ABS-CBN Scores 7-0 versus GMA-7 in 2013 Anvil Awards

ABS-CBN Corporation won a total of seven Anvil Awards, considered as the Oscars of the public relations industry in the country, and making it as the most-awarded TV network in this year’s race for its outstanding PR programs and tools.

The Kapamilya network’s necrological services that paid tribute to an entertainment icon, campaigns for the silver anniversary celebrations of its flagship primetime TV newscast and an AM radio station, relief operations for typhoon victims, station ID that highlighted the uniqueness of Pinoy summer, and an internal campaign that engaged ABS-CBN employees through various services were awarded by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines.

“Salamat, Tito Dolphy,” ABS-CBN’s necrological service and tribute to the King of Philippine Comedy staged within 24 hours after Dolphy’s death won for efficiently harnessing the company’s people and resources and brought together Dolphy’s family, friends, colleagues, and even competing TV networks and media organizations. More than 6,000 fans attended the event that was carried out with no glitches.

ABS-CBN Regional Group’s online advocacy campaign “Choose Philippines” earned recognition for successfully engaging online users to share their local adventures and tourism discoveries in the country.  Since the site went live in April 2011, the website’s page views have reached more than 2.4 million total page views and continues to grow especially after the success of its promotional music video campaign “Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas,” sung by Angeline Quinto and Vincent Bueno.

ABS-CBN Foundation Inc.’s “Sagip Kapamilya” was cited for its “Sagip Kapamilya Ondoy Relief Operations,” which raised funds and provided relief and rehabilitation for the victims of typhoon Ondoy.

“TV Patrol” won an Anvil for its integrated multimedia campaign “TV Patrol: 25 Taon ng Pagbabalita” that celebrated ABS-CBN’s primetime newscast’s achievements in setting the news agenda, actively engaging in nation building, exposing irregularities and shortcomings of public offficials, and doing public service that helped the nation recover from man-made and natural disasters.

Similarly, the leading AM radio station DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 won for its year-long 25th anniversary celebration “DZMM SilveRadyo” that culminated with a concert at the Araneta Coliseum and reinforced how it has remained true to its slogan “una sa balita, una sa public service” for more than two decades.

ABS-CBN’s 2012 summer station ID “Pinoy Summer Da Best Forever,” created by ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management, won for painting a picture of how Filipinos are proud of their heritage and values as reflected in the various festivals of the country.

Lastly, ABS-CBN Internal Communications, under the Corporate Communications Division, won an award for engaging the employees through various communication tools and activities that strengthened their affinity as Kapamilya and making them the company’s best brand ambassadors.

ABS-CBN won a total of seven Anvil awards vs TV5’s three and GMA with none.

The Anvil Awards is an annual event organized by the PRSP that honors outstanding public relations programs and tools. Prior to the Anvil Awards, ABS-CBN earned eight recognitions for its PR programs from the Philippine Quill Awards given by the International Association of Business Communicators. ABS-CBN was the most-awarded TV network in both Anvil and Quill Awards that honor the best works in public relations and business communications.

The highly-anticipated grand concert tribute “Dolphy Alay Tawa: A Musical Tribute to the King of Comedy” is all set to spread love, joy and laughter this Wednesday (September 19) as some of the biggest names in the Philippine showbiz industry join forces to celebrate the life of the late Comedy King Dolphy.

Led by his beloved children and partner ZsaZsa Padilla, also joining the historical tribute concert for the Comedy King are some of the biggest Kapamilya stars such as Judy Ann Santos, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Ai Ai delas Alas, Toni Gonzaga, Shaina Magdayao, Angeline Quinto, Luis Manzano, John Prats, Iya Villania, Smokey Manaloto, Jhong Hilario, Melai Cantiveros, and Neil Coleta.

Dolphy Alay Tawa Tribute Concert Happens September 19, Unites ABS-CBN, GMA-7 and TV-5

Dolphy Aid Para Sa Pinoy Foundation, Inc. presents Dolphy Alay Tawa, a musical tribute to the King of Comedy slated on September 19, 7pm at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Local A-list celebrities are gathering in this special concert to commemorate the colorful life of the Comedy King, Dolphy.

With its themes and narratives taken from the book “Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-Isa”, authored by Bibeth Orteza who is also the show’s scriptwriter, the concert promises to entertain the audience and remember Dolphy as the entertainer, uphold the mission of The Dolphy Aid Para Sa Pinoy Foundation, Inc, which in cooperation with SM Mall of Asia Arena, Bench, and PLDT is organizing the event with the noble purpose of sharing part of the concert proceeds to various noteworthy causes.

“We wanted to honor our father and celebrate his life so it was only natural to give back freely. Secondly, we wanted to thank all those who prayed for him and joined us in our grief by emulating his big-heartedness by sharing the donations we will receive from this tribute with philanthropic efforts”, shared the Quizon clan’s acknowledged spokesperson actor-director Eric Quizon.

Proceeds from the tribute will go to the Philippine Red Cross, specifically for disaster preparedness and its blood bank, Friends of Hope, Inc., to sponsor the building of a classroom at  Emilio Jacinto Elementary School  in Velasquez, Tondo, and Eye Bank Foundation of the Philippines, particularly on its education on eye care and corneal transplants.

