The Malacañang Palace has announced the list of nationwide holidays for 2013 through Proclamation No. 655, s. 2013 signed by Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III declaring regular holidays, special non-working holidays and special holiday for schools.
Filipinos can expect at least 4 long weekends this year as indicated by the official holidays. The number of long weekends can possibly increase after the proclamations declaring national holidays for the observance of Eid’l Fitr and Eidul Adha has been issued. The approximate dates of the Islamic holidays will be determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient.
