Coco Martin, Megan Young, Cory Vidanes Among 2013's 'People of the Year' Awardees

Posted on January 23, 2014 | 7:08 PM

ABS-CBN Broadcast Head Cory Vidanes was among the 14 personalities recognized by People Asia magazine in its annual “People of the Year” for her vital role in the achievements of the country’s largest media conglomerate over the past years, particularly her involvement and passionate support for the network’s public service campaigns.

“Servicing the Filipino people— that’s what we’re really here for. Our work is tough. There is so much stress, sacrifices, and sleepless nights. But at the end of the day, what keeps us going is the mission to reach out to Pinoys all over the world,” said Vidanes in the article.

In its 14th anniversary issue, People Asia highlighted how Vidanes can work quietly on the sidelines and achieve greatness without calling much attention to it.

Aside from spearheading campaigns that further increased ABS-CBN’s ratings, Vidanes has been very much involved in the network’s public service projects that include the network’s recent “Tulong Na, Tabang Na, Tayo Na” campaign for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda.

“I feel that I was put in this place by God because this is my purpose. If I can touch, empower or inspire the Filipino in any way I can, then I will always stay in ABS-CBN,” she added.

Other ABS-CBN personalities included on the list were actor Coco Martin, who was recognized for his contribution to Philippine television and cinema, and Miss World 2013 Megan Young, for being the first Filipina to win the much-coveted title after 62 years and for her embodiment of the pageant’s credo ‘beauty with a purpose.’

In 2010, ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio was also among the “People of the Year” awardees for being the first female president of the country’s leading media corporation.

People Asia began the ‘People of the Year’ awards back in 2004. It aims to recognize world-class Filipinos who have made the country proud with their achievements, advocacies, and notable contributions to the Filipino society.

Present during the contract signing were ABS-CBN president and CEO Charo Santos-Concio, TV Production head Laurenti Dyogi, broadcast head Cory Vidanes, talent manager Vic del Rosario and Sarah's parents.

"Solid Kapamilya po talaga," Sarah said at the sidelines of contract signing. "Very grateful sa ABS-CBN kasi very welcome ako lagi dito and well-loved and appreciated, so where else I would rather be, hindi ba?"

As part of the contract, Sarah will still be seen as a coach in the second season of The Voice of the Philippines. Other shows for Sarah are still in the planning stage but she surely would welcome another acting stint in Asia's longest-running drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya.

Will Sarah be having a teleserye soon?

"Ang paggawa ng serye, mahal ko din 'yan pero kailangan ko ding alagaan ang boses ko. Kasi kapag gumagawa ka ng series talagang puyatan. Talagang 'yung acting na gagamitin mo 'yung boses mo ay hindi mo pwedeng [dayain] yan," Sarah told ABS-CBN News.

Meanwhile, it is not yet revealed whether Sarah's own drama anthology, Sarah G Presents will push through next year. It can be recalled that the project was shelved because Sarah became busy as a coach in the first season of The Voice PH.

Diana Zubiri Transfers to ABS-CBN, Now a Certified Kapamilya!

Posted on September 7, 2012 | 6:30 PM

Sexy actress Diana Zubiri has transferred to the Kapamilya network!

Diana Zubiri signed a contract earlier with ABS-CBN. Present at the contract signing were ABS-CBN Channel Head Cory Vidanes, Business Unit Head Deo Endrinal and Diana's manager, Jojo Gabinete. Diana's first major project with the Kapamilya network is a primetime teleserye topbilled by Gerald Anderson and Cristine Reyes.

Diana Zubiri signed a contract with ABS-CBN, Now a certified kapamilya

It was late August when Diana Zubiri and her manager negotiated with ABS-CBN for possible projects and it seemed that the Kapamilya network wanted Diana in their stable of stars that few weeks later a contract was made for her to sign.

Before her transfer to ABS-CBN, Diana Zubiri has long been a Kapuso artist. She appeared in several shows in GMA-7 like Bubble Gang, Asian Treasures, Zaido, Futbolilits and Amaya. Her biggest TV role though was playing Danaya in the hit telefantasya Encantadia where she had worked with Karylle and Iza Calzado who are now both Kapamilya.

Could it be that ABS-CBN become interested with Diana Zubiri after being recognized as Best Peformer by the Young Critics Circle for the award-winning film Bahay Bata? Now that she had an acting award, we guess Diana also wanted a growth in her career.

Anyhow, welcome to the Kapamilya network, Diana. All the best!