A minimum donation of P150 is equivalent to one ticket at the General Admission, P250 for Upper Box and P450 for Lower Box. Tickets are available at SM Tickets; for more information, call 470222.

Dolphy's MMK Episode Rules Weekend TV Ratings

The re-run of Dolphy’s ‘Bisekleta’ episode in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” was the most-watched TV program nationwide last weekend. Based on Kantar Media’s data last Saturday (July 14), Comedy King’s last “MMK” episode garnered 40% national TV ratings. In the story, Dolphy portrayed the role of a father who struggled to make his family whole again after spending 40 years of his life in prison.

Meanwhile, “MMK” features another heartwarming tale this Saturday (July 21) with the life story of Miss Universe 2010 4th runner-up Venus Raj. “MMK” is Venus’ first acting stint. Discover the trials that Venus had to go through before she joined Miss Universe and how she managed to handle the public’s criticism on her physical appearance. How did she handle her newfound found after her ‘major-major’ achievement?

Together with Venus in the “MMK” episode are Malou de Guzman, Gio Alvarez, Amy Nobleza, Perla Bautista, Simon Ibarra, and Marielle Pamintuan. The episode was written by Maan Dimaculangan-Fampulme and directed by Nuel Crisostomo Naval.

Cha-Cha of Goin' Bulilit Launches Debut Album 'Bulilit Rockstar'

The Goin’ Bulilit (GB) kids aren’t only cute and good in comedy. Cha-Cha Cañete from the famous “Mutya-Cha” proves this by launching her first ever album entitled “Bulilit Rockstar” this July 22 (Sunday) at the Robinson’s Place Manila.

The album consists of nine original tracks plus 10 bonus tracks. Even before its official launch, it has received positive responses due to its high number of sales in Astroplus and Astrovision in the past four weeks.

Dolphy Movie Marathon on Cinema One this July

Amarathon of the films of the late Dolphy will be aired on Cinema One to salute the Comedy King’s stint in show business.

The “Kool Pinoy Cinema” block which airs every 7:00 a.m. features “John and Marsha” on July 17, “Anthony and Cleopatra” on June 18, “War Kami ng Misis Ko” on July 19 and “Dolphy’s Angel” on July 20. 

The “Laughternoon Out Loud” block which airs every 1:00 p.m. features “Jack & Jill of the Third Kind” on July 17, “Nang Maghalo Ang Balat Sa Tinalupan” on July 18, “Captain Barbell” on July 19 and “The Godfather” on July 20. 

Dolphy’s latest movies will also be aired every 5:00 p.m., “Father Jejemon” on July 23, “Home Alone da Riber” on July 24, “Nobody, Nobody But Juan” on July 25, “Tataynic” on July 26 and “Dobol Trobol” on July 27.

"Salamat Tito Dolphy," ABS-CBN's Grand Tribute to PH King of Comedy

ABS-CBN Corporation, led by its chairman and chief executive officer, Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III paid tribute to a ‘Kapamilya’ for more than 40 years, the late King of Comedy Dolphy via necrological services themed “Salamat, Tito Dolphy: Pagsaludo sa Hari ng Komedya,” held last Wednesday, at the Dolphy Theater of ABS-CBN.

“He is an inspiration to all of us in the broadcast industry with his humility, his talent, and above all, his ability to constantly reinvent himself to live and fight another day. Dolphy will always live in the heart and soul of ABS-CBN. To all of us here at ABS-CBN, you wil always be Kapamilya,” said Lopez. Together with channel head Cory Vidanes and other ABS-CBN executives, he welcomed Dolphy’s remains and his family at the network’s compound.

ABS-CBN president and chief operating officer Charo Santos-ConcioSantos, who worked with Dolphy initially as a production assistant and later as a leading lady in a movieremembered Dolphy for his utmost modesty who never changed despite his stature in life.

“Tulad ng lahat, tinitingala ko si Dolphy bilang isang Hari ng Komedya. Pero ang haring nakita ko ay isang haring nakatuntong sa lupa,” she shared. “Ang paghanga ko sa isang ‘idol,’ ay naging pagkamangha ko sa isang totoong tao.”

Dolphy’s relationship with ABS-CBN spanned four decades. ABS-CBN renamed its studio 1 to Dolphy Theater in 2008 in honor of Dolphy during his 80th birthday in 2008 for his loyalty to the network and his legendary contribution to the Philippine entertainment industry.

In her eulogy, Dolphy’s long-time partner ZsaZsa Padilla expressed gratitude to ABS-CBN, which had been his second ‘home.’ She said, “Salamat sa ABS-CBN na sumugal kay Dolphy nooong 1992, para makabalik siya sa pinakamamahal niyang telebisyon. Maraming salamat, ABS-CBN, for taking care of his legacy, preserving his body of works for generations of Filipinos to enjoy in perpetuity.”

