Xyriel Manabat Pays Tribute to Moms this May 12 on Wansapanataym

In celebration of Mother’s Day, Kapamilya child wonder Xyriel Manabat pays tribute to all moms in the continuation of her “Wansapanataym” special this Saturday (May 12).


This week, Xyriel portrays the role of Maya, a disobedient child longing for the attention of her mother who solely raised her. Because of her bad behavior, a magical bird will punish her to become a human bird. Will Maya finally learn to appreciate her mother now that she is alone?

Together with Xyriel in the ‘Hungry Birds’ episode are Assunta de Rosi, Ana Capri, and Raquel Monteza. It is written by Ayi Tamayo and directed by Joj Saguin.

“Wansapanataym” is a part of ABS-CBN’s “Bida Best Kid” campaign launched recently that aims to empower children by encouraging them to become who they want to be and the best that they can be. It doesn’t only entertain and educate its young viewers with its values-oriented, child-friendly programs, but supports their dreams and aspirations as well.

Xyriel Manabat Stars in the Next 'Wansapanataym' Month-Long Special

After the successful month-long special of ultimate multimedia star Toni Gonzaga, award-winning Kapamilya child wonder Xyriel Manabat is going to take her turn in teaching kids and families different life lessons as she topbills four special episodes of “Wansapanataym” starting on April 14 (Saturday).


Xyriel defied the age stereotype and surprised TV viewers with her amazing portrayals on different hit series like “Agua Bendita,” “Momay,” “100 Days to Heaven” and “Ikaw ay Pag-ibig.” 

Aside from receiving positive and overwhelming comments from avid viewers and veteran co-stars, Xyriel also bagged different recognitions from different award-giving bodies such as Gawad Tanglaw Awards, FAMAS, PMPC Star Awards for Movies, MMFF, USTv Students’ Choice Awards, and Northwest Samar State University Students’ Choice Awards for Radio and Television.

10th Gawad Tanglaw 2012 Winners Revealed, ABS-CBN Won Top Honors

Gawad TANGLAW (Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw) give trophies to outstanding to outstanding movies, TV shows and radio programs in the 10th edition of its annual honor list. In celebration of its 1st decade as an award-giving body, it also names 11 artists dubbed as 'Pinaka Kapuri-puring Artista ng Dekada.'

The chosen stars are Cesar Montano, Coco Martin, Allen Dizon, Sid Lucero, Emilio Garcia, Vilma Santos, Nora Aunor, Gina Pareño, Ms. Anita Linda, Dr. Rustica Carpio, and Cherry Pie Picache.

In the film category, the satirical comedy, Ang Babae sa Septic Tank, has earned four accolades in 10th Gawad TANGLAW. This Eugene Domingo-starrer earned the following awards: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress and Best Screenplay. 

This group of academicians chose ABS-CBN as the TV Station of the Year. Coco Martin is honored for having the Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama Series for ABS-CBN's Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin. Meanwhile, child actress Xyriel Manabat was able to beat other senior stars for the category Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama Series. Xyriel won for mimicking an adult for the Kapamilya teleserye 100 Days to Heaven. 

In the television arts, ABS-CBN won 14 trophies while its sister station ANC earned three accolades, GMA-7 bagged five awards, while TV5 won two trophies. PTV4 was also honored with one award.

My Binondo Girl's discovery, Richard Yap or more popularly known as 'Papa Chen' is reported to be included in the cast of newest ABS-CBN series Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw topbilled by Kris Aquino, Anne Curtis, Robin Padilla and Xyriel Manabat.

Queen of All Media Kris Aquino shared more details about her upcoming television series, Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw, with Anne Curtis and Robin Padilla. Xyriel Manabat will also join the three in this action-packed family drama.

'A Mother's Story' Starring Pokwang

Pokwang ventures into a heavy drama movie in her first starring role via A Mothers Story, a family drama film about an illegal immigrant in the United States and her struggles as she achieves legal status. The film deals with what the OFWs go through in the United States. This is the first film produced by The Filipino Channel and distributed by ABS-CBN International and Star CinemaThe film had its premiere in Los Angeles, CA on November 6, 2011 and was shown in selected US cities. It is set to open in Philippine theaters on January 8, 2012.
