo Santos)
  • KZ Tandingan - To Make You Feel My Love (Adele)
  • Jeric Medina - Do You Believe In Me (South Border)
  • Daddy's Home -  Tell Me (Side A)
To vote for your favorite, just text XF <space> name of contestant and send to 2331 for Globe, TM and Sun Cellular subscribers or 231 for Smart and Talk N’ Text subscribers. KZ Tandingan Sees Allen Sta. Maria and Daddy's Home as Threats

The X Factor Philippines finalist KZ Tandingan had a guesting on the morning show Umagang Kay Ganda on Thursday, September 20.  KZ, whose real name is Kristine Zhenie Tandingan, admitted on the show that she feels pressured when she is labeled the "one to beat" on the ABS-CBN franchise of the hit X Factor.

KZ Tandingan The X Factor Philippines

"Nakaka-pressure po, sobrang nakaka-pressure. Dapat mong galingan kasi ikaw yung parang sinasabi nga po nila nung nag-presscon kami, parang threat-threat daw eh hindi naman po," KZ told UKG host Iya Villania.

KZ also said that she views Daddy's Home and Allen Sta. Maria as her top rivals in the talent show.

KZ was a fan favorite even at the start of auditions until now that she is vying for a spot in The X Factor Philippines grand finals in October and eventually for the grand champion title. Even our poll showed that KZ Tandingan was a hands-down winner.

The X Factor Philippines 7th Live Results Show Elimination Night: Kedebon Colim Eliminated!

Posted on September 16, 2012 | 10:09 PM

The X Factor Philippines seventh Live Results Show (elimination night) happened September 16, 2012 and it was Kedebon Colim who got the boot after last night's take on the songs of two Pinoy super bands, Eraserheads and Rivermaya.

It was one of the most emotional elimination nights since we all saw Allen, KZ, Jeric and Gab crying while Kedebon is fighting for his life in the show.

Kedebon Colim eliminated on the 7th Live Results show elimination night of The X Factor Philippines, September 16

Kedebon is the seventh finalist to be eliminated from The X Factor Philippines after Jerrianne Mae Templo (girls), Mark Mabasa (over 25's), A.K.A. JAM (girls), Modesto Taran (over 25's), Takeoff (groups) and Joan Da (over 25's). Kedebon Colim was joined by Daddy's Home in the bottom two lowest text and online vote getters.

The two had a sing off for survival and Daddy's Home performed Lately by Stevie Wonder while Kedebon Colim did Enrique Iglesias' Hero. Kedebon was in his element singing the song and we could say it was his best performance the whole season (too late his rope just ends tonight).

Judges Pilita Corrales, Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera all voted to eliminate Kedebon. This is the second time that a mentor bravely booted out his or her own mentee (first one is Pilita sending Modesto home). Charice need not vote since majority favored Daddy's Home.

Many netizens rejoiced upon learning that Kedebon was the one who got the boot. In fact, the minute host KC Concepcion announced the bottom two, we all knew that it will be Kedebon who's going home (since it will be a big mistake for the judges to save Kedebon in lieu of Daddy's Home). Even before the judges' votes, the term Bye Kedebon already trended on Twitter.

Now, we are down to The X Factor Philippines Final 5. Who among
  • Allen Jane Sta. Maria
  • Gabriel Maturan
  • Jeric Medina
  • KZ Tandingan
  • Daddy's Home
will showcase another amazing performance on next week's Saturday live show and who will be on the verge of elimination come Sunday's results night? We are nearing the grand finals with only two more performance and elimination shows remaining so don't miss The X Factor Philippines every Saturday after MMK and on Sundays after Sarah G Live.

The X Factor Philippines 7th Live Performance Night (September 15)

Posted on September 15, 2012 | 10:47 PM

The seventh live performance night of The X Factor Philippines happened September 15, 2012 at the PAGCOR Grand Theater in Paranaque. The X Factor final 6 did the Eraserheads and Rivermaya songbook for Saturday's performance show.

Daddy's Home, Gabriel Maturan, Jeric Medina and KZ Tandingan paid tribute to Rivermaya while Kedebon Colim and Allen Sta. Maria sang Eraserheads.

The X Factor Philippines 7th Live performance night (September 15, 2012)

Daddy's Home opened the night with a lounge version of Himala. The judges applauded their performance, saying that they can sing anything. Gabriel Maturan followed with a surprising rendition of Hinahanap-Hanap Kita. He totally performed with sexy dancers and did not allow them to overpower him. With confidence and sex appeal oozing, Gab's version of the 'Maya' classic is better than Daniel's (lol).

