Gretchen Barretto Starts Taping for Own Teleserye after 'Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala' Guesting

Award-winning actress Gretchen Barretto was a personal choice of Pinoy Soap Opera Queen Judy Ann Santos to play the new character in ABS-CBN’s top-rating primetime drama series “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.”

“It really felt so good that I was personally handpicked by Judy Ann,” said Gretchen, who accepted the role of Attorney Eva Custodio despite the fact that she will soon start taping for her own upcoming teleserye. “It’s really a dream to work with Juday that’s why I did not let the chance pass by. We all know that in her generation, she’s really one of the best, if not the best.”

Gretchen added that through her special participation in “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,” she was able to realize how blessed she is right now. “Sometimes, I forget to be grateful, but I am truly thankful that I have a good career and I get to work with very talented people,” said Gretchen. “It’s flattering to still be very much in the business after so many years and to be a Kapamilya is such a blessing.”

When asked about her insight about the teleserye’s women empowerment advocacy, La Greta said that she totally supports the cause. “I encourage all women to go out, work, and empower themselves because with that, nobody can abuse them. You only get abused because you allow people to do it,” she expressed.

Meanwhile, “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala” recently revealed the fiercer Anessa (Judy Ann) after having been rescued by Dr. Maria Balaguer (Amalia Fuentes). Amalia Fuentes Joins Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala; Replaced by Pilar Pilapil in Muling Buksan Ang Puso

Veteran actress Amalia Fuentes will join the cast of Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala which has already aired its pilot week. The series is the comeback teleserye of soap opera queen Judy Ann Santos and also stars Sam Milby and KC Concepcion, among other big stars.

In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN's Mario Dumaual, Amalia Fuentes said that she was very happy of having given a second chance by the network "to experience what it is to work in a teleserye." It can be recalled that Amalia resigned in Muling Buksan Ang Puso, her supposed reunion project with fellow movie queen Susan Roces (read related story here).

"I am so happy. This is another beginning, another episode in my life, because I have never done a teleserye. People are now so teleserye-involved. I felt that it was time that I should experience this. So when ABS-CBN offered me the chance to do a teleserye, I right away grabbed it, because this is something that I must know from experience, not from the experience of other people," she said adding that she was instantly taken with the teleserye's advocacy—women empowerment.

In Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, Amalia Fuentes will play a pivotal role in the life of Anessa (played by Juday) in the latter part of the series. 

Meanwhile, Amalia Fuentes will be replaced by another veteran Pilar Pilapil in this year's biggest teleserye. Pilar has already appeared in several successful Kapamilya teleseryes including  internationally-acclaimed Lobo and the recently concluded Ina Kapatid Anak.

Muling Buksan Ang Puso boasts of an ensemble of huge actors including Dante Rivero, Cherie Gil, Agot Isidro, Dominic Ochoa, Daniel Fernando, and Ms. Susan Roces and featuring this generation's hottest actors, Julia Montes, Enchong Dee and Enrique Gil.

Muling Buksan Ang Puso is expected to air this July 2013.

Amalia Fuentes Resigns From 'Muling Buksan Ang Puso'

Veteran actress Amalia Fuentes will no longer be part of the upcoming ABS-CBN primetime series Muling Buksan Ang Puso, an official statement from ABS-CBN said.

In an official statement released Monday afternoon, it was noted that Amalia Fuentes resigned from the upcoming primetime series which is supposed to be her reunion project with Susan Roces.

"Ms. Amalia Fuentes has resigned as actress for the upcoming teleserye, Muling Buksan ang Puso, due to creative differences with the production team and the challenges and demands of regular taping schedules," ABS-CBN head for corporate communications Bong Osorio said.

According to reports, Amalia Fuentes decided to quit the show after completing her first taping day, which became very difficult for the 72-year-old actress and her resignation cited long hours of work which might not be healthy for her.

Taping for a teleserye, as we all know, is very demanding, especially with time. A regular taping day can take as long as 24 hours. Amalia Fuentes might not be used to that very long hours of taping, which is quite different from shooting a movie then.

