'The Healing' Official Full Trailer Released!

Star Cinema has just released the official full trailer for the upcoming horror/suspense movie The Healing starring Vilma Santos and Kim Chiu. The Healing full trailer premiered on television, July 1st on The Buzz.

The Healing is Gov. Vilma Santos' 50th anniversary movie and this is equally monumental as the Star For All Season's first ever suspense-horror film. It will tackle Filipinos' tradition of resorting to faith healers for guidance and treatment of ailments with a horrifying twist.

Also starring Mark Gil, Martin del Rosario, Allan Paule, Cris Villanueva, Daria Ramirez, Ces Quesada, Ynez Veneracion, Simon Ibarra, Abi Bautista, Joel Torre, Chinggoy Alonso, Mon Confiado, Carmi Martin and Pokwang and under the direction of Chito S. Roño (Feng Shui, Sukob, T2), The Healing is showing in theaters, July 25.

Vilma Santos' 50th Anniversary Movie 'The Healing' Showing this July 25

ABS-CBN and Star Cinema pay tribute to the 50 illustrious years in showbiz of the Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos through a one-of-a-kind film titled, “The Healing.”

Vilma’s 50th anniversary movie is equally monumental as this is her first-ever suspense-horror movie. “It’s a perfect project after ‘In My Life,’ which was three years ago. And since I don’t do movies that frequent, I might as well give the public something different,” said Vilma. “This is my first time to do a suspense-horror and I’m so proud of it.”

Governor Vi shared that she is so elated with the fact that she is working now with some of the entertainment industry’s best, including the Master director Chito Roño. “I’ve been asking for so long for something this and I’m so glad that it’s finally happening. With the undeniable top caliber of Star Cinema, Direk Chito, and our award-wining cast, how can I go wrong!” she remarked.

Vilma added that she is particularly excited with her first movie project with one of ABS-CBN’s primetime princess Kim Chiu, “Honestly, Kim is a great actress and I can feel that her career will surely go far in showbiz,” she said.

True enough, “The Healing” is totally a new brand of suspense-horror that will surely make a mark in the Philippine horror cinema. “Stories about the Filipino tradition of going to faith healers for guidance and treatment of ailments have not yet been tackled in-depth in movies. And in our film, the viewers will not just be horrified, they’ll somehow be challenged to think as to how faith healing has already been part of the our culture,” Vilma narrated.

In honor of Vilma’s 50th anniversary, Star Cinema gathered an all-star highly acclaimed powerhouse cast composed of Kim, Pokwang, Mark Gil, Martin del Rosario, Allan Paule, Cris Villanueva, Daria Ramirez, Ces Quesada, Ynez Veneracion, Simon Ibarra, Abi Bautista, Joel Torre, Chinggoy Alonso, Mon Confiado, Carmi Martin and Pokwang!

'The Healing' Starring Vilma Santos and Kim Chiu Showing this July 25

Vilma Santos and Kim Chiu star in the upcoming horror film The Healing under Star Cinema. The movie is the first time we will see Kim Chiu and Governor Vi together in the big screen.

The Healing, which is directed by no less than Chito S. Roño (Feng Shui, Sukob, T2) is set for a July 25 release.

In The Healing, Gov. Vilma Santos will be playing a stepmother role to Kim's character. Meanwhile, Kim's role is very challenging as her character has a doppelgänger. This term, which literally means "double walker" in German, refers to a ghostly double of a living person, typically representing evil or misfortune. 

In an interview, Kim said that she learned a lot working with Gov. Vi and Direk Chito. “It’s a wonderful experience. Ang dami kong natutunan sa kanya as an actress and as a person, and kay direk Chito (Roño) rin, sobra akong nag-enjoy. Parang nag-grow ‘yung acting ko. Marami akong natutunan in terms of work sa set.”

Kim also shared an advice from the Star For All Seasons. “Sabi niya, gawin mo ang dapat mong gawin sa isang eksena, huwag mong sasayangin. Paulit-ulit niyang sinasabi na sayang ‘yung eksena.”

Aside from Kim and Gov. Vi, The Healing also stars Janice De Belen, Martin del Rosario, Mark Gil, Carmi Martin, Cris Villanueva, Ynez Veneracion and Pokwang.

John Lloyd Cruz Covers StarStudio June 2012 Issue

John Loyd Cruz scores another magazine cover this June as he is on the cover of StarStudio June 2012  "The Screen Royalty' issue. John Lloyd also graces the cover of Esquire Philippines for its June 2012 issue (see his Esquire cover here).

