Psy Ending 'Gangnam Style' Fever

There's no question that South Korean pop star Psy's Gangnam Style is the biggest hit of 2012 making him a global superstar but Psy hinted on "ending" the pony dance craze that is Gangnam Style at the start of the New Year.

Psy performed at the "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" in Times Square, New York and the rapper/singer called the performance as #GangnamFinale, posting on his official Twitter account.

Psy told MTV.com that he will be "ending" Gangnam Style before the start of the New Year.

"Being in Times Square on New Year's Eve is already special — it's the biggest stage in the universe — plus it's my birthday, so, with all that, it may be the ending of 'Gangnam Style,'" Psy told MTV News. "I mean, what better way to do it? It's my biggest and most meaningful birthday."

Although Psy knew that the Gangnam Style fever won't just disappear, he said that he's ready to move on from the song that launched his global career, citing that he's now working on a new single.

"The song became too popular, and so you start to have some concern about its life period," he said. "I'm really working hard on a new single right now, and I'm not saying ['Gangnam'] is ending on 'Dick Clark' — I still have a lot of invitations to perform it ... I'll be in Paris, and in February I got invited to perform in China, and I've still got to do promo. So let me say that in America I need a new single because 'Gangnam Style' got too popular, so I've got to write a new single."

Psy's Gangnam Style set the record for being the most-viewed video on YouTube, surpassing 1 billion views as of this posting.
