Sunday All Stars: Same Artists, Different Format, One Sunday Entertainment

The Kapuso network will air soon the replacement of Party Pilipinas, the defunct Sunday musical variety show of GMA-7. Titled Sunday All Stars, the show promised an all-out fun Sunday afternoon for the whole family.

According to reports and press releases, Sunday All Stars will infuse a new level of noontime TV experience with music and games. Every week, there will also be a showdown of 4 celebrity teams headed by Christian Bautista, Mark Bautista, Jolina Magdangal and Jennylyn Mercado.

SOP and Party Pilipinas mainstays Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Jaya and Janno Gibbs will also be part of Sunday All Stars together with younger generations of Kapuso stars including Heart Evangelista, Lovi Poe, Carla Abellana, Rachelle Ann Go, Julie Anne San Jose, Elmo Magalona, Alden Richards, Glaiza de Castro and a lot more.

In previous reports after Party Pilipinas was axed, it was revealed that 50% of the defunct's show cast members will be part of its replacement and it's not surprising to see the ones above in the new show. After all, they were the stars referred to in the title Sunday All Stars.

Directed by Rommel Gacho, Sunday All Stars "will definitely bring fun and excitement every Sunday afternoon through its world-class performers, ground-breaking concepts, and inventive production numbers this June," said a press release.

On its Facebook page, it was indicated that Sunday All Stars will go head-to-head with longest-running Sunday musical variety show ASAP 18 starting June 16. Can the tested formula of celebrity competitions with loud numbers and extravagant production value save GMA-7's Sunday noontime?

Christian Bautista Transfers to GMA-7, Now A Certified Kapuso

Multi-platinum recording artist and “Asia’s Pop Idol” Christian Bautista finally decided to be a Kapuso and signed an exclusive contract with GMA Network Inc.

Present in the contract signing were GMA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Felipe L. Gozon, GMA President and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr., OIC for Entertainment Lilybeth G. Rasonable, and Christian’s manager Carlo Orosa.

Being welcomed by the GMA executives, Christian feels very privileged and excited about this new chapter in his life, “It’s wonderful! Bagong taon, bagong makakatrabaho at bagong bahay. I feel very welcomed and very honoured na nandito na ako ngayon. With all the projects I’m doing, it’s gonna be fun!”

Carlo is looking forward towards a bright future for Christian in GMA. “We feel the warmth and sincerity of their welcome,” he adds.

When Christian was asked about his first live performance on Party Pilipinas, he shares “I’m excited! I’m ready and yung production number ko is very personalized para sa ating mga Kapuso.”

Christian will be part of GMA’s biggest party celebration in the country, Party Pilipinas. He will be welcomed in the show this Sunday.

Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo returned on the ASAP stage for the 18 years anniversary celebration of ABS-CBN's longest-running musical variety show. Sarah led the champions number as the show paid tribute to the best in entertainment.

Sarah sang "Pangarap Na Bituin" with her fellow Champions Erik Santos, Sheryn Regis, Christian Bautista and Jed Madela. She also performed "Isang Lahi" with Yeng Constantino, Bugoy Drilon, Liezel Garcia and Laarni Lozada. The popstar, along with Angeline Quinto, Jovit Baldivino, Marcelito Pomoy and KZ Tandingan also, gave a powerful rendition of "Ngayon At Kailanman."

25th Aliw Awards 2012 Nominees Revealed

The 25th Aliw Awards 2012 nominees have been released. The Aliw Awards, which is now on its 25th year, honors singers, musicians, stand-up comedians, theater artists and other live performers. The awards night will be held on November 26 at the Manila Hotel.

ASAP 2012 regulars Jed Madela, Christian Bautista and Erik Santos are all nominated for Best Major Concert (Male), along with Callalily vocalist Kean Cipriano. For Best Major Concert (Female), the competition will be among Aiza Seguerra, Sarah Geronimo and Anne Curtis for their respective Araneta Coliseum concerts.

Christian Bautista and Karylle Topbill 'Rama, Hari' this November

Rama, Hari, the hit pop ballet musical based on the Indian epic Ramayana, is returning to CCP stage this November, with a powerhouse cast of the country’s best singers and dancers.

This year’s staging of “Rama, Hari” will star two of ABS-CBN’s most talented stars, Christian Bautista and Karylle in the lead roles of Rama and Sita, backed by an equally powerhouse cast of the country’s leading theater actors and singers: Robert Seña as the demon Ravana, OJ Mariano (alternating as Rama), Kalila Aguilos (alternating as Sita), Cristian Rey Marbella, Noel Rayos, Lani Ligot, Amparo Sietereales and Brezhnev Larlar. ABS-CBN is the official media partner of “Rama, Hari.”

Ballet Philippines’ principal dancers Jean Marc Cordero and Richardson Yadao will essay the role of Rama and Carissa Adea and Katherine Trofeo as Sita.

“Rama, Hari” is Ballet Philippines’ third production this year, following the staging of “Songs” and “Neo-Filipino: Anting”

Ballet Philippines’ Artistic Director Paul Alexander Morales says that what makes “Rama, Hari,” special, then and now, is the great collaboration work done by the best Filipino artists on the production, including two national artists.

