Miley Cyrus and boyfriend of 3 years Liam Hemsworth were already engaged to be married. Liam Hemsworth, who played Gale Hawthorne in the hit movie The Hunger Games, proposed to Miley on May 31 with a 3.5-carat diamond ring from jeweller Neil Lane.
Miley Cyrus (19) and Liam Hemsworth (22) met while working on the movie adaptation of Nicholas Sparks novel, The Last Song in 2009 and thereby fell in love with each other. The two did split in 2010 before rekindling their relationship last year.
"I'm so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam," Miley Cyrus told People Magazine. She also shared the happiness via Twitter, thanking her fans for all the love and expressing how happy she was with all her dreams coming true.

Liam Hemsworth approached celebrity jeweller Neil Lane who told People that he wanted "something unusual" and "something really beautiful and romantic" for his soon-to-be bride. The ring was handcrafted in 18-karat gold with intricately carved diamond floral motifs in an art nouveau pattern. What made it extra special was the antique late 19th century center stone.
Miley Cyrus catapulted to international fame after starring in Disney's Hannah Montana while Liam (who is the younger brother of Chris Hemsworth) became a household name just after his role in The Hunger Games.
