UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2013 Champion: NU Pep Squad

The NU Cheer Squadron was hailed the champion of the Samsung UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2013 held at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena on Sunday, September 15, the squad's very first UAAP cheerdance title.

From last year's 2nd runner up finish, the National University Cheer Squadron really stepped up their game this year to claim their first UAAP CDC championship. Prior to this, the NU Cheer Squadron already bagged the title in the 2013 National Cheerleading Championships (NCC).

Eight schools competed for the crown and showcased amazing stunts and extravagant themed performances. The FEU Cheering Squad opened the competition with a charged Tamaraw routine, somewhat a continuation of their 2012 theme. Then, the UP Pep Squad made the audience dance with their party routine followed by the UE Pep Squad's fiery number.

The DLSU Animo Squad wear commando with their soldier-goes-to-war theme. The NU Cheer Squadron brought with them the magic lamp with their Arabian-inspired routine while the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe showcased an Egyptian-inspired number with a quick-change costume and pyramid props.

The last two showcases were delivered by the Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion and the Adamson Pep Squad, which did a sports-themed and a cabaret/burlesque-themed performances, respectively.

Hosted by Boom Gonzalez and Alex Gonzaga, the 2013 Samsung UAAP Cheerdance Competition is expected to have a replay at Balls Channel and Studio 23.

Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion Performance - UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2013 (Video)

Check out the performance of the Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion during the 2013 UAAP Cheerdance Competition on Sunday, September 15 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion went sporty with their theme this year. They channeled the spirit of different sports as they attempted to return to the podium this year. Their last podium finish was way back in  in 2009 when they emerged as first runner up.

UE Pep Squad Performance - UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2013 (Video)

Check out the performance of the UE Pep Squad during the 2013 UAAP Cheerdance Competition on Sunday, September 15 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The UE Pep Squad set the MOA Arena did a fiery routine coupled with red hairs, fiery costumes and hot choreography. They also did a poy dancing in the routine (perhaps they have wanted it real fire, if allowed).

UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe Performance - UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2013 (Video)

Check out the performance of the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe during the 2013 UAAP Cheerdance Competition on Sunday, September 15 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

From last year's Brazil theme, the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe brought us this year to Egypt showcasing an Egyptian-inspired number with a quick-change costume and pyramid props. Although the routine was not perfectly delivered, their gimmicks were quite amazing.

NU Cheer Squadron Performance - UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2013 (Video)

Check out the performance of the NU Cheer Squadron during the 2013 UAAP Cheerdance Competition on Sunday, September 15 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The NU Cheer Squadron brought with them the magic lamp with their Arabian-inspired routine. The male members of the squad shaved their heads to a very clean cut while the girls donned long whip-like hairs. The squad executed almost perfect stunts.

The Animo Squad wowed the audience with their military-inspired routine fully armed with guns and other training paraphernalia, clean execution and stable lifts and pyramids.

The FEU Cheering Squad started with their last pose during last year's competition. Their theme is somewhat a continuation of last year's show with steps very reminiscent of the jungle theme. However, the Tamaraw has been charged up.

The UP Pep Squad made everyone dance with their party-inspired routine. Donning the curls of Rihanna and shining party costume, the 'Pep Squad ng Bayan' amazed with synchronized dance and breath-taking stunts twice or thrice as difficult as last year's.

UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2013 Live September 15 on Studio 23 and Balls HD

The UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2013 will happen Sunday, September 15 at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena. One of the biggest event in UAAP, 2013 Cheerdance Competition will see another breath-taking performances and never-before-seen stunts from the 8 participating schools.

UAAP Season 76 cheerdance competition marks the second time that SM MOA Arena will be hosting the event. Surely, contingents and fans of member universities will flock the arena as early as Sunday morning to see the live action.

For those who are not able to get tickets, the 2013 UAAP Cheerdance Competition will be broadcast live on Studio 23 and BALLS HD 167 at around 1:30 pm. Also expect a live streaming at the uaapsports.tv website and at http://uaaplivestream.studio23.tv/

The UP Pep Squad, the winningest team in the annual UAAP cheerdance, is once again up to defend its title to win their first ever four consecutive championships and be the first team to clinch 9 titles. However, also hyped to snatch the title this year are FEU Cheering Squad and the NU Cheer Squadron, last year's 1st and 2nd runners up, respectively.

