9th Cinemalaya 2013 Winners - Vilma Santos, Jasmine Curtis, Sana Dati, Transit

The winners of the 9th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival (Cinemalaya 2013) were revealed Sunday night (August 4) in a ceremony held at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater) in Pasay City.

Jerrold Tarog's Sana Dati and Hannah Espia‘s Transit were the big winners of the night, clinching the most awards in the Director's Showcase and New Breed category, respectively including Best Film.

Meanwhile, Star for all Seasons Vilma Santos was hailed Best Actress for her role as a bit player in Ektra directed by Jeffrey Jeturian. Anne Curtis' sister, Jasmine Curtis-Smith bagged the Best Supporting Actress trophy for her performance in Transit.

Angeline Quinto is a Clown in MMK (July 13)

After almost a year, singer-actress Angeline Quinto is set to return to Asia’s longest-running drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya” on Saturday (July 13).

In the upcoming heavy drama “MMK” episode, Angeline plays Ellah, a loving daughter who is willing to do everything for her family, especially when their father abandoned them for another woman. To make ends meet, Ellah has to work as a clown while studying, which tests her patience not only with kids but also with life’s struggles.

Aside from Angeline, the “MMK” episode will also feature Irma Adlawan, Joey Marquez, Bea Basa, Aldred Gatchalian, Michelle Vito, Deborah Sun, Gio Alvarez, Tanya Gomez, Marc Solis, Ingrid Dela Paz, K-La Rivera, Rufami, and Roden Araneta. It was researched by Akeem Jordan Del Rosario, written by Benjamin Benson Logronio, and directed by Mae Czarina Cruz.

Meg Imperial and Ketchup Eusebio Topbill MMK this February 16

ABS-CBN’s longest-running drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya” will air its special Valentine’s episode this Saturday (February 16) featuring the extra-ordinary love story of the beautiful barrio lass Paz (Meg Imperial) and the not-so-handsome but good hearted guy Andres (Ketchup Eusebio). 

When Andres met Paz, he instantly knew that she was the one for him. Despite not having the ‘face value,’ Andres was determined to do everything to win Paz’s heart. Unfortunately, amid all of Andres’ efforts, one fact remains–Paz has no feelings for him. How far will Andres go just to make Paz love him? Is persistence enough to drive someone to love you back?

A Beautiful Affair Premieres October 29, Main Plot Revealed

Ten years after their successful debut on primetime television, John Lloyd and Bea Alonzo reunite in a mature love story that tackles the dilemma of choosing between love and loyalty in A Beautiful Affair which premieres on October 29 on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida.

Spicing up this sweeping romantic teleserye is actor John Estrada, who stars in his biggest drama series to date. The much-awaited series is one of the highlights of the tenth anniversary celebration of the most successful team of their generation.

Follow the love story of three people who will each face the toughest obstacles in a relationship and will be forced to make a choice between steadfast loyalty and passionate love.

Leon Riego (John Lloyd), a brilliant architect and Gen Saavedra (Bea), an heiress, first meet in Austria as two broken souls. Their mutual attraction will temporarily unburden them of their respective miseries – Leon from the guilt brought by the death of his adoptive mother, and Gen who is trying to move on from the betrayal of a former lover.

Together, they wind up spending the time of their lives by getting on a romantic escapade to Vienna and Salzburg. In each other’s pains they find strength, and in each other’s bitterness they find love.

Despite the undeniable attraction between them, they decide to part ways and fix their lives before choosing to love again.

They meet after a year but, to Leon’s surprise, Gen is already in a relationship with construction magnate Edward (John Estrada) who has been an important figure in his life since childhood and has helped him achieve his dream of becoming an architect.

How will Edward deal with the knowledge of Gen’s encounter with Leon in the past? Who between the two men will Gen really choose? Which will carry more weight for Leon – his love for Gen which he believes will mend his shattered soul or his loyalty to Edward brought by debt of gratitude?

A Beautiful Affair takes full circle with the return of the people who first brought John Lloyd and Bea’s love team to the small screen—now business unit head Laurenti Dyogi and now director Katrina Flores. Dyogi was the director of the love team’s first teleserye, the highly acclaimed and top-rating Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay, while Flores was the headwriter.