Jeric Medina worked out his charisma singing 214 (Am I Real). He truly felt his song but the judges found minor off notes. Mentor Martin said that it was Jeric's most-relaxed performance though. KZ Tandingan, dubbed by Charice as the real 'Princess of Soul' sang Kisapmata in a Cesar Aguas arrangement. The judges found no wrong in her song, saying that it was sensational. KZ even made judge Gary cry.

Kedebon Colim entertained again with Toyang and the judges advised him to just ignore haters. Judge Gary also added that he wanted Kedebon to do other genre so that he can show his heart more which seemed to be his strength. Allen Sta. Maria closed the show with With A Smile. If KZ has had her title, mentor Charice also gave Allen her own, that is 'The Swag Princess.' Her performance was smooth just like the night she sang Carol Banawa. The judges saw the maturity in her this time. Allen is using her soft and loud voice perfectly and that made her stand-out from the rest.

Here is the list of songs performed by The X Factor Philippines Final 6 (in order):
  • Daddy's Home - Himala (Rivermaya)
  • Gabriel Maturan - Hinahanap-Hanap Kita (Rivermaya)
  • Jeric Medina - 214 (Am I Real) (Rivermaya)
  • KZ Tandingan - Kisapmata (Rivermaya)
  • Kedebon Colim - Toyang (Eraserheads)
  • Allen Jane Sta. Maria - With A Smile (Eraserheads)

The X Factor Philippines Top 6 Performs Rivermaya and Eraserheads this September 15

Another intense musical battle will commence this Saturday (September 15) as The X Factor Philippines top six finalists treat us with another exciting performances for the 7th Live Show of  ABS-CBN's The X Factor franchise.

The X Factor Philippines Top 6 Performs Eraserheads and Rivermaya songs this September 15

After the 80s-themed musical night last week, The X Factor PH Final 6 will again go back to OPM and this time, they will perform from the song book of two of the country's legendary bands, Rivermaya and Eraserheads. Three of them will be singing 'E-heads' while the other three will took on 'Maya'.

For the final six, being the next multimedia superstar and winning  The X Factor Philippines are not just a battle of charisma, stage presence, and unique vocal prowess but also a personal battle to overcome their lifelong struggles that might have driven them off course from realizing their dreams of making it in the music industry.

Jeric Medina is constantly battling with his weight problems while Gabriel Maturan is longing for a complete family. Meanwhile, Allen Sta. Maria and Kedebon Colim are both fighting poverty but the latter is also striving to win the hearts of non-believers of his talent. KZ Tandingan, on the other hand, has encountered throat problems which affected her singing voice and self esteem. Daddy’s Home is in a fight against time as their shot at making it in the industry tends to be shorter than the rest of the younger contenders.

Who will win their battles? Don't miss The X Factor Philippines this Saturday, September 15 as KZ Tandingan and Allen Sta. Maria from the girls category, Gabriel Maturan, Kedebon Colim and Jeric Medina from the boys, and Daddy's Home from the groups do another grand showcase of talents.

What do you think your favorites will be singing come Saturday's performance show? Send your comments and reactions for tonight's live show using the hashtag #XFPHEheadsRmaya.

Don't forget to vote for your favorites so that they can continue their X Factor journey (and don't let another good act be eliminated by voting wisely). Also, show your support to your favorites by voting on our poll. Just click here.

Pilita Corrales' Mentor Role on 'The X Factor Philippines' Ends

Posted on September 13, 2012 | 12:40 PM

Joan Da and Mentor Pilita CorralesPilita Corrales’ duties as a mentor of the Over 25s ended last Sunday (Sep 9) after her last mentee, Joan Da, got booted from the “The X Factor Philippines.”

Joan once again landed in the bottom two, this time with Charice’s mentee Allen Sta. Maria after they scored the lowest number of votes from the public. Pilita and Charice sided with their bets but Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera both voted to save Allen after watching her survival song. For Gary, Allen didn’t just perform on stage but also expressed what she truly feels with the song. Martin, on the other hand, said that Joan only “sang a song” while Allen “sang her life.”

With Joan leaving the competition, Pilita is the first mentor to lose all her acts. Meanwhile, Gary is hanging tough with his last mentee in the Groups category, Daddy’s Home. Charice still has KZ Tandingan and Allen under the Girls category, while Martin remains unrattled with three of his Boys still in the game— Jeric Medina, Gabriel Maturan, and Kedebon Colim.

What challenges await them this week? Who will go home and who will continue their course to becoming the next multimedia superstar? Be sure to save your favorites from being in the bottom two by voting for them this Saturday night (Sept 8). Vote after their performances by texting:

Studio 23 premieres the highly anticipated second season of hitUSsinging competition “The X FactorUSA” via satellite this Thursday (Sept 13) at 7PM.