Can the above groups continue their winning streak and maintain a podium finish or one from the other 5 universities, especially the 8-time champion UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, will come as a surprise and eventually win it all?

UAAP Season 76 Opening Ceremony Airs on Studio 23 and Balls HD this June 29

The never-ending greatness in sports continues for the athletes of the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) as the league formally kicks off another action-packed season this Saturday (June 29), 12:30 PM at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.  Watch the UAAP Season 76 opening ceremony live on television and online with ABS-CBN Sports’ comprehensive coverage to be aired on free-to-air channel Studio 23, cable channel BALLS High Definition (SkyCable ch 167), and to be streamed via UAAP’s official website (http://uaapsports.tv).

Host school Adamson University is set to open the season with a grand production number inspired by the science fiction movie “The Hunger Games” to be performed by dancers from Adamson and other member schools. Former Adamson basketball greats and UAAP legends like Hector Calma and Kenneth Duremdes will also grace the event.

After the ceremonies, the Senior Men’s Basketball tourney officially begins as the University of the East (UE) Warriors battles the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws at 2 PM, and the De La Salle University Green Archers (DLSU) takes on the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers at 4 PM.

Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons is set to go against the Adamson University (AdU) Soaring Falcons on Sunday (June 30) at 2 PM, to be followed by the toss-up between the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Blue Eagles and the National University (NU) Bulldogs at 4 PM.

Will the five-time defending champion Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) Blue Eagles keep their supremacy in the hardcourt? Which school will be declared overall champion by the prestigious league this season?

UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2012 Champion: UP Pep Squad

The 2012 UAAP Cheerdance Competition (CDC) was held September 22 at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena and the UP PEP SQUAD was declared the champion. The squad achieved a three-peat (three consecutive championships) and won their 8th championship over-all, tying the feat of UST.

Just like last year, UP Pep Squad clinched all the major awards being champion in the Group Stunts category and having won the Samsung Stunner Award (Nicolette Erica Ambulo).

Eight schools competed for the crown and showcased amazing stunts and extravagant themed performances. The Adamson Pep Squad opened the competition with a KPOP-themed performance. The squad was followed by last year's 1st runner-up, the DLSU Animo Squad which quite gave us a knockout performance with their boxing-themed routine. The NU Pep Squad went Disney with their fairytale-inspired routine wearing white and blue royal attires.

Meanwhile, the FEU Cheering Squad had gone wild and took us to the world of animals with their jungle-crazy performance. The UE Pep Squad gave us a bit of a warrior with their superhero-inspired routine. The UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe brought us to Brazil with their Samba-themed cheerdance.

The Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion have an anime-inspired performance ending with a robot (Voltes V). The defending champion, UP Pep Squad did a minimalist routine and a freedom-inspired performance, surprising all with clean-shaven heads (even the girls).

UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2012

The UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2012 will happen today, September 22 at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena. One of the biggest event in UAAP, the 2012 Cheerdance Competition will saw another breath-taking performances and never-before-seen stunts from the 8 participating schools.

For years now, the UAAP Cheerdance Competition is held at the Araneta Coliseum so this will be the first time that SM MOA Arena will be tested in hosting the UAAP cheerdance. Surely, contingents and fans of member universities will flock the arena as early as Saturday morning to see the live action.

For those who are not able to get tickets (which SM said were already sold out), don't worry because the 2012 UAAP Cheerdance Competition will be broadcast live on Studio 23 at 2 pm. 

Will UP Pep Squad defend its title and go for a 3-peat and its eighth championship over-all or will it be snatched again by the charged FEU Cheering Squad just like what they did in 2009? Can UST Salinggawi Dance Troup rebound and go back to a podium finish this year or one from the other 5 universities will came off as a surprise just like the feat of DLSU Animo Squad last year?