On the cover, the magazine said, "StarStudio takes a most detailed and intimate look into the life of the King of Contemporary Cinema as he marks 15 successful years in showbiz." John Lloyd now embarks on his reunion teleserye with Bea Alonzo. They just returned from Vienna after shooting the pilot episode of their teleserye, A Beautiful Affair in Europe. They were also interviewed by the local news of ORF, Austria's national TV station (see shooting photos and ORF interview link here).

Luis' visit to rival network GMA7 was a deal between the two networks since Jennylyn Mercado also crossed over ABS-CBN for Luis Manzano's birthday celebration on Kapamilya Deal or No Deal.

Luis Manzano's guesting on Showbiz Central made it to top trending topics nationwide in the microblogging site Twitter. The hashtag #LuisJen also appeared for sometime in worldwide top Twitter trends.

Luis' mom, Governor Vilma Santos-Recto also greeted Jennylyn in a VTR shown on SC.

Jennylyn Mercado Chooses Briefcase No. 7 on Kapamilya Deal or No Deal

After Gov. Vilma Santos, another special girl in Luis Manzano’s life will try to make a good deal with the Banker as the second part of the host-actor’s birthday celebration continues this Saturday (Apr 28) in the hit game show “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal.”

Actress Jennylyn Mercado appears on the Kapamilya Network for the very first time just for Luis. She even went through the tension of picking the right briefcases in hopes of winning the P2 million jackpot. Luis expressed how happy he was that Jennylyn was allowed to appear on ABS-CBN.

Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson Reunited in New Movie

Former on- and off-screen couple Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson will be reunited on the big screen for an upcoming movie in celebration of Star Magic's 20th anniversary. 

Kim Chiu, in an interview with ABS-CBN news said that she already started shooting some scenes for the movie.

“Nagsimula na ako kahapon, pero hindi ko siya ka-eksena. Okay lang naman. Kung trabaho, trabaho. Magkaibigan naman talaga kami. Wala naman kaming pinag-awayan as kaming dalawa.” 

The said movie will also feature other Star Magic big stars and famous onscreen team ups. Aside from Kim and Gerald, the movie will also star Piolo Pascual, Jake Cuenca, Diether Ocampo, Pokwang, Angelica Panganiban and John Lloyd Cruz, the latter two even have their movie shoot in Vietnam.

“Ang dami namin sa movie. Hindi siya naka-focus sa isang tao lang so ang daming mangyayari. May eksena kami ni Gerald, mayroon din sa ibang artista. Pero 'yung main story it’s all about love. Parang lahat ng bagay gagawin mo alang-alang sa pag-ibig,” Kim explained.

In the interview, Kim Chiu also said that she is happy for Gerald, who is being romantically linked to Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo.

“Super happy ako para kay Gerald. Sa kung ano man ang naabot niya ngayon sa personal life niya at sa career niya, masayang masaya ako.”

Right now, Kim said she's enjoying the single life and is just waiting for Mr. Right to come.

"Siyempre naninigurado lang tayo. Mayroon naman kahit papano na (umaaligid). Na-e-enjoy ko naman ang nangyayari sa buhay ko ngayon na (single). Pwede naman magka-relasyon kung nandiyan 'yung tamang lalaki.”

Kim is now being romantically-linked to his My Binondo Girl leading man, Xian Lim who admitted his admiration for the actress. Aside from the Star Magic movie, she is also busy with another movie, The Healing together with Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto and Pokwang.

Ai Ai-Vilma Movie In the Works

According to PEP.ph, a new movie which stars Box office Comedy Queen Ai Ai Delas Alas and Star For All Seasons, Vilma Santos-Recto is now on a planning stage. The movie is said to be directed by 2010 MMFF Best Director, Wenn Deramas.

This will be another comedy offering from Star Cinema and rumor has it that this movie might be the movie outfit's entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival. If that will be so, we can expect a lot new surprises. Vilma always star in a movie with a dramatic theme while Ai Ai had comedy as her comfort zone. The planned team up between 2 of the best actresses in the Philippines and combining 2 different genres and personalities in one movie might get the notch.

But what will happen to the supposed return of Ai Ai and Vic tandem in the MMFF. Early this year, there are talks that there will be a second Enteng-Ina movie this year (probably for the 2012 MMFF, what with latest MMFF top grosser which broke records in MMFF history?). Some insiders also claim that senator Bong Revilla is negotiating with Star Cinema for an MMFF team up.

Whatever it will be, this Ate Vi and Ai movie will be another to look forward to whether in the filmfest or not.
