Posted on February 11, 2014 | 4:37 PM

After more than a year on ABS-CBN Prime Tanghali, hit game show Minute to Win It will finally bid goodbye. The game show hosted by Luis Manzano will air its final episode on February 21.

Angel Locsin is guest player on Minute to Win It finale episode

Minute to Win It premiered on January 14, 2013. The game show has contestants taking part in a series of 60-second challenges using objects commonly available around the house and the Philippine franchise particularly had aired four formats including the original, junior, head to head challenge and family and team challenge.

According to the show's producer Rose Casala, Minute to Win It is supposed to air for only 11 weeks. However, it has been extended for more than a year. She's also hoping that the show will return after its hiatus.

On Twitter, host Luis Manzano posted a message of gratitude to all the fans which made the show a success.

"Today is the last taping day of #Minute2winitPH! :) wow, more than a year and the most successful franchise of the show! :) thank you guys!" Luis said.

For its last two episodes which will air on February 20 and 21, Angel Locsin will be the guest player. The actress recently admitted that she and Luis are setting things straight and are now exclusively dating.

Before the show goes off the air, the PHP 1,000,000 cash prize has been won for the first time by the chefs tandem of Tristan Encarnacion and Niño Logarta.

Minute to Win It will be replaced by the singing game show The Singing Bee hosted by Roderick Paulate and Amy Perez. Previously airing on Saturdays after It's Showtime, the show will now be a daily habit starting February 24.

Eric Fructuoso Defends Title Against OPM Icons in 'The Singing Bee' (Nov 23)

Posted on November 22, 2013 | 9:38 PM

OPM icons Andrew E, Randy Santiago, Jamie Rivera, Hajji Alejandro, and Jenine Desiderio will experience a different kind of sing-along this Saturday (Nov. 23) as they clash in the hit musical game show “The Singing Bee” to clinch the coveted P1 million jackpot prize.

Eric Fructuoso Defends Title Against OPM Icons in 'The Singing Bee' (Nov 23)

The pressure doubles up for this week’s contestants since they are well-known as artists and are considered veterans in the field of music. To loosen up things a bit, the OPM icons will give a “sample sample,” which not many people know was originally coined in the first season of “The Singing Bee.”

Who among them will make it through the “Final Countdown”? Can he beat the original gwaping and defending champion Eric Fructuoso? Will Eric, who already took home P40,000, be able to defend his title?

On its pilot episode last November 16, the new “The Singing Bee” instantly ruled on its timeslot by garnering a national TV rating of 12.9% vs GMA’s “Startalk” that only recorded 5.3%, according to Kantar Media.

The Singing Bee Returns on TV this November 16

Posted on November 13, 2013 | 5:50 PM

The well-loved hosting tandem of Roderick Paulate and Amy Perez is back and is set to bring total entertainment to every member of the family beginning Saturday (Nov 16) as the hit musical game show “The Singing Bee” returns to ABS-CBN.

Kuya Dick and Tiyang Amy for The Singing Bee
Weekend bonding time will surely become more fun as the whole family can sing and play along with the game, regardless if he can sing or not, as long as he can guess the correct lyrics of popular songs. On top of that, returning Kapamilya Dick and Amy will complete the viewing experience with their exchange of witty banters.

“This will ease your problems and stress. The show fits in with everyone because Filipinos are natural music lovers,” Amy said.

“Viewers will love ‘The Singing Bee’ because the show is synonymous to fun and every Filipino likes to have fun. They will probably love the sing-along, the dancing, and the guessing game,” Dick added.

In its pilot episode this Saturday, Carmi Martin, Boboy Garovillo, Ogie Diaz, Eric Fructuoso and Kiray Celis — Dick and Amy’s closest friends in the entertainment industry — will play and compete to win the P1 million jackpot prize.

“The Voice of the Philippines” artists Isa Fabregas, Jessica Reynoso, Penelope Matanguihan, Maki Ricafort, and Yuki Ito are also part of “The Singing Bee” as the show’s resident singers called  the “Songbees.” The “Bandble Bees,” led by veteran musical director Mel Villena, will also stage a comeback along with sexy dancers “Honeybees.”

