JM de Guzman Confirms Angelito: Batang Ama Sequel

Angelito himself, JM de Guzman confirmed that his hit afternoon series Angelito: Ang Batang Ama will have a sequel. Angelito ended last April and the sequel will be titled Angelito: Ang Bagong Yugto.

Direk Lauren Dyogi, head of the business unit which created Angelito also confirmed the news through his twitter account. "Angelito, bagong yugto has been approved for production. Congrats to the creative n production team. Congrats direk Ted n to your cast!," tweeted Direk Lauren last May 4.

The PBB genius also confirmed the return of Charee Pineda and Kaye Abad's character in the series. New characters will also be introduced, including John Prats. The series will again be directed by Theodore Boborol.

"Angelito , Rosalie at Jenny magbabalik! Soon! Excited with the new plots n additional characters," tweeted Direk Lauren referring to JM, Charee and Kaye's characters in the series.

JM de Guzman, in an interview with the members of the press last May 29 said he is very thankful for the trust the management is giving him. He also thanked fans for support and promised more exciting twists and conflicts in the Angelito sequel.

"Thankful ako sa mga nagmahal at sumuporta. Ako sobrang honored ako sa trust na binigay sa akin," the young actor said. "Sa story conference mas maraming conflicts at bagong characters at talagang kaabang-abang," he added.

In the series finale, which aired in mid-April, Angelito (played by JM de Guzman) is reunited with his high school sweetheart Rosalie (Charee Pineda). The series followed the journey of Angelito as he faced the responsibility of being a father after he accidentally got his high school girlfriend pregnant.

Aside from Angelito: Ang Bagong Yugto, de Guzman also finished shooting his Cinemalaya film Intoy Syokoy. ( see the complete list of Cinemalaya 2012 film entries here). He is also set to do a film with Andi Eigenman for Regal Films.

8th Cinemalaya Film Festival 2012 Official List of Entries Revealed!

The Cinemalaya Foundation and the Cultural Center of the Philippines announced on Friday, May 25 the official list of films that made it as entries to the 8th Cinemalaya Film Festival 2012.

There are 25 films that will be competing in three different categories namely: the New Breed Full Length Feature category, the New Breed Short Film category, and the Director's Showcase category.

8th Cinemalaya Film Festival 2012 (July 20-29)

The 25 films, each of which received a seed grant of P500, 000, will be shown on July 20-29 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines and the Ayala Cinemas in Greenbelt Makati and Trinoma Quezon City.

JM de Guzman's "Intoy Syokoy" Goes to Cinemalaya 2012!

Angelito: Batang Ama lead star JM de Guzman topbills indie film Intoy Syokoy which eventually became a finalist in the New Breed Category of the 2012 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival. The movie, which is written by Jerry Gracio is based on  Eros Atalia’s Palanca award-winning novel Si Intoy Syokoy Ng Kalye Marino.

Intoy Syokoy will showcase a love story set at the famed Kalye Marino in Sangley Point, Cavite, as well as the rich history of the place from the time of American occupation up to the present.

In the movie, JM plays Intoy, a tahong diver that fell in love with a prostitute, played by LJ Reyes. LJ and JM are expected to go daring in this movie not just with their love scene but also with the given shooting of scenes deep  in the water which is required of JM's tahong diver character. LJ, as a prostitute will also need to shoot love scenes with several customers.

Produced by Boy Abunda and Boy So, Intoy Syokoy will be under the direction of Lem Lorca. The film will also star Joross Gamboa, Arnold Reyes, Roy Alvarez, Kristoffer King, Richard Quan, Angela Ruiz, Jacob Miller, Ricky Pascua, Redgie Jimenez, Justin de Leon, Nanding Josef and Kenneth Salva.
