Topbilled by Korea’s “Queen of Tears,” Soo Ae, and one of the most versatile Korean leading men today, Kim Rae Won, “A Promise of a Thousand Days” was written by famed drama writer Kim Soo-Hyun. Both Soo Ae and Rae Won also received Top Excellence and Top 10 Star Awards for their portrayals in the said melodrama in the 2011 SBS Drama Awards.
Nico Park (Rae Won)is bound to marry a rich woman just to please his parents. But Nico’s heart truly belongs to his childhood sweetheart, Aaliyah (Soo Ae), who agreed to secretly be with him until his wedding day.
Despite playing with fire, the two are happy in each other’s arms until one day, Aaliyah starts forgetting things and experiences severe headaches. It turns out that she is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, an incurable type of dementia associated with gradual memory loss.
Now, Aaliyah is pressed for time to live her life to the fullest while she can still remember the things she value and the people whom she loves. Nico, on the other hand, is torn between fulfilling his mother’s wish and staying beside his one true love who will soon remember nothing, including him.
