The world's greatest musical The Phantom of the Opera is coming to Manila this August 2012!

The Phantom of the Opera is the longest-running musical on Broadway. Based on the French novel Le Fantôme de l’Opéra by Gaston Leroux, the popular Andrew Lloyd Webber musical was was adapted into a 2004 film starring Emmy Rossum as Christine and Gerard Butler as The Phantom.

The Phantom of the Opera is a heart-wrenching story of the mysterious, hideously disfigured Phantom who lives beneath the Paris Opera House, and his obsession with the young singer Christine. Disguised as the "Angel of Music" he devotes himself to creating a new opera star, and winning her love from his rival Raoul, while exercising a reign of terror over the Opera House. 

This phenomenal hit celebrated its 25th anniversary on the West End stage last year and has been seen by over 130 million people worldwide in more than 27 countries. Now, the award-winning musical will grace the stages of Manila for a strictly limited season.

Mig Ayesa, Vina Morales and Nyoy Volante Topbill 'Rock of Ages'

Filipino-Australian rocker MiG Ayesa will be reprising his role as Stacee Jaxx in the Manila production of the hit Broadway musical, Rock of Ages. 

MiG, who became popular in the Philippines when he joined and finished 3rd in the CBS singing reality show Rockstar INXS, is back on the city where he was born for the said show. 

Rock of Ages will also feature Filipino talents like Vina Morales as the stripper Sherrie Christian and Nyoy Volante as the busboy Drew Boley.

In the show, it is 1987 on the Sunset Strip in LA where Drew, a busboy, is dreaming of being a rock star while he works at the Strip’s most famous bar, The Bourbon Room. He meets Sherrie, a small-town girl who goes to LA to pursue her dreams of being an actress. They fall in love and then lose each other when the famous, sexy, over the top rock star, Stacee Jaxx comes into the picture.

The Philippine staging of Rock of Ages is brought to us by Atlantis Productions under the direction of Chari Arespacochaga. The show will run from June 15 to July 8, 2012 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of the RCBC Plaza in Makati City.

The movie adaptation of the Chris D’Arienzo book will be showing this June 14. The movie stars Tom Cruise as the rocker Stacee Jaxx, Julianne Hough as Sherrie Christian and Diego Boneta as Drew Boley.