“I know that this service will make Dolphy so happy dahil mula pa sa panahon ni Kapitan Geny Lopez, si Dolphy sa buhay, kamatayan at sa langit ay isang tunay na Kapamilya,” added ZsaZsa who ended her speech by singing their theme song,“Through the Years” that moved everyone to tears.

In addition, Dolphy’s son Eric Quizon, imparted how his father wanted to be ‘home.’ “My dad kept on saying, ‘uwi na ako.’ That was the phrase that he kept on saying to all of us. his wish was granted. Today, we brought him home to Marina, and then we brought him here, to his family, his Kapamilya; and then now, he’s home with His Creator,” shared Eric.

Among those who delivered their touching tributes in the eulogy program were Nova Villa, Dolphy’s on-screen partner for 15 years on Kapamilya TV sitcom “Home Along Da Riles;” Victor de Guzman, former director of “Home Along Da Riles” and son of veteran comedian Teroy de Guzman; and film producer Marichu Vera-Perez of Sampaguita Pictures.

“He was our biggest yet humble star (in Sampaguita Pictures); he will always be the Filipino people’s artist,” Vera-Perez said.

Aside from ABS-CBN talents, those celebrities who also attended the necrological service in Dolphy Theater were Sen. Loren Legarda, Mayor Alfredo Lim, MTRCB chairperson Grace Poe-Llamanzares, Gloria Diaz, Boots Anson-Roa, Celso Ad Castillo, Bella Flores, brothers Randy and Rowell Santiago, Noel Trinidad, Edgar Mortiz, Matutina, and Maricel Soriano, who played Dolphy’s daughter in the long-running sitcom “John En Marsha.”

After the necrological services and eulogy, Dolphy Theater welcomed almost 6,000 fans who trooped outside the vicinity of ABS-CBN and patiently waited for hours for the first public viewing of Dolphy’s remains. Fans were given free snack and drinks after the viewing.

Dolphy’s homecoming in ABS-CBN did not only serve as a reunion among comedy king’s families and friends, but also brought together competing TV networks following ABS-CBN’s decision to allow other TV news organizations to cover the necrological services and provided video of the arrival honors and public viewing inside the Dolphy Theatre.

“Salamat, Tito Dolphy: Pagsaludo sa Hari ng Komedya,” was aired on Studio 23, ANC, DZMM TeleRadyo, and livestreamed via abs-cbnnews.com.

ASAP 2012 Pays Tribute to Dolphy this July 15

ASAP 2012 is all set to pay tribute this Sunday (July 15) to the one and only King of Comedy, Dolphy with special production numbers to be led by mainstays Gary Valenciano, Toni Gonzaga, Arnel Pineda, KC Concepcion, Jericho Rosales, Sam Milby, Christian Bautista, Erik Santos, Nikki Gil, Kean Cipriano, and ASAP Sessionistas.

Aside from the tribute for the Comedy King, “ASAP 2012” will also give a grand welcome to the casts of Kapamilya Gold’s newest afternoon offerings as JM de Guzman, Kaye Abad, Charee Pineda, and John Prats of “Angelito: Ang Bagong Yugto” and Denise Laurel and Martin del Rosario of “Precious Hearts Romances presents Pintada” grace the ASAP centerstage.

Fall in love and sing with the back-to-back birthday bash of Kapamilya leading man Xian Lim with his love team partner Kim Chiu, and the World Champion Jed Madela with The Company; followed by the world-class surprise of Japanese martial-arts and ‘drum playing extraordinaire’ Drum Tao. ABS-CBN Re-Airs Dolphy's MMK Episode this July 14

ABS-CBN pays tribute to the one and only King of Comedy, Dolphy through “Maalaala Mo Kaya” as it will re-air this Saturday (July 14) the heartwarming heavy family drama episode topbilled the late showbiz legend.

In the story, Dolphy gave life to the character of Abel, a father who was imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. After spending 40 years in jail, Abel spent his freedom trying to reunite his family.

Together with Dolphy in the “MMK” episode were Epi Quizon, Marita Zobel, Roxanne Guinoo, Eric Fructuso, John Arcilla, Nash Aguas, and Makisig Morales. It was written by Ruel Montañez and Arah Jell Badayos, and directed by Jeffrey Jeturian. 

Celebrate Dolphy’s life and remember his greatness as an actor through his heavy family drama episode in the longest running drama anthology in Asia, “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (MMK), this Saturday night, after “Wansapanataym” on ABS-CBN.

Videos: ABS-CBN Pays Tribute to Comedy King Dolphy

ABS-CBN pays tribute to the King of Comedy Dolphy who was considered as one of the network's institution. Dolphy spent four decades of his showbiz career on ABS-CBN.

Dolphy (1928-2012)

Last July 10, Dolphy passed away due to multiple organ failure, secondary to complications brought about by severe pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and acute renal failure. He was confined at the Makati Medical Center for weeks and had wished to go home,  which was granted three times.

His remains was brought to his house in Parañaque then was transferred to ABS-CBN Dolphy Theater yesterday. His remains now lie at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig where it will stay until his interment on July 15 (Sunday).

Ultimately, Dolphy is now home with the Lord.
