Kathryn Bernardo Debut: 18 Roses, Candles and Treasures Revealed

Teen Queen Kathryn Bernardo will be celebrating her 18th birthday on March 29 and her debut is one of the most anticipated events by fans and friends alike.

Kathryn Bernardo has revealed to entertainment website Push the men who will participate in her 18 roses. Topping the list is her father Teodoro and brother Kevin, as well as her three fathers in teleseryes, Jhong Hilario (Mara Clara), Dominic Ochoa (Princess and I) and Benjie Paras (Got to Believe).

Also having a chance to dance with Kathryn for the 18 roses are her Princess and I co-stars Enrique Gil, and Khalil Ramos; Pagpag co-star Dominic Roque; Goin’ Bulilit co-alumni Steven Fermo, and John Manalo; Super Inggo co-star Joshua Dionisio; Growing Up director Lino Cayetano and cast member Neil Coleta; ASAP co-host Robi Domingo; family friend Marco Alcantara; make up artist Mike Bawa and stylist John Valle; and her escort, constant on-screen partner Daniel Padilla.

Attending Kathryn's debut party to participate in the 18 candles (which is mixed with the treasures ceremony) are Kris Aquino, Gretchen Barretto, Julia Montes, Miles Ocampo, Aria Clemente, Manilyn Reynes and director Cathy Garcia-Molina.

Also wishing Kathryn happiness for the 18 candles/treasures are Mariko Domingo, Roselle Delgado, Viel Joven, Kristina San Diego, Shaira Ang, Bird Pingoy, Lulu Romero, Cris Navarro, Danilyn Nunga, Gail Angco, Nina Ferrer, Jane Santelices, Rhoda Navallo, Blessie Alejandro, Marissa Yogore, Ara Vidanes, Denise Ochoa and sisters Kaye and Chrysler.

The white, black and pink modern vintage debut party of Kathryn Bernardo on March 29 is expected to be grand and meaningful. According to reports, Kathryn will wear ball gowns created by Francis Libiran for her 18th birthday party.

Gretchen Barretto Starts Taping for Own Teleserye after 'Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala' Guesting

Award-winning actress Gretchen Barretto was a personal choice of Pinoy Soap Opera Queen Judy Ann Santos to play the new character in ABS-CBN’s top-rating primetime drama series “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.”

“It really felt so good that I was personally handpicked by Judy Ann,” said Gretchen, who accepted the role of Attorney Eva Custodio despite the fact that she will soon start taping for her own upcoming teleserye. “It’s really a dream to work with Juday that’s why I did not let the chance pass by. We all know that in her generation, she’s really one of the best, if not the best.”

Gretchen added that through her special participation in “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,” she was able to realize how blessed she is right now. “Sometimes, I forget to be grateful, but I am truly thankful that I have a good career and I get to work with very talented people,” said Gretchen. “It’s flattering to still be very much in the business after so many years and to be a Kapamilya is such a blessing.”

When asked about her insight about the teleserye’s women empowerment advocacy, La Greta said that she totally supports the cause. “I encourage all women to go out, work, and empower themselves because with that, nobody can abuse them. You only get abused because you allow people to do it,” she expressed.

Award-winning actress Gretchen Barretto will soon make a grand comeback to primetime TV via ABS-CBN’s hit drama series “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,” which is topbilled by Pinoy Soap Opera Queen Judy Ann Santos.

In her official Instagram account, La Greta recently posted photos of her while taping for the teleserye. “I love joining this team and I’m loving every minute of it,” said Gretchen in one of her photo captions. In the story of “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,” she will play the role of Attorney Eva Custodio.

Coco Martin and Gretchen Barretto in a 'May-December Love Affair' Movie Concept

Gretchen Barretto and Coco Martin might be working together in a movie sometime soon. In her interview with ABS-CBN showbiz oriented talk show The Buzz on Sunday, Gretchen said that she's open to work with Coco in a movie project.

