The ultimate love team of Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta will soon invade the big screen via a new romantic movie this 2013 as part of Star Cinema’s 20th anniversary year-long celebration.

Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta to star in a movie with John Lloyd Cruz and Jessy Mendiola for Star Cinema's 20th anniversary

Richard and Dawn signed a contract with Star Cinema recently after the success of their love team’s comeback in the hit teleserye “Walang Hanggan,” where they played the roles of Marco and Emily, respectively.

“I feel proud to be part of Star Cinema’s anniversary. It’s a great year and a great time to be with Star Cinema and Dawn. This project is going to be very exciting,” said Richard. For her part, Dawn said that she is quite nervous since it has been years since she and Richard have made a movie together.

The stars also revealed that John Lloyd Cruz and Jessy Mendiola will be part of the cast.

Both Dawn and Richard expressed their excitement to work with the younger stars. “The last time I worked with John Lloyd was during the sitcom ‘Palibhasa Lalake,’ so I am so excited to have a reunion with him,” said Richard. Dawn added that she really wants to have a project with movie box-office star John Lloyd and “Paraiso” leading lady Jessy.

Richard and Dawn’s movie, which is a combination of family drama and love story, is written by award-winning screenwriter Ricky Lee. The story will be about a husband and a wife who are trying to save their marriage and revive their lost love. Principal photography will begin in July.

Present at the contract signing were Star Creatives head Malou Santos, Richard’s manager Pia Campos and Dawn’s manager Vivian Recio.

Four Sisters and A Wedding Billing | Who Gets the Top Bill?

Posted on June 16, 2013 | 1:59 PM

Kicking off Star Cinema's 20th anniversary is star-studded Four Sisters and A Wedding starring four of the hottest actresses of today and one young heartthrob. Since the lead stars all do have big names, there was a question on who will get the top billing in posters and other promo materials.

We will notice that in the first official poster and trailer, the names of the lead stars were not mentioned. However, in the newly-released poster, the billing of the stars was finally revealed.

The billing went as "Bea Alonzo and Toni Gonzaga and Angel Locsin," with their names printed more prominently than Shaina Magdayao and Enchong Dee, whose names were written below.

Four Sisters and A Wedding Poster with billing

The actor whose name come first gets the top bill, as well as the name which follows the "and," an indication of the importance of that actor. In the case of Four Sisters and A Wedding, the top billing went to Bea Alonzo, Toni Gonzaga and Angel Locsin, artists who have proven successes in their films through a box office and acclaimed performance.

According to reports, while Shaina seemed to be the more veteran since she started as a child star and has done more movies under Star Cinema, she is yet to prove that she can carry a solo movie. Enchong, on the other hand, is relatively new and is still waiting for a movie that can be called his own.

The lead stars, however, said in several interviews that the billing is not an issue and that they just let Star Cinema take care of that. According to them, what's important is that they became part of a movie this big.

Under the direction of box office director Cathy Garcia-Molina, Four Sisters and A Wedding is showing cinemas nationwide on June 26, 2013.

'Bromance' Gross Now P50-M; Highest-Grossing Movie of Skylight Films

Posted on May 25, 2013 | 4:27 PM

Bromance: My Brother's Romance starring Zanjoe Marudo has grossed P50 million pesos entering into its second weekend according to Star Cinema. The movie, which also stars Cristine Reyes opened in theaters on May 15.

Bromance gross P50 million at the box office

Directed by Wenn V. Deramas and produced by Skylight Films, the movie zoomed to the top of the box office in its first week and continues to make millions with each passing day. This marks the movie by far as the highest grossing film of Skylight Films, beating Corazon: Ang Unang Aswang.

Bromance's box office success was another proof of Direk Wenn Deramas' magic touch. However, Zanjoe Marudo's portrayal as the completely opposite twins Brando and Brandy also earned the praise.

Direk Wenn brought a different flavor to Bromance: My Brother’s Romance from his previous cinema movies—Praybeyt Benjamin, Sisterakas and This Guy’s In Love With You, Mare, all of which broke records at the box office.

“The casting is excellent. Zanjoe Marudo is a revelation, as he essayed both his roles with great versatility. Bromance: My Brother’s Romance is a good vehicle for him to display his range. This is his best movie—his performance is commendable and effortless—and it’s the perfect launching movie for him,” said a review by the Cinema Evaluation Board.

Bromance: My Brother’s Romance also boasts of a hilarious yet no less stellar supporting cast composed of Cristine Reyes (who plays Zanjoe’s love interest Erika) Arlene Muhlach, Joy Viado, Manuel Chua, Boom Labrusca, Joey Paras, Lassy, Nikki Valdez, Maricar De Mesa, Abbie Bautista, Carlo Romero and Jeff Luna.

The movie is still showing in cinemas nationwide.

Be Careful With My Heart Movie, Star Cinema's MMFF 2013 Entry

Posted on May 18, 2013 | 3:50 PM

Hit kilig-serye Be Careful With My Heart starring Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap will reportedly have a film version which will join this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF 2013).

Be Careful With My Heart Movie Version for MMFF 2013

According to a report published Thursday on entertainment news site Philippine Entertainment Portal, Star Cinema's entry to the 39th edition of the annual film festival is a movie version of Be Careful With My Heart.

The hit daytime TV series first aired in July 2012 and since then, the whole nation was hooked with the story of Maya, an aspiring flight attendant who leaves the province for Manila to pursue her dreams and Ser Chief, a widowed businessman who hired Maya as a family maid and helped her realize her dreams.

Due to its immense success, the show has been extended several times and is now close to airing for a year now. According to ABS-CBN chief executive officer Charo Santos-Concio, as long as the public supports the said kilig-serye, it will stay on air.

Be Careful With My Heart, which is directed by Jeffrey Jeturian and Mervyn Brondial is currently the No. 1 daytime series in the Philippines.

If the planned movie version of Be Careful With My Heart for MMFF 2013 will push through, it will be the very first time that a film based on a TV series will join the annual festival. However, it's not the first one to be made into a movie. In 1999, Star Cinema also did the film version of highly successful soap operas Esperanza starring Judy Ann Santos and Mula Sa Puso starring Claudine Barretto and the late Rico Yan.

Do you think Be Careful With My Heart's popularity in television will also translate to the box office success of its planned movie version?
