Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo was hailed Best Asian Artist in the Philippines during the 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards (2012 MAMA). This is the first time that the MAMA Awards give the said recognition to a Filipino artist.
Sarah Geronimo has been reaping awards this year, winning in various bodies such as the 25th Aliw Awards 2012 and the 25th Awit Awards.
Aside from Sarah, winners of the Best Asian Artist Award were Agnes Monica from Indonesia, My Tam from Vietnam, Taufik Batisah from Singapore, Li Yuchun from China, AKB48 from Japan and Taiwan's Wang Leehom.

This year, the MAMA Awards was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It was attended by K-Pop superstars including Big Bang, Super Junior, SISTAR, Wang Leehom and hot Korean stars. Adam Lambert, B.o.B and Jackie Chan also graced the festivities.
