31st Luna Awards 2013 Winners | Angel Locsin Wins Best Actress, The Mistress Big Winner

The 31st Luna Awards (2013) happened June 1 and the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) has given 12 Luna trophies to outstanding films and people behind the successful movies of the year.

Star Cinema's The Mistress was big winner of the night, clinching half of the trophies given away. It won Best Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Actor for John Lloyd Cruz, Best Supporting Actor for Ronaldo Valdez and Best Supporting Actress for Hilda Koronel. 

Angel Locsin won Best Actress, her fourth Best Actress trophy for her performance in One More Try. Meanwhile, the last five awards were brought home by El Presidente, including the most coveted Best Picture award.

61st FAMAS Awards 2013 Winners: Angel Locsin is Best Actress

Angel Locsin won the Best Actress trophy at the 61st FAMAS Awards (2013) held on April 21 at the AFP Theater. The Kapamilya actress was recognized for her performance in the MMFF 2012 Best Picture One More Try from which also gave her the Star Awards for Movies Best Actress trophy.

Meanwhile, FAMAS Best Actor award went to ER Ejercito for the movie El Presidente which was the big winner of the night bagging 12 awards including Best Picture, Best Director for Mark Meily, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for Cesar Montano.

29th PMPC Star Awards for Movies 2013 Winners

The 29th PMPC Star Awards for movies awarding ceremonies happened March 10, 2013 at the AFP Theater in Quezon City. The awards night was hosted by Iza Calzado, Kim Chiu and Piolo Pascual.

Angel Locsin won Best Actress for her performance in the MMFF 2012 Best Picture One More Try, scoring a back to back Best Actress win at the PMPC Star Awards for Movies. Last year, she was also hailed as Best Actress for the movie In the Name of Love

Meanwhile, El Presidente was the big winner of the night, clinching several awards including Movie of the Year, Best Director for Mark Meily and Best Actor for ER Ejercito.

In the indie movie category, Alagwa was a runaway winner with a grab on the Movie of the Year, Best Child Actor for Bugoy Cariño and Best Screenwriter and Best Director for Ian Loreños.

The PMPC Star Awards honors the best Filipino movies of 2012 and is composed of mainstream and independent film categories. The awards night will be aired on March 17 at 10:45 pm on ABS-CBN Sunday's Best.

MMFF 2012 Final Gross and Box Office Results: Sisterakas is Highest Grossing Film of All Time

Star Cinema and Viva Films' Sisterakas topbilled by Queen of All Media Kris Aquino, Comedy Queen Ai Ai Delas Alas and Phenomenal Box Office Star Vice Ganda was hailed as the highest grossing MMFF movie, as well as the top grossing Filipino film of all time.


In its official Twitter account, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), which is in charge of the MMFF, reported a P342 million gross for Sisterakas during the film fest's 14-day run, which sealed its place as the highest grossing local film in history surpassing the box office success of  Vice Ganda's The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin.

Meanwhile, MMFF 2012 Best Picture One More Try overtook erstwhile second-placer Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote at Si Ako after 2 weeks with P170.5 million gross compared to the latter's official festival-long gross of  P133.5 million. Shake, Rattle, and Roll 14 was a distant fourth, earning a total of P45.3 million.

Just like their previous releases, MMDA did not reveal the official figures for the four films The Strangers, El Presidente, Sosy Problems and Thy Womb. However, the committee declared a record-breaking MMFF gross this year with  P767.8 million total gross for the eight entries or 21% higher compared to the 2011 record of P636.7 million.

MMFF 2012: 8th Day Gross and Official Box Office Results (Dec 25-Jan 1)

Metro Manila Film Festival Day 8 – According to the latest box office results released by the festival committee, the MMFF 2012 total gross as of January 1, 2013 amounted to Php 512.9 million, a 5% increase from last year's MMFF box office tally for the same period.

Star Cinema and Viva Films' Sisterakas is the festival's top grosser for the period (since day 1) with P231.9 million gross after 8 days. Contrary to previous reports with unofficial box office tally, Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote at Si AKO is still the second top grosser, beating Star Cinema's One More Try by about P13.2 million.

In 4th place is the horror movie Shake Rattle & Roll 14 but with a gross far from the top 3 entries. Just like their earlier official releases, the festival's committee did not provide box office data for movies other than the top 4 but are ranked according to their box office performance as follows: The Strangers, El Presidente, Sosy Problems, and Thy Womb.