Coco, according to Gretchen is trying to conceptualize a script about  a May-December love affair where they can again work together. It can be recalled that Gretchen had a guesting in Coco Martin's action drama series Juan Dela Cruz recently.

"Hindi ko pa naiisip iyon pero I’m flattered para maisip ni Coco iyon gawin with me," she said. 

"Lahat ng mga proyekto na dumating sa akin, puro magaganda. Basta na lang nahulog sa akin. So I feel like if we are meant to do a movie with Coco, I’d gladly do it," she added.

Aside from Coco, Gretchen Barretto said that she wanted to work with different actors, more especially those who she haven't work with yet. Gretchen, took her guesting in Toda Max as an example where she will work with most of the cast for the first time.

"Para sa akin, gusto ko makatrabaho lahat ng puwede ko pang hindi nakakatrabaho, mga hindi ko pa nakakasama," she said. "On Tuesday, I’m taping for ‘Toda Max’ and for the first time I’ll be working with Angel Locsin. I’m really looking forward to it, with Pokwang and Vhong Navarro. Gusto ko makilala lahat," she revealed.

There have been no confirmations yet on Gretchen's follow up project after Princess and I but there are reports that she might do the cancelled Alta which ABS-CBN is now resurrecting.

Princess and I Finale: Dasho Jao is the "I" in Princess and I

ABS-CBN's Royal teleserye Princess and I  ended successfully on Friday (February 1). The finale episode revealed the second character in the series' title—Dasho Jao.

In the final scenes of the top-rating series aired Friday night, Dasho Jao (Enrique Gil) has turned into a monk and is seen retelling his journey of love and redemption to a group of children, two years after he decided to spare Mikay/Princess Areeya from marrying him. 

"Tinuruan niya ang puso ko na mahalin ang aking sarili, na hanapin ang aking kalalagyan sa mundo, humingi ng tawad at magpatawad. Minahal niya ako, at mulang binuksan ang puso ko para tumanggap ng pag-ibig. Yes, she taught me how to love unconditionally. And that's the story of the 'Princess and I," Jao said.

Meanwhile, Ashi Behati (Gretchen Barretto) suffered insanity after the failed plan of overtaking Yangdon and accidentally hitting her own son Dasho Jao when she attempted to kill the princess with a gun.

A happily ever after ending was seen for the Princess and Dasho Yuan/Gino, who are engaged to be married  in two years time. Princess and I ended with a celebration at King Anand's (Albert Martinez) palace, with a shot of Gino and Mikay starting to kiss.

'Princess and I' Cast Returns to Bhutan for Finale

The cast of hit ABS-CBN royal teleserye Princess and I will return to Bhutan to shoot for the series finale. According to Enrique Gil, the cast were all excited to shoot the final scenes of Princess and I in Bhutan.

"Lahat kami excited makita 'yung ending ng show, 'yung finale, a big finale, so pag punta namin doon, we're going to shoot it," said Enrique who plays Dasho Jao, a royalty in the fictional Kingdom of Yangdon.

The Princess and I finale will not happen sooner though, even with the revelation of Mikay's (Kathryn Bernardo) real identity as the long-lost crown princess of Yangdon, the climax of the show. On Monday's episode, King Anand had already learned that his daughter was Mikay.

According to lead actress Kathryn Bernardo, there's still a "long journey" ahead for her character since the big revelation is only a climax of the story and there are still challenges ahead in her quest to adjust and learn the ABC's of being a princess.

"Malalaman na rin sa campus na ako 'yung princess. 'Yung mga scenes ngayon namin, ito na 'yung climax, 'yung hinihintay nilang lahat, 'yung revelation, 'yung adjustment ni Mikay sa pagiging princess," Kathryn told ABS-CBN News on the sidelines of the filming of an upcoming episode of Princess and I.

"Mahaba pa 'yung journey ni Mikay," she said, when asked if the soap opera is nearing its end. "Of course hindi lang naman 'yung naging princess siya eh; 'yung buhay niya 'pag princess na siya, and then magsu-shoot kami ulit sa Bhutan," she added.