Season one judge-mentors Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid are back and now joined by teen sensation Demi Lovato and pop icon Britney Spears as new judges to search for an out-of-this-world 12 years old or over talent – both solo artists and vocal groups – who are bold enough to face the superstar judges and the Fifth Judge, the audience of thousands, who they have to win over during the audition.

The X Factor USA Season 2 Judges: Britney Spears, Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid
Aside from the singing acts that may wow the crowd with their vocal ability, charisma and stage presence, fans are excited to see how Demi and Britney will get along and react with their co-judges especially with the ever-unapologetic Simon.

“So far everything has been so much fun for all of us. Everything is like a ew experience for me. It’s a lot of fun and the talentsare amazing,” shared Britney.

Simon earlier commended the girls, in an interview with People.com, for doing a great job. He even quipped that Britney, after taping a few episodes, turned out to be quite mean and very difficult to please. Demi, on the other hand, he said was quite annoying. “I thought she was very confident, very bright, then became quite annoying, but knew what she was talking about,” explained Simon.

When it comes to their judging, Britney described her style as “subtle” and that she will try to use constructive criticisms, while Demi simply put it as “happy” and “really honest”

Simon also revealed that more of the mentoring process can also be expected this season. “A lot of what we did was off-camera. I think the mentoring process, how we actually work with the artists, how they interact with each other, where they’re staying, is an important part of this show.  I think all that process has to be shown.”

Last season, Melanie Amaro was crowned winner and Simon, who mentored Melanie and the rest of the Girls came out on top. But will one of the other judges dethrone him this year? Who among the contestants are worthy of the $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music?

But before the whole world meets the second “The X FactorUSA” winner, Filipinos will first meet the first grand winner of “The X FactorPhilippines,” hosted by KC Concepcion and airs weekends on ABS-CBN. The finale is getting nearer as only six finalists compete for the title.

Don’t miss the two-part via satellite premiere of “The X FactorUSA2” this Thursday (Sep 13) and Friday (Sep 14), 7 PM on Studio 23. Catch the show in the succeeding weeks every Thursday and Friday, at 7 PM, with a same day encore run at 10:30 PM.

The X Factor Philippines 6th Live Results Show Elimination Night: Joan Da Eliminated!

Posted on September 9, 2012 | 10:05 PM

The X Factor Philippines sixth Live Results Show (elimination night) happened September 9, 2012 and it was Joan Da who got the boot in the the noisiest of all elimination nights this season with fans screaming and shouting the name of their idols.

Joan Da eliminated on the 6th live results show elimination night of The X Factor Philippines, September 9
Joan Da is the sixth finalist to be eliminated from The X Factor Philippines after Jerrianne Mae Templo (girls), Mark Mabasa (over 25's), A.K.A. JAM (girls), Modesto Taran (over 25's) and Takeoff (groups). Joan was joined by Allen Sta. Maria in the bottom two lowest text and online vote getters.

The two had a sing-off for their survival and Joan Da sang Auburn's All About Him while Allen Sta. Maria performed Willow Smith's I Am Me.

Three out of the four judges voted for Joan to go, with her mentor Pilita Corrales the only one voting the other way around.

This is the third time (with two in a row) that Joan Da landed in the bottom 2. She followed the footsteps of Takeoff which was eliminated the third time they became part of the two lowest vote getters. Incidentally, it was Joan who beat Takeoff last week after getting more audience votes after another deadlock.

Last night, the contestants wowed us with 80s-themed performances and Allen and Joan did great singing  Every Breath You Take (The Police) and Billie Jean (Michael Jackson), respectively. However, votes remained unpredictable that even the best talents will have to sing for survival and eventually be eliminated.

Now, we are down to The X Factor Philippines Final 6. Who among
  • Daddy's Home
  • Gabriel Maturan
  • KZ Tandingan
  • Jeric Medina
  • Kedebon Colim
  • Allen Jane Sta. Maria
will showcase another amazing performance on next week's Saturday live show and who will be on the verge of elimination come Sunday's results night? Don't miss The X Factor Philippines every Saturday after MMK and on Sundays after Sarah G Live.

The X Factor Philippines 6th Live Performance Night (September 8)

Posted on September 8, 2012 | 10:44 PM

The sixth live performance night of The X Factor Philippines happened September 8, 2012 at the PAGCOR Grand Theater in Paranaque. The X Factor final 7 took on songs from the 80s and gave their own renditions of these past hit songs.

