Lee Grane Maranan Joins Team Bamboo, Makes Coach Cry | The Voice of the Philippines Blind Auditions

Posted on June 22, 2013 | 10:57 PM

One of the artists who auditioned in The Voice of the Philippines made coach Bamboo cry during the Blind Auditions which aired on Saturday (June 22). The said artist was Lee Grane Maranan.

Lee Grane Maranan of Team Bamboo | The Voice of the Philippines

Lee Grane, a professional singer sang Freddie Aguilar's Anak for her Blind Auditions piece. She made coaches Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo turn their chairs with her singing style. However, it was her rendition of Sarah MacLachlan's Angel that touched the hearts of the coaches, Bamboo especially, and made the rocker burst into tears.

The two other coaches who did not push their buttons, Lea Salonga and Apl de Ap, were all in regret after hearing Lee Grane perform the said song, an English one as requested by Lea (check out the video of her Blind Audition performances here).

Lee Grane instantly became a worldwide trending topic on Twitter, reaching as high as number 2 and topping the list of trending topics in Twitter Philippines right after she performed.

Although Lee Grane acknowledged the fact that coach Sarah was the first to turn her chair, she eventually chose to be part of Team Bamboo (aka Camp Kawayan).

Viewers are now excited to see Lee Grane in the Battle Rounds and will now follow her journey to the finals, if ever she gets pass the tough competition.

Along with Lee Grane, other artists who also passed the Blind Auditions on The Voice of the Philippines Episode 3 (June 22) were Eva de los Santos, a 51-year-old mother from Cebu joining Team Sarah, singer-actor Guji Lorenzana and his sister Grace (duo) joining Team Apl, together with Sir Lord Lumibao, the 23-year-old band vocalist from Zamboanga.

Amalia Fuentes Joins Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala; Replaced by Pilar Pilapil in Muling Buksan Ang Puso

Veteran actress Amalia Fuentes will join the cast of Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala which has already aired its pilot week. The series is the comeback teleserye of soap opera queen Judy Ann Santos and also stars Sam Milby and KC Concepcion, among other big stars.

Amalia Fuentes and Pilar Pilapil

In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN's Mario Dumaual, Amalia Fuentes said that she was very happy of having given a second chance by the network "to experience what it is to work in a teleserye." It can be recalled that Amalia resigned in Muling Buksan Ang Puso, her supposed reunion project with fellow movie queen Susan Roces (read related story here).

"I am so happy. This is another beginning, another episode in my life, because I have never done a teleserye. People are now so teleserye-involved. I felt that it was time that I should experience this. So when ABS-CBN offered me the chance to do a teleserye, I right away grabbed it, because this is something that I must know from experience, not from the experience of other people," she said adding that she was instantly taken with the teleserye's advocacy—women empowerment.

In Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, Amalia Fuentes will play a pivotal role in the life of Anessa (played by Juday) in the latter part of the series.

Meanwhile, Amalia Fuentes will be replaced by another veteran Pilar Pilapil in this year's biggest teleserye. Pilar has already appeared in several successful Kapamilya teleseryes including  internationally-acclaimed Lobo and the recently concluded Ina Kapatid Anak.

Muling Buksan Ang Puso boasts of an ensemble of huge actors including Dante Rivero, Cherie Gil, Agot Isidro, Dominic Ochoa, Daniel Fernando, and Ms. Susan Roces and featuring this generation's hottest actors, Julia Montes, Enchong Dee and Enrique Gil.

Muling Buksan Ang Puso is expected to air this July 2013.

Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta to star in a movie with John Lloyd Cruz and Jessy Mendiola for Star Cinema's 20th anniversary

Richard and Dawn signed a contract with Star Cinema recently after the success of their love team’s comeback in the hit teleserye “Walang Hanggan,” where they played the roles of Marco and Emily, respectively.

“I feel proud to be part of Star Cinema’s anniversary. It’s a great year and a great time to be with Star Cinema and Dawn. This project is going to be very exciting,” said Richard. For her part, Dawn said that she is quite nervous since it has been years since she and Richard have made a movie together.

Both Dawn and Richard expressed their excitement to work with the younger stars. “The last time I worked with John Lloyd was during the sitcom ‘Palibhasa Lalake,’ so I am so excited to have a reunion with him,” said Richard. The Voice of the Philippines Blind Auditions Soar High in TV Ratings

Posted on June 21, 2013 | 11:19 AM

Most Filipinos at home and online tuned into the premiere telecast of the country’s most anticipated singing-reality show, “The Voice of the Philippines,” and watched the first set of artists who tried to woo coaches Apl de Ap, Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, and Ms. Lea Salonga using only their singing voices in the show’s unique Blind Auditions round.

The Voice of the Philippines coaches

According to data from Kantar Media, “The Voice of the Philippines” hit a national TV rating of 30.2%, or 18 points higher than GMA 7’s “Celebrity Bluff” (12.1%), in its pilot airing last Saturday (June 15). It also topped the list of most-watched programs last Sunday (Jun 16) with a national TV rating of 27.7%, beating rival “Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho” with only 22%.

Various hashtags related to the show also trended nationwide and worldwide via the micro-blogging site Twitter on both nights as netizens shared their thoughts about the Philippine adaptation of the popular “The Voice” franchise and, as early as now, rooted for their favorite coaches and artists.

So far, seven artists already made a coach turn his/her red swiveling chair and became officially part of his/her team. Cora Dela Cruz and Thor Dulay join Team Apl; Darryl Shy, Chien Berbana, and Taw Muhammad for Team Lea; Junji Arias for Team Sarah; and Deb Victa for Team Bamboo.

Coaches still have a long way to go before they complete all twelve artists needed for their respective teams to advance to the next round of competition — the Battle Rounds.

Who will make the cut this week? Will the tension intensity as the coaches vie for the artists that they want for their teams?

Don’t miss the continuation of the Blind Auditions in “The Voice of the Philippines” this Saturday (June 22), 9 PM, and Sunday (June 23), 8:15 PM on ABS-CBN.
