Nash Aguas and Anne Curtis Joins Kuya Kim in Matanglawin 'Under the Sea' Adventure (March 30)

Posted on March 29, 2014 | 9:28 PM

Kuya Kim joins forces with teen heartthrob Nash Aguas and Dyesebel herself, Anne Curtis, for an under the sea adventure that will cap off Matanglawin’s month-long sixth anniversary celebration this Sunday (Mar 30).

Nash Aguas and Anne Curtis Joins Kuya Kim in Matanglawin 'Under the Sea' Adventure (March 30)

Watch the “LUV U” star explore the Manila Ocean Park and interact with penguins, stinging jellyfish, and stingrays. “This is the first time I will do this. Are they really safe?” asked a hesitant Nash when he goes into the manta ray pool.

Nash isn’t the only one who has challenges to overcome because Anne also had to learn how to become a mermaid for her new role as Dyesebel. “Wearing the mermaid tail while swimming is really hard. It’s very heavy and only becomes buoyant when underwater,” explained Anne.

Anne also has to hold her breath too for quite some time.  “The longest time I was able to hold my breath was one minute and 25 seconds,” she added.

Kuya Kim will attest to that as he personally wears his own merman tail and sees if he can make it as Dyesebel’s newest leading man.

Now on its sixth year, “Matanglawin” continues to educate its viewers via fun-filled and trivia-filled episodes weekly. It has been consistently earning accolades from various award-giving bodies with Kuya Kim being among the top choices as best educational program host. Just recently, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) recognized the program with the very prestigious Ani ng Dangal award. “Matanglawin” also made it as finalist in the Educational/Instructional category of this year’s New York Festivals where it will compete with entries from different parts of the world.

Angel, Shaina, Toni and Bea's Anti-Gravity Yoga Featured in Matanglawin (February 9)

Posted on February 8, 2014 | 9:21 AM

Matanglawin goes to the extreme this Sunday (Feb 9) as Kim Atienza dares to experience some of Filipinos’ extreme past time activities, from skateboarding to bike palo, drumming, and anti-gravity yoga.

Angel, Shaina, Toni and Bea's Anti-Gravity Yoga Featured in Matanglawin (February 9)

Watch Kuya Kim take it to the streets as he learns more about skateboards from Pinoy skateboard group We Legendary. What are the various tricks you can do with this popular board with wheels?

From skateboards, the Trivia King hops into a bike with a mallet on his hand to try the Bike Palo. If you think polo is only done on horseback or in the pool, Bike Palo Philippines gives the famous sport a new twist.

The adrenaline rush continues to the beat of the drum played by Ravi and Renz. With the young age of eight, these two drummers have reflexes as quick as lightning and can make music that would make any rock band proud.

Meanwhile, Kuya Kim slows it down a bit by doing some yoga classes, but instead of doing it on the floor, he will do it while in the air via the anti-gravity yoga. This exercise is said to help one strengthen his/her spine and improve one’s flexibility and blood circulation. This unique yoga style is such a big hit even to celebrities like Angel Locsin, Toni Gonzaga, Shaina Magdayao, and Bea Alonzo.
