Kapamilya actress Bangs Garcia is now shooting for her first title-role movie Lauriana, an entry to the Sineng Pambansa Film Festival 2013 of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
According to Bangs, Lauriana is her most daring film to date. The movie, directed by Mel Chionglo from the script of award-winning writer Ricky Lee, is a period film set during the 1950s about a Philippine Constabulary soldier and his wife. Tackling dark obsessive love, sex, jealousy, as well as violence against women and children, the movie's plot is based on a true story.
"Sexy 'yung love scenes namin, pero 'yung scenes na pinapahirapan ako ni Allen [Dizon] dahil sa sobrang pagseselos niya that borders on obsession, nasaktan talaga ako. Talaga namang karumal-dumal, nakakakilabot ang ginawa niya sa pagkababae ko," said Bangs in her Journal interview.
"It’s my first mature role, I’ve never done the scenes na pinagawa sa’kin dito. I’ve done love scenes with Jake Cuenca on TV, pero naka-tube ako. Dito, naka-plaster lang ako," added Bangs who plays a baylerina (dancer) who fell in love with a PC captain played by Allen Dizon.
Bangs' fans are now excited to see the movie, not just because of her sexy scenes (which according to some reports will have some breast exposure and a scene of putting a chastity belt on her) but also to see the sexy actress broaden her horizons in acting.
Bangs Garcia, who has won a Gawad Pasado Best Supporting Actress trophy, is back on the radar to bag awards for her role in Lauriana. Bangs said that being a second choice for the role does not matter as she saw the movie as a big challenge.
"I want to go up sa next level ng pag-arte with this movie. Feeling ko, dito, naging tunay na aktres na ako. Feeling ko, kahit sexy ang movie namin, I won’t be considered just as a sexy actress. Magiging respectable pa rin ako and Lauriana is something I can always be proud of."
The Sineng Pambansa Film Festival is scheduled to open 2nd week of September 2013.