With Princess and I extended for quite a bit, we can expect more twists and turns happening on the life of our teen princess. Also starring Daniel Padilla, Khalil Ramos, Albert Martinez and Gretchen Barretto, Princess and I airs weeknights on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.

Major characters of ABS-CBN’s no.1 Primetime Bida royal teleserye “Princess and I” recently became nationwide top trending topics on popular microblogging site Twitter because of the heart-pounding fire scene where Kathryn Bernardo’s role, Mikay, fearlessly saved his father Dinoy (Dominic Ochoa) from their burning house.

Because of the wicked plan of Ashi Behati (Gretchen Barretto) that almost risked the life of Yangdon’s long lost princess, TV viewers flooded Twitter with various emotional reactions during and after the fire incident. Princess and I Tops TV Ratings, Mikay's Big Reveal as Yangdon Princess Nearing

With the much anticipated ‘royal revelation’ of Kathryn Bernardo’s character in “Princess and I,” ABS-CBN’s first royal teleserye continues to reign in the Primetime Bida block. 

Based on the data of Kantar Media last Tuesday (September 4), “Princess and I” once again made it on the top spot of the most watched TV shows in the country with its 37.4% national TV ratings, or almost 21 points ahead versus its rival show in GMA, “Luna Blanca” which only got 16.6%.

ABS-CBN's 'Princess and I' Nearing It's Finale, to End by October

The hit ABS-CBN royal teleserye Princess and I is nearing its finale. According to lead actor Enrique Gil,  Princess and I might end on October.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News during the press conference for Amorosa: The Revenge, Skylight Films' latest horror movie, Enrique Gil revealed that Princess and I will not have a book 2 just like Walang Hanggan.

"Sa pagkakaalam ko po wala pong (book 2) at matatapos na po ang Princess and I. But who knows? Malay mo kapag gusto talaga ng tao they can make a part two ng ' Princess and I  but sa ngayon alam ko matatapos na." 

Although there are no plans for a second book yet, Enrique, who played the Yangdon royalty Dasho Jao in the series shared that Princess and I has already been extended from its initial run.

"Ang sinabi sa akin ay by October (tapos na). Actually extended na po kami. In a way ay okay na po 'yon," he said.

Princess and I, which also stars Kathryn Bernardo, Albert Martinez, Khalil Ramos and Gretchen Barretto  had been consistently topping TV ratings since it premiered last April 16. One of the biggest Kapamilya  teleseryes this year, Princess and  I shot its pilot week in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan.

Meanwhile, now that the revelation about Mikay’s ‘royal identity’ draws near, viewers should watch out for the big and exciting scenes in the series.

Kathryn admitted that she was so starstrucked when she had her first scenes with Gretchen, now popularly known as ‘Ashi Behati,’ the despicable mother of Dasho Jao (Enrique Gil).

“I was nervous while doing our sole scene in Bhutan and even until our initial takes here in the Philippines. I was really tensed to work with Ms. Gretchen. Everyone in the set is mesmerized by her beauty,” said Kathryn, who later on realized how fun-loving La Greta is behind the cameras. “She is so cool in the set. She always wants all of us to be happy while working.”

Christian Bautista Joins the Cast of Princess and I

Asiansation Christian Bautista returns to acting via ABS-CBN's royal teleserye, Princess and I. Christian plays the role of Priam in the hit primetime series topbilled by Kathryn Bernardo, Albert Martinez, Daniel Padilla, Enrique Gil, Khalil Ramos and Gretchen Barretto.

After singing the theme song for Princess and I entitled Nag-Iisang Bituin (watch the official music video here), he's now a part of the cast.

Christian's last acting assignment in the local scene was Kampanerang Kuba in 2005 where he played Lorenzo, one of Anne Curtis' leading men. Last year, Christian did a movie in Indonesia titled Jayden's Choir and also starred in the award-winning pan-Asian TV series, The Kitchen Musical.

