Sunday All Stars: Same Artists, Different Format, One Sunday Entertainment

Posted on June 8, 2013 | 10:52 AM

The Kapuso network will air soon the replacement of Party Pilipinas, the defunct Sunday musical variety show of GMA-7. Titled Sunday All Stars, the show promised an all-out fun Sunday afternoon for the whole family.

Sunday All Stars

According to reports and press releases, Sunday All Stars will infuse a new level of noontime TV experience with music and games. Every week, there will also be a showdown of 4 celebrity teams headed by Christian Bautista, Mark Bautista, Jolina Magdangal and Jennylyn Mercado.

SOP and Party Pilipinas mainstays Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Jaya and Janno Gibbs will also be part of Sunday All Stars together with younger generations of Kapuso stars including Heart Evangelista, Lovi Poe, Carla Abellana, Rachelle Ann Go, Julie Anne San Jose, Elmo Magalona, Alden Richards, Glaiza de Castro and a lot more.

In previous reports after Party Pilipinas was axed, it was revealed that 50% of the defunct's show cast members will be part of its replacement and it's not surprising to see the ones above in the new show. After all, they were the stars referred to in the title Sunday All Stars.

Directed by Rommel Gacho, Sunday All Stars "will definitely bring fun and excitement every Sunday afternoon through its world-class performers, ground-breaking concepts, and inventive production numbers this June," said a press release.

On its Facebook page, it was indicated that Sunday All Stars will go head-to-head with longest-running Sunday musical variety show ASAP 18 starting June 16. Can the tested formula of celebrity competitions with loud numbers and extravagant production value save GMA-7's Sunday noontime?

We'll just see on the 16th.

Daniel Padilla, Julie Anne San Jose, Yeng Constantino and Abra Named OPM Young Ambassadors

Posted on June 6, 2013 | 12:32 PM

The Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) has tapped Daniel Padilla, Julie Anne San Jose, Yeng Constantino and rapper Abra (Raymond Abracosa) as their newest "junior ambassadors" in promoting local music to the youth.

Daniel Padilla, Julie Anne San Jose, Yeng Constantino and Abra Named OPM Young Ambassadors

Expected to assist OPM in its promoting activities, these four young artists were chosen not only with their huge fan bases but also because of their accomplishments at this stage in their respective careers.

Yeng Constantino, the oldest of the four at 24 is the very first champion of Pinoy Dream Academy and has released several successful albums and has composed hit OPM songs. Just recently, she was named as music ambassador of Singapore's Academy of Rock.

Daniel Padilla has also released two platinum records and topbilled a sold-out major concert at the Araneta Coliseum last April 30. Another young singer who's very successful in her career is Julie Anne San Jose. The Kapuso artist's debut album recently reached quadruple platinum and her fans' presence in the social media circle is totally undeniable.

Meanwhile, rapper Abra created waves with his music and lyricism. His hit music video Gayuma has already reached more than 22 million views in YouTube and his recent single Ilusyon is also taking off.

OPM President Ogie Alcasid said that the local music scene needs the help of these artist to encourage the youth and make them identify with OPM in this age that foreign music (especially Korean songs) are taking over.

"We’re trying our best to push original Filipino music forward, and we recognize the importance of reaching out to the youth. We want to build a strong connection with them. We appreciate the fact that they [Daniel, Julie Anne, Yeng and Abra] willingly gave us their endorsement. We need their help," Ogie Alcasid told Inquirer in a phone interview on Tuesday.

Daniel Padilla, Abra, Julie Anne San Jose and Yeng Constantino will be formally awarded the OPM junior ambassador title on June 7 at the Pagcor Grand Theater.

Video: Julie Anne San Jose Falls on Party Pilipinas Stage, Elmo Magalona on the Rescue

Posted on January 6, 2013 | 8:32 PM

Singer-actress Julie Anne San Jose accidentally fell on stage while dancing in Party Pilipinas Sunday, January 6.

After Julie Anne's fall, the music stopped and her co-performers and PP staff crowded on her. As seen on Julie Anne's reaction, she was badly hurt (she's even teary eyed and you can feel she's in pain). It was Elmo Magalona who played the hero and rescued Julie Anne from that apparent accident. The gentlemanly gesture of Elmo was applauded by the audience.

JuliElmo did a duet after the accidental fall on stage of Julie Ann San Jose (Party Pilipiinas, January 6)

Julie Anne San Jose's fall and rise embodied the theme of Party Pilipinas that day which is "Stronger" as she continued performing right after and nailed an emotional duet with Elmo Magalona. The scene just showed how good an actress is Julie Anne as the staff confirmed that it was scripted yet Julie Anne's walk right after the duet and her crying game tell otherwise.
