Sarah Geronimo and Coco Martin movie

Sarah Geronimo and Coco Martin attended the story conference for the said movie last February 6. The movie is another collaboration of Star Cinema and Viva Films and will be directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng.

According to Coco, he was both nervous and pressured working with Sarah in this movie.

"Siyempre 'pag sinabi mong Sarah geronimo, mataas ang expectations ng tao. Sanay ako sa mga indie [films], kumbaga ito ang nakasanayan kong mundo and then ngayon papasok ako sa mundo ng mainstream at si Sarah Geronimo pa yung makakasama ko. Honestly, napakalaking pressure po para sa akin," Coco told ABS-CBN's Mario Dumaual. [WATCH THE VIDEO HERE]

Meanwhile, Sarah is equally honored and pressured to be working with Coco, who is one of the most-awarded actors of his generation.

"Galing galing niya talaga eh so dapat talaga sa pagkakataon na ito, makahabol talaga ako sa kanya," Sarah said.

Sarah and Coco will be joined by actress-host Ruffa Gutierrez in this movie, who said that she's very excited to be working with the singer. She also revealed that it was actually her first time (during the storycon) to meet Coco Martin in person, who she found cute.

Ruffa will be playing Sarah's mentor and will give one of the twists in the story.

The movie will be Sarah and Coco's first big screen team up. However, the two were already paired in the short-lived musical series Idol (stylized as 1DOL) way back in 2010.

It Takes A Man and A Woman Now Second Highest-Grossing Pinoy Film of All Time

Posted on April 19, 2013 | 3:42 PM

After earning P345 million in less than three weeks in cinemas nationwide, the Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz-starrer “It Takes a Man and a Woman” is now officially the second highest-grossing Filipino film of all time and the biggest earning non-Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) local movie.

Miggy-Laida wedding in 'It Takes A Man and A Woman'

The third installment of the hit romantic-comedy film series directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina broke the record of the comedy flick “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin” starring Vice Ganda, which earned P331 million during its theatrical run in 2011. “It Takes a Man and a Woman” is now second in terms of total box-office earnings after the 2012 MMFF entry “Sisterakas” starring the comedy trio of Vice Ganda, Kris Aquino and AiAi delas Alas, which raked P391 million during its run in cinemas nationwide. All three top-grossers– “Sisterakas,” “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin,” and “It Takes a Man and a Woman”–are co-productions of Star Cinema and Viva Films.

Meanwhile, “It Takes a Man and a Woman” screenwriter Carmi Raymundo recently revealed that the much talked about wedding vows of Laida and Miggy that made everyone in cinemas cry were written by Sarah and John Lloyd themselves.

“Direk Cathy and I told Sarah and Lloydie that we want them to write Miggy and Laida’s wedding vows. Gusto ko din kasi marinig from them kung ano sa tingin nila yung learnings ng characters nila,” explained Carmi, who was also the headwriter of the first two installments of the series namely “A Very Special Love” and “You Changed My Life.” “Both were nervous kung kaya ba nila magsulat but they were very excited. When they showed me what they wrote, I knew right away that they wrote from the hearts of their characters. They were so sincere, ang ganda!”

Carmi further shared that Sarah and John Lloyd’s self-made vows were so beautifully written that she almost did not edit it. “Konti na lang ang inayos ko. Their vows made the ending of Laida and Miggy’s love story a thousand times more special because they spoke their own words. As a writer, yun na ang gift ko sa kanila: to let them speak their own words. In the end, parang naging buhay na talaga sila Miggy at Laida,” Carmi related.

Continue to fall in love with Laida and Miggy’s love story in “It Takes A Man And A Woman” still showing on theaters nationwide.

'It Takes A Man and A Woman' Gross P201-M on First Week

It Takes A Man and A Woman opened in theaters Black Saturday (March 30) and in just a matter of 8 days, it managed to rake in more than P200 million. The third installment of the Miggy-Laida film series also topped local box office charts, despite strong competition from Hollywood such as G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

This third and said to be final installment of the country's most successful romantic comedy film series in history is also the highest earning film in the entire franchise surpassing the P179.3 million earnings of A Very Special Love (2008) and will surely beat the P225.2 million ticket sales of You Changed My Life four years ago.