Choreographed by Ballet Philippines’ founder Alice Reyes, the ballet musical was set to music of maestro Ryan Cayabyab, while National Artist for Literature Bienvenido Lumbrera wrote the libretto and National Artist for Theater Design Salvador Bernal did the set and costume design.

The lyrics of “Rama, Hari” are in Filipino, but there will be English subtitles during the performance, translated by National Artist Rolando Tinio.

Ballet Philippines first staged “Rama, Hari” in 1980 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines with Basil Valdez and Kuh Ledesma as the voice behind Rama and Sita, respectively. Leo Valdez portrayed the role of the evil demon Ravana.

Christian Bautista X Plus: The 10th Anniversary Album

Ten years has passed since Christian Bautista was introduced to showbiz, but he remains to be one of the most sought-after balladeer of his generation here and abroad.

Universal Records joins Christian as he celebrates his first decade with the release of X Plus, a collection of songs which celebrate his 10th year.

X Plus includes Christian’s rendition of three of the biggest theme songs from top rating teleserye – Gaano Kadalas Ang Minsan (from Walang Hanggan), Nag-iisang Bituin (from Princess and I), and Nag-iisang Ikaw (from Precious Hearts Romances presents Pintada).

X Plus also gives a glimpse of what’s next for the balladeer by the inclusion of the remix version of Unphotographable, used during the Philippine Fashion Week. The sweeping ballad What Can I Do is also part of the compilation.

Christian was recently awarded with the Male Pop Recording Artist of the Year by the Star Awards for Music for his album Outbound, adjudged Pop Album of the Year (see complete list of winners here).

The album also includes his version of the hit Love Moves In Mysterious Ways, Beautiful Girl and new recordings of previous hits The Way You Look At Me and Hands To Heaven (featuring Zia Quizon).

Popstar Sarah Geronimo pays a heartwarming tribute to the one and only King of Comedy Dolphy this Sunday (July 15) in her solo musical variety show “Sarah G. Live!”

Aside the tribute for the Comedy King, watch out for the hair-raising vocal act as Sarah shares the concert stage with Christian Bautista, Yeng Constantino, Jimmy Marquez, and Erik Santos; followed by the smash up dance number of the “Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 4” Big 4 Myrtle, Karen, Roy and the twins Joj at Jai.

3rd Tambayan OPM Awards (TOPMA) 2012 Winners

The 3rd Tambayan OPM Awards (TOPMA) 2012 was held last June 30 at the SM City North EDSA Skydome  to honor and highlight outstanding Filipino artists and song writers in the local music industry this past year.

Top OPM artists in the country graced the said event together with the DJ's of ABS-CBN FM radio station Tambayan 101.9 in paying tribute to original Pinoy music.

Christian Bautista 'Sasabihin' Music Video (Featuring Neocolours)

Universal Records released the music video for Christian Bautista's latest single Sasabihin featuring the famed band Neocolours. Sasabihin is part of Christian's new album,  "First Class: Outbound Expanded Edition" which recently turned platinum.

Christian Bautista's First Class: Outbound Expanded Edition" album which has a limired edition coffee table book marks his 10th anniversary in showbiz (read more about the album and the list of tracks here).

Sasabihin music video is directed by Carlo Alvarez and produced by Markki Stroem.

Kapamilya Stars Dominate Yahoo OMG! Awards 2012 Preliminary Results

Kapamilya stars dominated the preliminary results of the Yahoo Philippines OMG! Awards 2012. The voting for the OMG Awards ended yesterday, June 28 and the official list of winners will be announced  during the grand Yahoo! Philippines OMG! awards night on July 6, Friday, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. 

KimXi tandem Kim Chiu and Xian Lim led the 'Love Team of the Year' and also the 'Breakthrough Actor and Actress' awards. Coco Martin is leading the 'Actor of the Year' poll while Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis battle neck-to-neck for the 'Actress of the Year' award.

Kathryn Bernardo topped the 'Breakthrough Actress' poll while fellow Princess and I co-star Enrique Gil is battling with Walang Hanggan's Paulo Avelino for the 'Breakthrough Actor of the Year' award.

Meanwhile, Sarah Geronimo and Christian Bautista are just waiting for the official announcement to be hailed as 'Female' and 'Male Singer of the Year', respectively.

ABS-CBN Airs Christian Bautista's 10th Anniversary TV Special this July 8

Asian Pop Superstar Christian Bautista celebrates his 10th anniversary in showbiz with a grand ‘tell-all’ musical night titled “The Way You Look at Me: The Christian Bautista 10th Anniversary Special” this July 8 (Sunday), in ABS-CBN’s “Sunday’s Best.”

After a decade of victories and surprises, Christian shares the stage with some of the biggest names in the industry who are closest to his heart. He will have a special musical reunion with ex-girlfriend Rachelle Ann Go through a romantic duet; followed by a remarkable performance with the Filipino music legend Jose Mari Chan; and an Asian Pinoy pride treat from the cast of “The Kitchen Musical.” Also joining Christian in the celebration are Kapamilya stars Iza Calzado, Sam Milby, Jovit Baldivino, Marcelito Pomoy, Bugoy Drilon, Khalil Ramos, and Angeline Quinto.