The X Factor Philippines 6th Live Performance Show (Top 7) September 8, 2012

Allen Sta. Maria wowed with her own version of The Police's Every Breath You Take. Allen brought back the swagger in her and perhaps this is Allen's next best performance after her cover of Carol Banawa's Hanggang May Kailanman last week. Gabriel Maturan gave his own touch on Kenny Loggins Forever which the judges found refreshing but they wanted him to come out of his shell more on stage.

KZ Tandingan was again in her element but there's some issues on her soft high notes while singing. Heavily favored by fans, KZ is one front runner since auditions. Meanwhile, Jeric Medina sang the controversial George Michael hit, Careless Whisper in a different arrangement which somewhat took the song's sexy appeal. The judges said that it's Jeric's best performance, making the song less associated with the scandal it carried years back.

Daddy's Home did a heartfelt rendition of a Chicago's hit and dude, that was 80s! The blending and harmony, according to the judges was fantastic. Kedebon Colim improved a lot in his performance of Eye of the Tiger  which was full of energy though he still cannot perfect those high notes (Kedebon's birthday wish was to at least hit those notes).

Joan Da closed the night with MJ's Billie Jean a la David Cook but with soft vocals. This could be at par with her Alanis Morissette performance but fell short a little. Joan however looked good tonight and impressed the judges well.

Here are the list of songs performed by The X Factor Philippines Final 7 (in order):
  • Allen Jane Sta. Maria - Every Breath You Take (The Police)
  • Gabriel Maturan - Forever (Kenny Loggins)
  • KZ Tandingan - Eternal Flame (The Bangles)
  • Jeric Medina - Careless Whisper (George Michael)
  • Daddy's Home - Will You Still Love Me? (Chicago)
  • Kedebon Colim - Eye of the Tiger (Survivor)
  • Joan Da - Billie Jean (Michael Jackson)

Gary V, Pilita Corrales Now Have Slimmer Chances of Winning in 'X Factor'

Posted on September 5, 2012 | 4:37 PM

Judge-mentor Gary Valenciano now has slimmer chances of winning in “The X Factor Philippines” alongside his mentees after his second group, Takeoff got eliminated last Sunday (Sep 2).

After the mentor-judges’ votes caused a deadlock between Takeoff and Over 25′s Joan Da, the voting public’s decision ruled in favor of Joan (9.99%) and sent home the all-male group who garnered the lowest numbers of text votes (6.59%).

Gary Valenciano and Pilita Corrales The X Factor Philippines Judge-mentors

While Gary and Pilita are left with only one act to mentor, Charice still has KZ Tandingan and Allen Sta. Maria representing the Girls. Martin Nievera, meanwhile, remains unbeaten with three of his mentees from the Boys— Jeric Medina, Gabriel Anciano, and Kedebon Colim— still standing strong in the show.

What will the top 7 perform this week? Whose journey will end in the next elimination night? Don’t miss as the competition gets even tougher in the country’s biggest and grandest musical event of the year, “The X Factor Philippines,” with KC Concepcion as host, every Saturday, after “MMK,” and every Sunday, after “Sarah G Live” on ABS-CBN.

The X Factor Philippines 5th Live Performance Night (September 1)

Posted on September 1, 2012 | 10:56 PM

The fifth live performance night of The X Factor Philippines happened September 1, 2012 at the PAGCOR Grand Theater in Paranaque. The X Factor final 8 paid tribute to OPM music on the night's performances.

The X Factor Philippines 5th Live performance night (Top 8) September 1

Jeric Medina opened the night with a refreshing version of Itchyworms' Akin Ka Na Lang which we found as his best so far in the competition but the judges were quite uncomfortable with Jeric's movements, saying that he's good with slow songs. He was followed by Joan Da in a red gown singing Join The Club's Nobela and the judges agreed that its her best vocals so far, one that could be her single. Daddy's Home performed Paraiso by Smokey Mountain with their children which was also a hit to the judges.

Gabriel Maturan gave a cool rendition of South Border's Rainbow working on his falsetto right, getting nods from judges. Takeoff did APO's Yakap Sa Dilim and vocally, the judges found some flaws yet their performance was enjoyable. Allen Sta. Maria received praises for her rendition of Carol Banawa's Hanggang May Kailanman, perhaps her best so far outside her usual genre which is hip hop.

KZ Tandingan sang Ang Huling El Bimbo by Eraserheads and the judges just wanted her to continue what she's doing. Kedebon Colim was again given the pimp spot for the second time and he performed Kailangan Kita composed by Ogie Alcasid and just like last week, Kedebon's notes were all around prompting Charice to say that he can't just do a ballad thing if ever he still moves on to next week's live show.

Here are the list of songs performed by The X Factor Philippines Final 8 (in order):
  • Jeric Medina - Akin Ka Na Lang (Itchyworms)
  • Joan Da - Nobela (Join The Club)