According to Bong Osorio, ABS-CBN management has already accepted Amalia Fuentes’ resignation and that her replacement will be announced soon.

Muling Buksan Ang Puso could have revived the rivalry between the two major actresses, which are considered movie queens of the '60s. In the said teleserye, the two will be competing for the love of one man to be played by Dante Rivero. 

Tagged as this year's most ambitious and biggest teleserye, Muling Buksan Ang Puso is directed by Nuel Crisostomo Naval and Manny Palo, featuring an ensemble of actors including Julia Montes, Enrique Gil, Enchong Dee, Dante Rivero, Agot Isidro, Dominic Ochoa, Daniel Fernando, Malou Crisologo, Pooh, and Ms. Cheri Gil.

'Muling Buksan Ang Puso' Trailer Released

The recent ABS-CBN trade launch on Tuesday unveiled the Kapamilya network's upcoming programs and perhaps the biggest of these shows is Muling Buksan Ang Puso topbilled by Julia Montes, Enrique Gil and Enchong Dee.

From the makers of phenomenal hit Walang Hanggan, the said teleserye also spans generations of actors. Featuring Ms. Susan Roces and Ms. Amalia Fuentes, as well as Dante Rivero, Dominic Ochoa, Daniel Fernando, Jane Oineza,  Matt Evans, Malou Crisologo, Pooh and Ms. Cherie Gil, Muling Buksan Ang Puso is set to be another big hit on TV.

Susan Roces-Amalia Fuentes Rivalry Returns in ABS-CBN's 'Muling Buksan Ang Puso'

Movie queens of the ‘60s Susan Roces and Amalia Fuentes are set to bring back their rivalry as they star in ABS-CBN’s upcoming Primetime Bida drama series “Muling Buksan Ang Puso” alongside Julia Montes and Enrique Gil. 

TV viewers are now thrilled to witness the acting showdown between the veteran actresses in the newest primetime teleserye after their last movie together titled “Cover Girls” in 1968. 

Unlike their real-life friendship, Amalia said that she will play the role of the antagonist in Susan’s life in the drama series because of their rivalry for the character that will be played by Dante Rivero. 

“Muling Buksan Ang Puso” will be directed by Manny Palo and Nuel Crisostomo Naval. Don’t miss the come-back project of Susan and Amalia, “Muling Buksan Ang Puso” in ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida.

Amalia Fuentes Sued Annabelle Rama and Bianca Gonzalez of Libel

Former actress Amalia Fuentes filed 11 counts of libel against talent manager Annabelle Rama and TV host-columnist Bianca Gonzalez on Wednesday, June 13 at the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.

Amalia Fuentes sued Annabelle Rama out of the latter's consecutive posts on the microblogging site Twitter and interviews which allegedly attacking her reputation and public image.

“I tried to fix this before kaya ko tinatawagan si Eddie para maayos namin ito. But what I got was more insults from her on Twitter,” the veteran actress said.

She also sued Bianca Gonzalez of the same charge for publishing an article in her Philippine Star column last February 12 to which Amalia said was demeaning and what sparked the war between her and Annabelle. Bianca wrote in her article entitled  "Love, Laughter & Intrigues with Eddie & Annabelle" Annabelle Rama's claim that Amalia once had a romantic relationship with Eddie Gutierrez, Annabelle's husband.

“Bianca is part of this because she is responsible for publishing an article. Never niya ako tinawagan,” she said.

Amalia gave unsolicited advice to Bianca:

“Bianca, I don’t know you personally but hija, take a seminar, take some lessons on what to write if you are planning to write more columns para hindi ka na masama sa libel case. I hope this will be your last, hija.”

Meanwhile, Bianca Gonzalez has yet to comment on the issue.

Prior to this, Amalia also sued Ruffa Gutierrez, Annabelle’s daughter, last May 7. The libel charges also stemmed from messages posted by Ruffa on Twitter and what she said on TV.
