NBA superstar LeBron James is set to visit Manila, Philippines on July 23, Nike Philippines announced on Friday, July 12. LeBron is one of the long-time endorsers of the said footwear and apparel brand.
Lebron, who led the Miami Heat on its back-to-back NBA championship last month will be flying to Manila on the 23rd to inspire young Filipino athletes to strive for greatness and keep working hard as he did to win two consecutive championship titles.
Aside from being a two-time NBA champion, "King James" is a four-time NBA Most Valuable Player, a two-time NBA Finals MVP, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, an NBA scoring champion, and the NBA Rookie of the Year.
According to reports, LeBron James' Manila visit was already in the bag even before the NBA Finals started. "For those asking, LBJ said yes to the trip even before the NBA finals began. Win or lose, he was coming," said Boom Gonzalez, sports analyst and host who will also be hosting the event.
Filipino fans can witness history and see LeBron live on July 23. Tickets will be distributed at Nike Park in Bonifacio Global City at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17. Tickets are free of charge and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Only two tickets will be given per person.
LeBron James' "Witness History" Manila tour comes just months before NBA teams the Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers are set to play a pre-season game at the MOA Arena, also a first in Philippine and NBA history.
Among the stars coming to Manila in that historic game to be held on October 10, 2013 are Indiana's Paul George, David West and Roy Hibbert and Houston's James Harden, Jeremy Lin, Chandler Parsons, Omer Asik and its recent free agent acquisition Dwight Howard.
