Actor Matt Evans denied the allegations that he hurt his live-in partner Johnelline Hickins and her brother Juan Alberto Carlotta. In a press conference held on Tuesday, October 23, Matt aired his side of the story and insisted that he did not hurt the mother of his own child.
"Hindi ko alam kung bakit sobrang ibang iba yung statement nila," Matt said adding that he was hurt by the false accusations of Hickins and her brother.
"Ako po yung tipo ng taong kahit anong problema ang ibigay mo sa akin ay ngingitian ko lang tatawanan ko lang. Hindi po ako mananakit, hindi po ako nananakit, hindi po mabigat ang kamay ko. Kung may problema, as much as possible, gusto ko inaayos kaagad, hindi po pinakukumplika," he said admitting that he went away when Hickins brother pointed a knife at him.
Matt's lawyer, Atty. Joji Alonso said that there's only one knife when the authorities arrived at the scene and that was held by Juan Alberto, refuting claims that Matt had the knife first. She also clarified that Matt was not drunk that night and that he did not push Hickins down the stairs.
Matt and Johnelline had been living together for a year but he said that their relationship is not perfect. Matt said he believes it was his girlfriend’s intention to make him mad as part of the planned surprise birthday party for him but things went overboard.
“Mali yun eh. Aawayin mo muna ta’s meron kang surprise. Parang pinaglalaruan mo yung emosyon ng tao,” said Matt who also said that Hickins visited him three times while in jail. When asked what he's telling Johnelline, Matt said that he begged his girlfriend not to pursue the case, but when she refused, Matt vowed to fight until his name is cleared.
Matt also did an interview with Boy Abunda airing his side which will air on Sunday, October 28 on The Buzz.