It Takes A Man and A Woman is also poised to be the highest grossing Filipino film of all time and will be crowned so if it surpass the box office success of Sisterakas which grossed around P342 million last MMFF 2012.

Meanwhile, John Lloyd Cruz is very thankful to all those who have already seen the movie.

“Thank you very much. Maraming, maraming salamat po talaga. Thank you ‘ASAP’ for giving me the chance na makapagpasalamat sa lahat ng mga nakapanood na. Sa lahat ng mga hindi pa nakakapanood, please po huwag niyo palampasin,” said John Lloyd speaking in behalf of Sarah Geronimo earlier in ASAP.

Posted on March 31, 2013 | 6:40 PM

It Takes A Man and A Woman Gross P32.6-M on Opening Day; Certified Box Office Hit

The figure was announced by Mico del Rosario, advertising and promotions manager of Star Cinema via Twitter. Showing in 185 cinemas on Black Saturday, the movie is now being screened in about 230 cinemas nationwide due to its box office appeal.
It Takes A Man and A Woman is the third installment in the love story of Laida Magtalas and Miggy Montenegro starting with A Very Special Love, which made P179.3 million in 2008 followed by the sequel You Changed My Life which earned P225.2 million in 2009.

After four years, it is expected that It Takes A Man and A Woman will top the box office success of its predecessors, knowing that the movie might be the last time we will see Laida and Miggy in the big screen.

Since yesterday, movie tickets for It Takes A Man and A Woman have been selling like pancakes and further reports on Sunday said that the movie has already grossed more than P50 million in just 2 days. 'It Takes A Man and A Woman' Gets Highest Rating from Cinema Evaluation Board; 'Rated G' by MTRCB

Posted on March 29, 2013 | 6:18 AM

The third installment of the most successful Filipino movie franchise “It Takes A Man And A Woman,” topbilled by Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz, has been given the ‘A’ grade, the highest rating by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB). The Cathy Garcia-Molina-directed film will hit theaters nationwide this Black Saturday (March 30).

John Lloyd, Direk Cathy and Sarah
The movie also got a 'Rated G' rating from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) which means that “It Takes A Man And A Woman” is appropriate for all ages and can be watched by kids.

According to Direk Cathy, the third part of the Laida (Sarah)-Miggy (John Lloyd) love story is a ‘level up’ of the first two installments. “Iba na ‘yung level ng kilig ng part 3. It’s not about the same girl who’s giggling over her crush. Sa part 3, we’ve taken it a notch higher na hindi lang basta kilig,” she said. “Dito, natuto na sila Laida and Miggy kung paano magmahal. Kaya ‘yung kilig dito, hindi na nanggagaling sa pa-cute. Mas kikiligin ka kasi alam mong mahal na nila yung isa’t isa in the true sense of love.”

“Bagay na bagay ‘yung theme song sa kwento ng part 3 kasi from a girl and a boy, Laida and Miggy have transformed into a man and a woman,” Direk Cathy explained. “It really takes a man and a woman to love kasi love takes more than just the kilig. Kasama sa pagmamahal ‘yung pinagdadaanang problema at ‘yung capability mo to forgive.”

Quick links:
The box-office director further shared that apart from Laida and Miggy, the lead stars themselves, Sarah and John Lloyd, have matured as individuals. “Dati kulitan lang nang kulitan at talagang medyo petty ang mga pinagkikwentuhan nila, anything that would make them laugh,” she related. “Ngayon, meron ng sense ang pinag-uusapan na nila–may about love, how to love a person, how to keep a relationship.”

More than the box-office success, Direk Cathy is proud that their movie franchise has touched a lot of moviegoers’ lives. “We have created a lot of characters na sa pelikula pero sina Miggy at Laida parang hindi sila tao. Para silang characters sa Snowhite at Cinderalla. Kaya lang ‘yung mga ‘yun, babae lang ang bida at ‘yung mga prinsipe nila parang generic. Dito ‘yung prinsipe natin may pangalan, si Miggy,” she said. “Nakakatuwa na nakapagbigay pala tayo ng ganoong klase sa audience na paulit-ulit na pinanonood at hanggang ngayon ay napapakilig pa rin sila. I believe Miggy and Laida provided happiness and entertainment to the audience, and made them believe in love and kilig.”

