Nonito Donaire Emerged Victorious over Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Successfully Defended his Title

The Filipino Flash, Nonito Donaire Jr. won against Puerto Rican boxer Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. following a 12-round split decision (117-110, 117-110 for Donaire and 115-112 for Vazquez) on their February 4 fight (February 5 in the Philippines) in Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas.

The said win brought home for Nonito his third world championship belt (WBO Junior Featherweight Belt). Donaire, despite a damaged left hand (probably between the 2nd and 4th round) still managed to score a knockdown at the 9th round.

Donaire confessed on his ESPN interview that Vazquez was tougher than he expected and his bad left hand brought him so much agony after the 9th.

Donaire, who is no. 4 pound-for-pound boxer in the world, will possibly face Jorge Arce, Toshiaki Nishioka or Guillermo Rigondeaux but Top Rank's Bob Arum would like the Donaire-Arce match to happen, with Donaire staying at 122 pounds while Arce moving up to meet the weight.

Meanwhile, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. successfully defended his WBC middleweight title against Marco Antonio Rubio after 12 rounds of boxing (118-110, 116-112, 115-113).