Christian Bautista's role in Princess and I is somewhat villainous since Priam is a rebel of the Kingdom of Yangdon. Christian donned a long hair for his role. He will be reunited with The Kitchen Musical co-star Art Acuña who plays one of the king's adviser in the ABS-CBN series.

Priam had a past with Ashi Behati played by Gretchen Barretto. In one of the flashbacks, Priam was the one who rescued Behati after the attack on their village which killed his father.

Meanwhile, Christian Bautista will be having a TV special in celebration of his 10th year anniversary in showbiz. Titled The Way You Look At Me, the Christian Bautista 10th anniversary special will air this July 8 on ABS-CBN Sunday's Best.

Ashi Behati's Visit in Manila Stirred Reactions from Fans

Amid the huge following of the hit love quadrangle happening among the teen cast of ABS-CBN’s top-rating primetime series “Princess and I,” TV viewers cannot help but notice the regal presence of the show’s villainess, Ashi Behati, portrayed by award-winning actress Gretchen Barreto.

La Greta recently claimed the spotlight as she stirred up strong emotions among the loyal followers of “Princess and I” since her character arrived in the Philippines to check on her son Dasho Jao, played by young actor Enrique Gil.

Behati’s surprise visit to Manila was such a hit among viewers that it generated various reactions via Twitter –

What will be Ashi Behati’s role in Jao and Mikay’s (Kathryn Bernardo) love story—will she prevent her son from falling in love for a Filipino commoner or will Mikay’s good influence on Jao earn Behati’s approval? Like its story that gets more compelling night after night, the national TV ratings of “Princess And I” continues to leave the competition behind. Based on the combined average of nationwide urban and rural ratings of Kantar Media last June 20, it garnered 39.1% national TV ratings compared to its rival program in GMA, “Luna Blanca” which only got 15.7%, registering a 23.4 difference. The show remains the top 2 most watched TV program in the Philippines, next to “Walang Hanggan.”

Kathryn Bernardo Thankful for the Success of Princess and I

Kathryn Bernardo is thankful for the unrelenting warm support of TV viewers for ABS-CBN’s ‘royal drama,’ “Princess and I.”

“I am grateful that we have consistent high TV ratings and now it’s even getting higher. So I really hope that the viewers continue to follow the adventures of Mikay every night because we are all doing our best to make it much better,” shared Kathryn.

Based on the latest data of Kantar Media, the trending and top-rating drama series topbilled by the ‘primetime princess’ Kathryn together with its powerhouse cast Albert Martinez, Gretchen Barretto, Precious Lara Quigaman, Dominic Ochoa, Enrique Gil, Daniel Padilla, and Khalil Ramos gained a national TV rating of 31.7%, or almost 15 points higher than the 16.8% national TV rating garnered by its rival program in GMA, “Biritera.”

Kathryn dedicated the success of their show to its first-of-its-kind story and the commitment of their team. She said, “Aside from the fact that our story is very light with a touch of drama which Pinoys love; one of ‘Princess and I’s big success factors is the great working relationship of the team especially with our directors, Dado Lumibao and Francis Pasion, because they closely monitor our characters, ensuring we execute it right.”

With Kathryn’s show shining in the Primetime Bida block of ABS-CBN, viewers cannot help but compare her with ‘Mara Clara’ co-lead star Julia Montes, who is currently one of the lead stars of another Kapamilya top-rating primetime teleserye, “Walang Hanggan.”

“Julia is really like a sister to me, so there was never a time that competition became an issue to us,” said Kathryn. “I’m super proud of her because I know very well that their show is doing great too in the ratings. Actually, I’m a fan of ‘Walang Hanggan.”

Meanwhile, along with her hardships to get her father (Dominic)out of prison, Mikay’s (Kathryn) heart will be put to test too with the coming of three ‘princes’ in her life. Who will win Mikay’s love–his bestfriend Kiko (Khalil) who just confessed his love for her; Jao (Enrique) who visits the Philippines to look for himself and for the girl who took his heart; or ‘bad boy’ Gino (Daniel) who irritates Mikay at every encounter?