“The Singing Bee” will be composed of four exciting rounds. Five individuals will compete in the elimination round called “To Bee Continued,” where each contestant has to sing the next line of the song initiated by the “Songbees.” The first four people who sing the line correctly will qualify for the next two rounds “Jumble Bee” and “Beedeoke.”

In “Jumble Bee” round, lyrics from a particular song will be shown scrambled on screen and each of the contestants have to sing it in correct order to earn two points.

The four remaining contestants will consecutively sing a song in a fill-in-the-blanks format in the “Beedeoke” round. Each player has three blanks to fill in, where each correct answer is equal to three points.

The contestant with the highest of total points from the second and third rounds will advance to the jackpot round dubbed as the “Final Countdown” to face the defending champion.

In the final round, the contestants must first determine who between them will go first through the toss-up called “Manuhan.” One of the hosts will give an artist name and the contestants must provide any song title recorded by the given artist. Whoever buzzes in first with the correct answer will get the first bid at the jackpot and the privilege to choose a category.

The first finalist must then guess four missing lyrics in seven songs to be played in the “Final Countdown.” Each correct answer corresponds to P20,000 cash. If ever he completes all four, the first finalist wins the P1 million grand prize. But in the event that the first finalist commits a mistake, the second finalist will have the chance to steal and play for the jackpot. Whoever wins in the “Final Coundown” will be hailed as the champion and will return to the next week’s episode to defend his title.

Don’t miss the much-awaited comeback of hit musical game show “The Singing Bee” this Saturday (Nov 16), after “It’s Showtime” on ABS-CBN. Kung Fu Divas Starring Ai Ai Delas Alas and Marian Rivera Opens October 2

Posted on September 23, 2013 | 6:49 PM

Two of the country’s “box-office divas” from rival TV networks—Kapamilya Comedy Queen AiAi delas Alas and Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera—will join forces in this year’s funniest epic comedy-adventure film titled “Kung Fu Divas,” which will hit cinemas nationwide on October 2 (Wednesday).

Kung Fu Divas Starring Ai Ai Delas Alas and Marian Rivera Opens October 2

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Star Cinema continues its two-decade tradition of sharing stories of pure laughter and entertainment to the Filipino audience by teaming up with co-producers Reality Entertainment and O & Co. Picture Factory to produce a world-class Onat Diaz masterpiece.

“Masayang-masaya kami ni Marian na part kami ng 20th anniversary celebration ng Star Cinema. Happy din ako dahil nakasama for the first time ang isa sa mga reyna ng GMA,” said AiAi. “Sa totoo lang, isa ito sa pinakamahirap na pelikulang ginawa ko–acting-wise and action-wise. Nag-training din kasi kami dito for martial arts kaya mahirap. Pero sa ganda ng movie, sulit ‘yung hirap. Fulfilled na fulfilled ako.”

Like AiAi, Marian takes pride in being part of “Kung Fu Divas.” In fact, she applauded upon learning about their milestone movie. “Happy ako na nagkakaroon ng ganitong pagkakaisa para sa isang pelikula at kabilang ako doon sa moment na ‘yun,” Marian expressed. “Napaka-memorable po nito sa akin dahil ang daming bago sa akin dito. Bukod sa unang pagsasama po namin ito ni Ate AiAi, first time ko rin pong nakatrabaho si Direk Onat, first time kong magkaroon ng comedy-action na pelikula, at syempre first movie ko po ito from Star Cinema.”

Aside from their newfound friendship, “Kung Fu Divas” was close to the heart of AiAi and Marian because of its top caliber concept and execution.

“Kung Fu Divas” is a story about two bitter rivals in “Hiyas ng Dalampasigan” beauty pageant namely Charlotte (AiAi) and Samantha (Marian), who will be forced to become allies after an unexpected turn of events that put the lives of many in danger.

Can you set aside rivalry and sacrifice your own life for ‘world peace?’

Joining AiAi and Marian in “Kung Fu Divas” are Roderick Paulate, Edward Mendez, Bianca Manalo, Precious Lara Quigaman, Nova Villa and Gloria Diaz.

Don’t miss the world-class special effects, lessons, and the new flavor of comedy from the fresh dynamic duo of AiAi and Marian in the epic comedy-adventure film “Kung Fu Divas” showing on cinemas all over the country on October 2, 2013.
