Former UE Red Warriors player and model Gil Wagas from Lapu Lapu City, Cebu won the Mister International Philippines pageant held on June 21 at the Fil-Oil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.
The 21-year-old Cebuano bested 23 other contestants in what could be the biggest male pageant in the country yet. At a towering height of 6'3" and a body too die for, Gil Wagas is a favorite to win the title. Gil will carry the Philippine flag in Jakarta, Indonesia November this year for the Mister International 2013 world finals.
Rounding up the all-Visayan top 3 were Wilfredo Placencia, Jr. of Dumaguete who was adjudged first runner up and Jeffrey Sanchez of Bacolod who was second runner up. Placencia will be the country's representative in Gentlemen Universe 2014 to be held in Chile early next year.
Hosted by Miss Earth Air 2012 Stephany Stefanowitz and radio personality Chico Garcia, the Mister International Philippines 2013 finals night was also graced by Mister Singapore 2012 Ron Teh, Mister International owner Alan Sim and reigning Mister International 2012 Ali Hammoud from Lebanon.
