Princess and I Finale: Dasho Jao is the "I" in Princess and I

ABS-CBN's Royal teleserye Princess and I  ended successfully on Friday (February 1). The finale episode revealed the second character in the series' title—Dasho Jao.

In the final scenes of the top-rating series aired Friday night, Dasho Jao (Enrique Gil) has turned into a monk and is seen retelling his journey of love and redemption to a group of children, two years after he decided to spare Mikay/Princess Areeya from marrying him. 

"Tinuruan niya ang puso ko na mahalin ang aking sarili, na hanapin ang aking kalalagyan sa mundo, humingi ng tawad at magpatawad. Minahal niya ako, at mulang binuksan ang puso ko para tumanggap ng pag-ibig. Yes, she taught me how to love unconditionally. And that's the story of the 'Princess and I," Jao said.

Meanwhile, Ashi Behati (Gretchen Barretto) suffered insanity after the failed plan of overtaking Yangdon and accidentally hitting her own son Dasho Jao when she attempted to kill the princess with a gun.

A happily ever after ending was seen for the Princess and Dasho Yuan/Gino, who are engaged to be married  in two years time. Princess and I ended with a celebration at King Anand's (Albert Martinez) palace, with a shot of Gino and Mikay starting to kiss.

Ashi Behati's Visit in Manila Stirred Reactions from Fans

Amid the huge following of the hit love quadrangle happening among the teen cast of ABS-CBN’s top-rating primetime series “Princess and I,” TV viewers cannot help but notice the regal presence of the show’s villainess, Ashi Behati, portrayed by award-winning actress Gretchen Barreto.

La Greta recently claimed the spotlight as she stirred up strong emotions among the loyal followers of “Princess and I” since her character arrived in the Philippines to check on her son Dasho Jao, played by young actor Enrique Gil.

Behati’s surprise visit to Manila was such a hit among viewers that it generated various reactions via Twitter –

Being showbiz’ queen of high fashion and reminiscent of her “Magkaribal” days, fans of the “Princess and I” are already anticipating for the trends that Gretchen will come up with as Ashi Behati dons her ‘Manila royalty look’ in the next weeks to come.

What will be Ashi Behati’s role in Jao and Mikay’s (Kathryn Bernardo) love story—will she prevent her son from falling in love for a Filipino commoner or will Mikay’s good influence on Jao earn Behati’s approval? But how will Behati react once she finds out that Mikay, the girl who her son loves so much, is the long lost princess of Yangdon whom she once attempted to get rid off?

Like its story that gets more compelling night after night, the national TV ratings of “Princess And I” continues to leave the competition behind. Based on the combined average of nationwide urban and rural ratings of Kantar Media last June 20, it garnered 39.1% national TV ratings compared to its rival program in GMA, “Luna Blanca” which only got 15.7%, registering a 23.4 difference. The show remains the top 2 most watched TV program in the Philippines, next to “Walang Hanggan.”

Enrique Gil Says Kathryn Bernardo is His 'Ideal Girl'

Primetime prince Enrique Gil recently revealed that Kathryn Bernardo fits her ‘ideal girl’ but denied rumors that he has already started courting the “Princess and I” lead star.

Despite his denial, Enrique admitted that his leading lady is close to his heart. “Any guy would like Kathryn since she almost has all the great qualities of an ideal girlfriend. She is super kind and caring,” he shared.

Like his role in “Princess and I” Dasho Jao, who is attracted to Mikay’s bubbly personality, Enrique too is fond of Kathryn’s playfulness. He said, “She is so warm as a co-actor. We always joke around in the set that’s why it’s less stressful.”

Meanwhile, Enrique is grateful for their show’s consistent high national TV ratings. “All of the cast and staff’s hardwork is worth it because of the viewers’ support to us every night. Thank you very much,” said Enrique who is one of the lead stars of the upcoming Star Cinema film, “The Reunion” where he is co-starring with Enchong Dee, Xian Lim, and Kean Cipriano.

Enrique further shared that the strong point of their ‘royal teleserye’ is their not-so-heavy narrative. He expressed, “I think our show strikes a balance among the primetime shows of ABS-CBN because our story is just light with lots of love angles inside, giving the viewers positive vibes while watching.”
