Ella Cruz, Francis Magundayao, Bugoy Cariño Star in Oh My Genius! Special of Wansapanataym

Kapamilya teen stars Ella Cruz and Francis Magundayao, and award-winning child actor Bugoy Cariño star the newest month-long special of “Wansapanataym” titled ‘Oh My Genuis!’ which will premiere this Saturday (August 3).

“We’re really thankful because we’re given another chance to inspire young people like us,” said Ella who will portray the role of Minnie, the elder sister of the young genius named Edison (Bugoy) and the special friend of Benson (Francis).

“TV viewers will surely learn a lot from every episode of ‘Oh My Genius,” Ella shared. “Aside from valuing the love of the family, Minnie, Edison, and Benson’s story will teach everyone the importance of hard work and the dangerous effects of abusing one’s power.”

Also joining Ella, Francis, and Bugoy in their “Wansapanataym” special are Dennis Padilla, Jason Francisco, and Igi Boy Flores. It is written by Noreen Capili and Ferdinand Aguas, and directed by Erick Salud.

National TV Ratings (July 27-28): ASAP 18 Scores Sweetest Victory over Sunday All Stars

ABS-CBN Sunday musical variety show ASAP 18 registered 14.6% TV ratings on July 28, 4.7 points higher than rival Sunday All Stars, ratings of which dropped to a single digit (9.9%) nationwide.

Meanwhile, Wansapanataym presents Petrang Paminta and The Voice of the Philippines were the most-watched programs last weekend. The finale episode of Julia Barretto's Wansa starrer got 36.5% beating perennial number 1 MMK while The Voice PH Battle Rounds kick off reigned on Sunday.

The Buzz, which featured an exclusive interview with Billy Crawford about his break up with Nikki Gil is the third most-watched daytime program with 13.1%.

National TV Ratings (July 19-20): Juan Dela Cruz Hits 36.2%

ABS-CBN's Juan Dela Cruzhas proven once more that it's the country's number 1 show when it registered 36.2% TV rating on Friday, July 19. The show's rating was a far cry from second place Muling Buksan Ang Puso with only 28.4%.

Meanwhile, Maalaala Mo Kaya starring former best child actors Carlo Aquino and Lester Llansang was the most-watched last Saturday with 35.3% rating followed by Wansapanataym Petrang Paminta of Julia Barretto.

Why Can't Diego Loyzaga Court Julia Barretto?

Kapamilya teen stars Julia Barretto and Diego Loyzaga are in a battle against all odds this Saturday (July 20) as the budding friendship of their characters in “Wansapanataym Presents Petrang Paminta” goes through a lot of challenges in the continuation of the TV series, which also topbills Kapamilya child wonders Zaijian Jaranilla and Xyriel Manabat.

After confessing his real feelings to Petra (Julia), Sancho (Diego) is forced by his father to court Marikit (Kiray Celis) instead so they can finally acquire the pepper farm that they’ve wanted to have for a long time. Meanwhile, because of jealousy, Marikit decides to embarrass Petra in front of a lot of people during Sancho’s birthday. 

How will Sancho prove his feelings for Petra despite everyone’s disapproval? How will Sancho help the sisters Petra and Aya (Xyriel) to fight for their right in their family’s properties that were stolen by their wicked aunt? 

Also featured in the “Wansapanataym Presents Petrang Paminta” are Ruby Rubi, Epy Quizon, Jayson Gainza, Tess Antonio, Alora Sasam, and Eric Nicolas. The MMK episode of Angeline Quinto is the most-watched program last weekend garnering a nationwide TV rating of 36.5%, even higher than Paulo Avelino's MMK the prior week. In the said episode, Angeline plays a clown to support her family.

Kapamilya teen star Julia Barretto is grateful to ABS-CBN for getting her career off to a good start with the top-rating “Wansapanataym” special, which she topbills alongside child wonders Zaijian Jaranilla and Xyriel Manabat.

