Aside from the fact that the story will tackle a father-daughter relationship, Iza immediately accepted the challenging role of a severely depressed woman because her mother went through it. “This ‘MMK’ is significant to me because it’s a very personal story,” she shared. “My mom had depression. Actually, she was bipolar. That’s why I empathized with the story.”
When asked if she ever felt depressed in her life, the Kapamilya primetime star quickly answered, “Trials are part of life. I’ve been so sad, yes. But I’ve never experienced major depression and I don’t want to reach that point.”
Iza added that she liked the life story of her character Rosalyn because she was able to overcome the severity of her disease. “I’m glad that this ‘MMK’ is a tale of triumph. She chose to fight and conquer something that would usually bring a person down. The ending is really beautiful,” she said.
In Iza’s second “MMK” episode, TV viewers will witness the personal battle of Rosalyn, a doctor who suffered from major depression due to a series of unfortunate incidents in her life, particularly because of her philandering father, Gilbert (Bembol Roco). Rosalyn got angry at her father and their relationship started to fall apart. At first, she was diagnosed to have paranoia and major depression; but later on she was brought to a psychiatrist who declared that she was ill with bipolar disorder. Despite this, Rosalyn was determined to prove them wrong so she could continue with her mission to help others as a doctor.
Aside from Iza and Bembol, the upcoming “MMK” episode will feature Louella De Cordova, Cheska Iñigo, Pia Romero, Phytos Kyriacou, Ismael Clavero, Edward Mendez, Kalila Aguilos, Lowell Conales, Kyline Alcantara, and Sofia Millares. It was researched by Alexandra Mae Martin, written by Maan Dimaculangan-Fampulme, and directed by Mae Czarina Cruz.
