Direk Lauren Dyogi Admits to Poor Set and Lighting of The Voice of the Philippines

ABS-CBN executive Direk Lauren Dyogi admits to being frustrated on the set design and lighting of The Voice of the Philippines. The singing reality show premiered last June 15 and airs Saturday and Sunday primetime.

Many The Voice fans kept on comparing the stage design of the Philippine version to its US and UK counterparts. Even before the show started airing the Blind Auditions, leaked photos of the set taken by the audience during the taping were highly criticized.

"There is much frustration on our set n lights. Pati naman kami. But it's unreasonable to be compared to US UK version," Direk Lauren tweeted. 

"Wala sa katiting ang budget namin compared sa kanila plus syndication revenues for them. We concentrate on content na lang . Its our 1st naman," he added on another tweet saying that with a limited budget, the team would rather spend more on coaches and scouting the artists than the set, at least for now.

While some are comparing The Voice of the Philippines stage with the more popular US and UK version, others can't help but also compare the Philippine version with the franchises of our Southeast Asian neighbors such as Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. 

"Went to Bangkok, agree they have nicer set! But we decided to allot our limited resources for coaches and artists search," Direk Lauren pointed out. 

"[I] am not familiar with Vietnam version, but do they fly in international stars as coaches? Thai all local stars," he added saying that the superstar coaches of The Voice of the Philippines more than compensate the lack of a grand set.

With so much talent on the show and the great chemistry among the coaches, most Filipinos would not mind what's there to appease the eyes but something that can uplift the soul. No wonder The Voice PH enjoyed loads of ads for its first two weekends.

"Sorry [it's] not possible [to have lesser commercials next time]. Bihira magiliw ang sponsors sa isang show," Direk Lauren told a complaining fan.

Direk Lauren has a message to all the critics ranting about the set and lighting of The Voice of the Philippines.

"Our set has approval from the franchise owners. Wala kaming laban sa pintas about our set! Noted and taken! But we have to live with that for now."

'The Voice Philippines' Audition Schedule Dates and Venue

The hit reality singing competition The Voice has arrived in the country!

ABS-CBN, the Philippines' largest network has acquired the franchise to the said talent competition. Titled The Voice of the Philippines, this will be under the business unit of Direk Laurenti Dyogi.

The Voice, which was created by John De Mol, the business tycoon behind Big Brother, Deal Or No Deal, 1 vs 100 and Fear Factor, among others originally aired in the Netherlands with the title The Voice of Holland before it was franchised internationally.

The auditions for The Voice of the Philippines started in the US, particularly in Los Angeles and San Francisco last September 15-16 and Philippine radio auditions and pre-screenings will be on January 7-11 at selected M.O.R radio stations.

Metro Manila – To qualify for the 'The Voice ng Radyo", you must be sixteen (16) years old and above. To join, call Tambayan 101.9 ( 924-26-84 o 415-1111).

The Voice of the Philippines will air second quarter of 2013 after the Season 4 finale of Pilipinas Got Talent. Toni Gonzaga will be hosting the show with Robi Domingo as the social media correspondent.

JM de Guzman Confirms Angelito: Batang Ama Sequel

Angelito himself, JM de Guzman confirmed that his hit afternoon series Angelito: Ang Batang Ama will have a sequel. Angelito ended last April and the sequel will be titled Angelito: Ang Bagong Yugto.

Direk Lauren Dyogi, head of the business unit which created Angelito also confirmed the news through his twitter account. "Angelito, bagong yugto has been approved for production. Congrats to the creative n production team. Congrats direk Ted n to your cast!," tweeted Direk Lauren last May 4.

The PBB genius also confirmed the return of Charee Pineda and Kaye Abad's character in the series. New characters will also be introduced, including John Prats. The series will again be directed by Theodore Boborol.

"Angelito , Rosalie at Jenny magbabalik! Soon! Excited with the new plots n additional characters," tweeted Direk Lauren referring to JM, Charee and Kaye's characters in the series.

JM de Guzman, in an interview with the members of the press last May 29 said he is very thankful for the trust the management is giving him. He also thanked fans for support and promised more exciting twists and conflicts in the Angelito sequel.

"Thankful ako sa mga nagmahal at sumuporta. Ako sobrang honored ako sa trust na binigay sa akin," the young actor said. "Sa story conference mas maraming conflicts at bagong characters at talagang kaabang-abang," he added.

In the series finale, which aired in mid-April, Angelito (played by JM de Guzman) is reunited with his high school sweetheart Rosalie (Charee Pineda). The series followed the journey of Angelito as he faced the responsibility of being a father after he accidentally got his high school girlfriend pregnant.

Aside from Angelito: Ang Bagong Yugto, de Guzman also finished shooting his Cinemalaya film Intoy Syokoy. ( see the complete list of Cinemalaya 2012 film entries here). He is also set to do a film with Andi Eigenman for Regal Films.

PBB Teen Edition 4 Extended to 10 Weeks!

With the hype that PBB Teen Edition 4 creates today, the management has decided to extend the  4th teen edition of the said reality show to 10 weeks. Yes, you heard it right, PBB Teens 4 is extended until June.

The confirmation came from PBB business unit head Direk Laurenti M. Dyogi. In his Twitter account, Direk Lauren expressed his gratitude towards PBB fans and avid viewers since there's no one night that PBB did not create buzz. In fact, it has a perfect attendance on the micro-blogging site Twitter's trending topics since it was launched last April 8.

"Salamat sa lahat na nag aabalang manuod at magtweet, making pbb4 trend every night. On behalf of the whole team our warmest gratitude!," Direk Lauren tweeted.

He also shared the good news to all PBB Teens 4 followers by tweeting "Pbbteens extended to ten weeks! Thanks for all the support!"

Direk Lauren admitted that this edition of PBB is one of their best seasons ever in its 7-year history. He related its success to the hard-working team and a good batch of housemates. 

Originally, PBB Teen Edition 4 is slated for an eight-week run but due to positive reviews and overwhelming support from fans, it has been extended to 10 weeks. The Big Night will be held sometime in June and Direk Lauren said that PBB Teen Edition 4 will be the last PBB edition for this year so fans should wait a little longer before auditions start again next year.