Co-produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films, “It Takes A Man And A Woman” also features Joross Gamboa, Gio Alvarez, Matet De Leon, Al Tantay, Irma Adlawan, Guji Lorenzana, Rowel Santiago, and Dante Rivero. The film also introduces model-host Isabelle Daza, who will play the character of Belle, the socialite girlfriend of Miggy.

Don’t miss the return of the most successful romantic-comedy movie series “It Takes A Man And A Woman” which will be shown on theaters nationwide on March 30, 2013.

Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz Emotional on 'It Takes A Man and A Woman'

Posted on March 25, 2013 | 10:00 AM

Box-office royalties Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz admitted that they are equally excited, just like the rest of the moviegoers nationwide, for the much-awaited big screen return of two of the most-loved Pinoy movie characters namely, Laida Magtalas (Sarah) and Miggy Montenegro (John Lloyd) via “It Takes A Man And A Woman,” the third installment of the most successful Filipino film franchise co-produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films. “It Takes A Man And A Woman” is set to hit cinemas nationwide on Black Saturday (March 30).

Sarah and John Lloyd with Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina
The Laida-Miggy love story is so special to Sarah and John Lloyd that they both felt challenged in doing the third, and possibly the last installment of the movie franchise.

“Emotional ako sa paggawa ng movie na ito kasi napakasaya ng feeling na after four years ay nagkasama-sama kami ulit nila John Lloyd, Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina, and the whole cast na magagaling lahat. Pero nandun rin ‘yung lungkot kasi baka ito na ‘yung last installment ng movie series na ito na nag-start sa ‘A Very Special Love’ at sinundan ng ‘You Changed My Life,” said Sarah.

“Sana ‘yung naging learnings ng characters namin maalala ng lahat ng manonood. But if there’s one thing that I can really guarantee is that we have a very good ending at lalabas sila ng sinehan na talagang masaya katulad nang kung paano naging masaya sina Miggy at Laida,” John Lloyd expressed.

Like the rest of the nation, Sarah and John Lloyd loved the series even more not only because of the romantic scenes between Laida and Miggy but because of the lessons imparted by the characters. “Syempre nalungkot ako na nagbreak sila Laida at Miggy. Iba ‘yung naituro nu’n sa akin habang ginagawa ko ‘yung pelikula,” shared Sarah. “My character, Laida, has always been a believer of fairytales at dito sa movie, at dito sa movie, makikita mo ‘yung growth niya at maturity niya. At ‘yun ang gusto ko ring ma-apply unti-unti para sa sarili ko.”

John Lloyd also confessed how attached he is with his character Miggy. “Hindi lang naman kami gumagawa ng pelikula para lang may maipalabas. Kapag inaangkin mo kasi ‘yung character, nag-e-exist siya sa buhay mo. So ‘yung struggles at journey niya, nagiging struggles at journey mo rin. ‘Yung mga natutunan niya, natutunan mo din. At kay Miggy, halos nagsabay kasi ang growth namin as a person so kaya ganon na lang ako talaga ka-emotional these past few days. It’s like saying goodbye to a friend,” the actor said.

With the learnings they got from the experiences of Laida and Miggy, Sarah and John Lloyd were even made closer in their love team’s return on the big screen.

“Ito ang pinakamagandang naabot ng relasyon namin ni Sarah bilang magkatrabaho at bilang magkaibigan,” said John Lloyd. “Alam naming marami pa kaming dapat matutunan sa isa’t-isa, which makes it very exciting and inspiring kasi hindi naman dito natatapos ‘yung istorya namin and I’m looking forward to another journey para sa aming dalawa.”

What were the trials that Laida and Miggy faced after their break-up? Is it really the end for their love story or will Laida and Miggy rediscover the magic of the ‘very special lovek they once shared?

Aside from Sarah and John Lloyd, also part of “It Takes A Man And A Woman” are Joross Gamboa, Gio Alvarez, Matet De Leon, Al Tantay, Irma Adlawan, Guji Lorenzana, Rowel Santiago, and Dante Rivero. The film also introduces model-host Isabelle Daza, who will plays the character of Belle, the socialite girlfriend of Miggy.

Don’t miss the return of the most successful romantic-comedy movie series “It Takes A Man And A Woman” which will be shown on theaters nationwide on March 30, 2013.
