Got to Believe Beats Carmela; The Legal Wife Pilot Slaps Rhodora X in National TV Ratings

ABS-CBN Primetime Bida continues to dominate nationwide TV ratings with the premiere of its first series for the year 2014, The Legal Wife starring Angel Locsin, Jericho Rosales, Maja Salvador and JC de Vera.

On its pilot episode on January 27, the said teleserye registered a national TV ratings  of 21%, beating rival program Rhodora X starring Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras, which also premiered on Monday. 

The Legal Wife also trended on Twitter worldwide claiming the first spot with several other terms related to the series dominating the Philippines' top 10 trends. The hashtag #TheLegalWifePilotEpisode is still trending as of this posting.

Meanwhile, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla's series Got to Believe put Marian Rivera's Carmela to shame after posting 29.8% TV ratings nationwide. The Kapuso program, on the other hand only got half of Got to Believe's rating (14.4%).

The Legal Wife and Got to Believe were also winners in Mega Manila and Metro Manila, according to Kantar Media.

Topping national TV ratings on January 27 is the primetime series Honesto starring Paulo Avelino, Janice de Belen, Eddie Garcia, Joel Torre, Angel Aquino and child star Raikko Mateo. The teleserye reigned with 33.3% ratings nationwide.

ABS-CBN 2014 New Shows Plug: Tayo'y Magsawan Dahil Masayang Muli ang Kwento Natin

ABS-CBN has released a plug for its new shows this 2014. The teaser plug, titled 'Masayang Muli ang Kwento Natin kapamilya' aired on Monday primetime.

The plug for ABS-CBN new shows for the first quarter features the song Magsayawan performed by Enrique Gil. The video, which started dull in black and white before featuring the colorful scenes, was directed by Paolo Ramos.

Shows featured in the new plug are Home Sweetie Home, The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles, The Legal Wife, Mira Bella and Dyesebel. Watch the ABS-CBN 2014 new shows teaser plug below.

Jericho Rosales, JC de Vera React on Buzz Created by Angel and Maja Slapping Scene in The Legal Wife

Internationally-acclaimed actor Jericho Rosales and new Kapamilya leading man JC de Vera cannot wait until January 27 when primetime TV viewers will finally discover the ‘real beauty’ of their upcoming drama series in ABS-CBN, “The Legal Wife.”

“I’m really amazed with how emotionally attached viewers are with the show, just by seeing our trailers. But our story is more than what the title implies. It’s not just about exposing infidelity,” said Jericho about the big buzz created by the slapping scene of their show’s lead actresses Angel Locsin and Maja Salvador.

“We want viewers to understand the real problems faced by married men, their wives, their families, and their relationships with others,” Jericho explained.

Like Jericho, JC takes pride in his first-ever Kapamilya teleserye and believes that the respective life battles of Monica (Angel), Nicole (Maja), Max (JC), and Adrian (Jericho) will keep viewers engaged with the show.

“The Legal Wife’ will let viewers see life from various angles. And since it tackles true-to-life situations, every viewer can connect with the characters and their families. Their lines are so real that once you hear it, it will make you think when was the last time you said it,” shared JC.

The Rory Quintos and Dado Lumibao-directed TV masterpiece also features some of the country’s best drama actors including Joem Bascon, Ahron Villena, Rio Locsin, Mark Gil, and Christopher de Leon.

Angel Locsin on Luis Manzano: "Mahal ko pa rin siya."

Actress Angel Locsin confessed that she still loves former boyfriend Luis Manzano during the press conference for her upcoming series The Legal Wife on Wednesday.

Angel said that she wanted to be honest to people, even though many haters will surely take advantage of her revelation that despite the two to three years that she's been trying to avoid the actor-host, she still has feelings for him.

"Oo mahal, mahal naman. Ang love hindi naman nawala pero hindi naman ibig sabihin noon eh magiging kayo ulit o magkakabalikan kayo, di ba? Kasi kailangan pag-usapan muna ang napakaraming pinagdaanan namin," she explained.

Angel and Luis had the chance to talked during the New Year when the host visited her and according to Angel, she and Luis are now in good terms.

"Pinag-uusapan namin 'yung mga bagay na hindi namin pinag-uusapan ...Pero masaya ako na okay na kami," Locsin said.

Angel Locsin broke up with football player Phil Younghusband last year but she clarified that Luis Manzano was not the reason, nor a third party.

"Hindi po talaga, sobrang hindi. Si Phil ilabas natin sa usapan pero masasabi ko honestly na wala kaming usap kahit text ni (Luis noong kami ni Phil) at masasabi ko minahal ko 'yung tao (si Phil) talaga. Walang panlolokong involved. Siguro habang tumatagal parang nare-realize mo 'yung pagkakamali," she said.

Angel is hoping that she and Luis will finally fix their differences and end up together again. 

"Sana kasi wala naman akong ibang makita pero depende 'yan sa amin kung magiging okay kami together. Right now, pinag-uusapan lang siguro ang dapat ayusin namin. Siguro di pa kami masyado mature," she said.

Angel Locsin on Slapping Maja Salvador: "It's not easy."

Angel Locsin and Maja Salvador are both thrilled with how their slapping scene in “The Legal Wife” trailer became a hot topic among TV viewers and netizens. However, Angel confessed that it was difficult for her to do it.

“Slapping Maja, whom I consider like my little sister, was not as easy as it looked like on screen. Actually, I really avoid having scenes like that because I don’t want to hurt my co-actors,” said Angel, who will play the role of Monica in the story, the wife of Adrian (to be played by Jericho Rosales).

Just like the viewers who felt the ‘power slap’ of Angel, Maja strongly feels that the brave, real-life plot of “The Legal Wife” will get primetime viewers hooked every night.

“My character and Angel, Jericho, JC’s (de Vera) all have their life battles. And I think every viewer can connect to any of them. Because in real-life, we all experience love, pain and fighting back,” said Maja, who will give life to the character of Nicole.

“The Legal Wife” gathers some of the country’s best drama actors including Joem Bascon, Ahron Villena, Rio Locsin, Mark Gil, and Christopher de Leon. It is under the direction of Rory Quintos and Dado Lumibao.

Angel Locsin is The Legal Wife - Soon on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida

ABS-CBN proudly brings another masterpiece in “The Legal Wife” featuring the much anticipated return to primetime TV of one of the country's brilliant actresses, Angel Locsin. The upcoming primetime family drama series also stars Jericho Rosales, Maja Salvador and JC de Vera.

“This is a family story that tells about the journey of Angel’s character, Monica. It will not only focus on the real-life ordeals of a legal wife but also share her stance and feelings as a daughter, sibling, mother, career woman, and friend,” said Creative Manager Henry King Quitain about the upcoming primetime series.

“The TV viewers should also watch out for the big twist within the story, how the love quadrangle will happen, and why we decided to title it ‘The Legal Wife,” added Henry.
