Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton) is pregnant with Prince William's child, the St. James Palace announced. In a headline published December 3, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge confirmed that they are expecting their first baby via their official website.
The official announcement also shared how delighted the royal family was with the news. Their Royal Highness, Kate and William's baby will be born third in line to the throne, and will be the first time in 120 years a serving monarch gets to meet a great grandchild born directly into succession to the crown.
According to reports, the couple has been hoping to keep the good news until Christmas Day but the announcement came early as Kate was rushed to the King Edward VII Hospital in Central London due to hyperemesis Gravidarum, a rare condition that causes severe vomiting, often blood, and affects 3.5 in every 1000 pregnant women.
Reports said that Kate's pregnancy has not passed the 12-week point yet and that morning sickness is common during that very early stages. The official website said that Kate is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter. Prince William, meanwhile, spent around six hours beside his wife, who is now getting better according to reports from the hospital.
Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot in April 2011 in what was dubbed as "wedding of the century" and since then the whole world is waiting for this great news. Prior to the official announcement, many tabloids have reported Kate's pregnancy, but the Palace hasn't confirmed any of those scoops until recently.