Part of the A Beautiful Affair cast are excellent actors Dimples Romana, John Arcilla, Jaime Fabregas, Maritoni Fernandez, Ana Roces, Janus del Prado, and Megan Young together with Jim Paredes and PBB Unlimited Big Winner Slater Young who will appear in their first-ever teleserye.

A Beautiful Affair Final Full Trailer Reveals John Lloyd's Past

ABS-CBN released a final full traielr for the upcoming teleserye A Beautiful Affair topbilled by John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo. The said trailer revealed the past of John Lloyd Cruz's character (Leon) from his childhood until he became an architect.

The trailer also followed Leon to Vienna where he met Bea Alonzo's character (Gen). A broken soul (Leon) had a beautiful affair with the brokenhearted (Gen) back then. However, when they return to the country, Gen will be committed to Leon's adoptive brother and mentor, Edward (John Estrada).

'A Beautiful Affair' Cast and Character Photos

ABS-CBN has released the character photos of the cast of the upcoming teleserye A Beautiful Affair topbilled by John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo.

Dubbed as John Lloyd and Bea's most ambitious project on television to date, A Beautiful Affair was partly shot in the picturesque cities of Vienna and Salzburg in Austria. Adding spice to this sweeping romantic teleserye is dependable actor John Estrada (click here for John Estrada's surprise role).

Directed by Katrina 'Katski' Flores and under the business unit of Direk Lauren Dyogi,  A Beautiful Affair  is expected to air this October 29, 2012, replacing Walang Hanggan. Watch the full trailer here.

ABS-CBN recently release a video teaser for the upcoming teleserye A Beautiful Affair starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo featuring a wedding scene. The series is the comeback teleserye of JLC-Bea tandem in celebration of their 10 years as a love team.

The said series, which pilot week was shot in Vienna, Austria is directed by Katski Flores. It is expected to hit ABS-CBN Primetime Bida this October 29 replacing Walang Hanggan.

The wedding video looks like an original pre-nuptial video that we are seeing nowadays. Drama Prince Gerald Anderson will topbill “Maalaala Mo Kaya” this Saturday (July 7) by portraying the role of Jevon, a loving son who seeks justice for his family that was massacred, leaving his father and brother dead while his mother badly injured and siblings in shock.

Will revenge serve its purpose of giving justice to Jevon’s family? Or is forgiveness the key to the start of their family’s healing from the tragedy?

Gerald Anderson Topbills MMK Massacre Episode this July 7

Action-drama Prince Gerald Anderson will show once again his brilliance as an actor in the July 7 episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK 20).

In the said episode, Gerald Anderson will play Jevon Alteza, a survivor in the massacre of his whole family. Gerald will be joined by PBB Teen Edition 4 ex-housemate Kit Thompson in this another heartbreaking story featured in MMK.

Written by Benson Logronio and directed by Nuel Naval, Gerald Anderson's MMK episode will surely be another talk of the town. Also starring Irma Adlawan, Yogo Singh and Julijo Pisk, this MMK massacre episode will air on July 7 at 7:45 PM.

Will Gerald Anderson see this MMK epsiode on TV or will he attend Sarah Geronimo's birthday concert on July 7 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum? Well, for sure he will be up there on the concert to support his baby girl.

Coco Martin Back to Indie Films via Cinemalaya's Santa Niña

Prince of Indie Coco Martin is back where he started as an actor with an indie film entitled Santa Niña. The movie is one of the competing films in the 2012 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival happening this July 20-29.

Santa Niña is about a two-year old child who was a victim of the lahar in Bacolor, Pampanga way back in 1995. Ten years later, the child's remains were excavated and people were surprised that the body was still intact and had not gone decomposition. The people believed that the child's body was miraculous and since then, the child's father (Coco Martin) worked for the child's sainthood.

Coco Martin will be joined by award-winning and veteran actors in Santa Niña including Alessandra De Rossi , Angel Aquino, Irma Adlawan, Leo Martinez, Nanding Josef, Lui Manansala and Ms. Anita Linda.

Santa Niña is directed by Emmanuel 'Manny' Palo.

Meanwhile, Coco Martin's movie with Angeline Quinto was a success, grossing P29.7 million in just 5 days. He is currently busy with his top-rated series, Walang Hanggan which is reported to be returning with a 'Book 2.'
