ABS-CBN received 6 nominations at the 2012 Asian Television Awards (ATA), the 17th edition of Asian TV industry's most significant and celebrated event, recognizing excellence in programming, production and performance.
Coco Martin is nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in the Maalaala Mo Kaya: Kamao episode which already bagged the special prize in the 2012 Seoul International Drama Awards.
For the Best Actress in a Leading Role category, it will be child star Sharlene San Pedro who will compete against six others. Sharlene received the nomination for her performance in the Maalaala Mo Kaya: T-Shirt episode. The said episode is a finalist at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prize.
ABS-CBN’s late night newscast Bandila: Sendong's Wrath is competing for the Best News Programme category against shows from Hong Kong and Singapore. Bandila already won the Best News Programme in 2007 for its coverage of the Subic rape case.
ABS-CBN News’ Chief correspondent Korina Sanchez was nominated in the Best Current Affairs Presenter category for her show Rated K. She will be up against six other presenters from India, Singapore and Malaysia.
ASAP Rocks: Gives Back will vie with TV shows from from Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia in the Best Music Programme category.
Meanwhile, The Bottomline with Boy Abunda is once again competing in the Best Talk Show. Last year, the show won in this category, beating top Asian programs, including Talk Asia of CNN Hong Kong and The Euthanasia Debate of New Delhi Television in India, elevating Boy Abunda as Asia's King of Talk.
The 17th Asian Television Awards 2012 Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony is happening on December 6 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore.