“I’m very thankful to ABS-CBN for giving me this opportunity to be a part of another ‘Wansapanataym’ special. Aside from being my training ground in acting, it also gives us the chance to teach and impart kiddie TV viewers with good values,” said Julia, who admittedly enjoys working with Zaijian and Xyriel. “I enjoy spending time with them on the set because they are like my younger siblings. They are fun to be with, kind and very professional.”

Meanwhile, unlike the good working relationship of Julia, Zaijian, and Xyriel in real life, the friendship of their characters in “Wansapanataym Presents Petrang Paminta” will be tested this Saturday (July 13), as Aya (Xyriel) tells the secret of her sister Petra (Julia) and the ‘prince of peppers’ Pampam (Zaijian) to others. Now that their world is in danger, dwarves decide to throw Pampam out of their kingdom and transform him into a human. How will Pampam’s friendship with the sisters change especially now that the love of his life Petra is getting closer with her childhood friend Sancho (Diego Loyzaga)?

Julia Barretto Confronts Wicked Aunt in Wansapanataym

Wansapanataym Presents Petrang Paminta starring Julia Barretto, Zaijian Jaranilla and Xyriel Manabat instantly captured the hearts of TV viewers as its first episode ruled its timeslot last Saturday (June 29). 

Based on the data from Kantar Media, the special’s pilot episode garnered 31.6% national TV ratings, compared to the 17.5% episode of its rival program in GMA “Vampire Ang Daddy Ko.”

In the next episode of the TV remake of Pablo Gomez’ novel this Saturday (July 6), sisters Petra (Julia) and Aya (Xryiel) continues to suffer after their wicked aunt took their pepper farm and all their father’s wealth away from them. Because of her promise to her father that she will always obey her aunt, Petra could not do anything to fight for her and her sister’s rights. 

How will the ‘prince of peppers’ Pampam (Zaijian) help Petra and Aya from the cruelty of their own relatives? Kapamilya child wonders Zaijian Jaranilla and Xyriel Manabat together with one of today’s most promising stars Julia Barretto will share important life values beginning this Saturday (June 29) via “Wansapanataym Presents Petrang Paminta.”

Based from the novel of Pablo Gomez titled “Petrang Paminta,” “Wansapanataym Presents Petrang Paminta” will be directed by box-office director Wenn V. Deramas. 

The “Wansapantaym” special will feature the story of sisters Petra (Julia) and Aya (Xyriel) who are working in the pepper farm owned by their cruel aunt. A dwarf named Pampam (Zaijian) begins to help the sisters secretly because of pity and his special admiration for Petra. How will the lives of the sisters change because of the magical peppers they cultivate? 

Also joining Julia, Xyriel, and Zaijian in the “Wansapanataym” special are Diego Loyzaga, Ruby Rubi, Kiray Celis, Atak Aranas, Maricar de Mesa, Epi Quizon, Jayson Gainza, Tess Antonio, Joey Paras, and Alora Sasam.

ABS-CBN Clinches 13 of 15 Top Programs Nationwide in May 2013

ABS-CBN dominated nationwide TV ratings for the month of May by virtue of its weeklong top-caliber offerings that continue to gain significant increases as more and more viewers watch them on both weekday and weekend nights.

Out of the top 15 regular airing programs in May, 13 were produced by ABS-CBN. Superhero drama “Juan Dela Cruz” remained at number one with 33.3%, followed by “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (30.8%), “Ina Kapatid Anak” (30.5%), and “Wansapanataym” (28.6%).

Most Filipinos also relied on “TV Patrol” for news as it registered a national TV rating of 26%, or 10 points ahead of GMA’s “24 Oras” (16%). “Be Careful With My Heart” remained as the most watched daytime program in May with 25%, while “Pilipinas Got Talent,” which recently concluded its fourth season, finished off the said month with 23.1%.

News magazine program “Rated K” climbed seven spots to number 8 in May with a national TV rating of 22.3%. The other ABS-CBN shows in the Top 15 are “Apoy sa Dagat” (20.8%), “Minute to Win It” (20.5%), “Gandang Gabi Vice” (19.8%), Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” (19%), and “Goin’ Bulilit” (19%).
