Popstar Princess Sarah Geronio was tapped by the Philippine Army to serve as its 'Bayanihan' ambassador.

'Bayanihan' is the army's security plan which aims to end rebellion by addressing its roots like poverty and access to basic services while stressing the need for various sectors to participate in peace and development programs.

According to army spokesman Maj. Harold Cabunoc, Sarah Geronimo is tapped as the Bayanihan ambassadress because she is a perfect role model for the youth who remained humble despite her lofty status; well-respected in the industry and has the great potential to lure people to be involved in solving community problems.

Sarah Geronimo sang the security plan’s theme song, Bayanihan: Para sa Kapayapaan the music video of which was launched on Wednesday. The AFP was able to save P10 million after Sarah offered her services for free upon learning that the project was for the government’s peace advocacy.
