Disease is Phillip Phillips personal choice. He first sang Madcon's Beggin' and put his own spin in it (watch his Beggin' performance here). His 2nd performance, though received restrained praises from the 3 judges.

Jennifer Lopez: It wasn’t the wow performance but it was good

American Idol 2012 Top 3 Song Spoilers

Posted on May 16, 2012 | 2:24 PM

American Idol Season 11 Top 3 Performance night is getting near and many wonder what the Top 3 (Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet and Phillip Phillips) will be singing for May 16 performance show. We got here the complete list of songs that will be included in the song list of American Idol Top 3.

American Idol 2012 Top 3 to Perform Song Choices on May 16
American Idol 2012 Top 3 -  Phillip, Jessica and Joshua will perform 3 songs each on May 16
The American Idol 2012 Top 3 will be singing 3 songs - their own choice, the judges' choice and Jimmy Iovine's choice.

According to American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe, there will be an interesting line up for the Top 3 performance night. He teased with some interesting song choices for the Top 3. Nigel dropped 3 songs that will be sung by any of Jessica, Joshua or Phillip.

The three songs were Imagine, Beggin' and I'll Be There.

If we are to match the songs with the Idol Top 3, here is what we believe each will be singing:

Joshua Ledet - Beggin'
Jessica Sanchez - I'll Be There
Phillip Phillips - Imagine

That is what we predict based on the characteristic of the song which might fit the singers but it will be really difficult to predict who will be singing what song. Personally, I would love to hear Jessica sing Beggin'  for a change.  Phillip can also do his thing with the song but we think this will be given to Joshua.

Imagine  might be a no-brainer for Joshua so we thought he will be singing something else. However, we can also assume that these 3 songs were only for one idol hopeful or at least 2 of those. Maybe, Beggin' and I'll Be There will be both for Joshua Ledet and Imagine will be for Phillip Phillips. It could also do the same for Jessica Sanchez.

At any rate, these are just 3 songs out of the possible 9 (see list below) songs that we will all be hearing come Top 3 performance night, May 16.

Here is the complete list of songs for the Top 3 performance night:
  • “Imagine” – John Lennon
  • “My All” – Mariah Carey
  • “No More Drama” – Mary J. Blige
  • “We’ve Got Tonight” – Bob Seger
  • “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” – Aerosmith
  • “Beggin’” – Madcon
  • “I’ll Be There” – Jackson 5
  • “Disease” – Matchbox 20
  • “I’d Rather Go Blind” – Etta James
What do you think? Which one your idols will sing?

Skylar was joined in the bottom 2 by Hollie Cavanagh.

Skylar has been on top of the Entertainment Weekly's Idol rankings for 2 consecutive weeks now and also other websites' bet to win the whole thing. Her elimination tonight might be reflective of being the less popular idol hopeful even though she gave powerful performances the last few weeks.

Skylar Laine sang Fortunate Son by Creedence Clearwater Revival and Dusty Springfields' You Don't Have To Say You Love Me during last night's American Idol Top 5 solo performances. She also joined the girls' trio and performed Jackie Wilson's Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher and Higher.

American Idol 2012 Top 7 Redux Results Night: Colton Dixon Eliminated

Posted on April 20, 2012 | 4:43 PM

Early favorite Colton Dixon got the boot on the Top 7 Redux Elimination (Results Night) of American Idol Season 11, April 19 (April 20 in the Philippines). The singing heartthrob from Tennessee garnered the lowest number of votes and was sent packing without the chance to sing for his life.

Apparently after last week's shocking elimination, the only judges save was used on Jessica, and thus the one who gets the lowest number of votes will be automatically eliminated from the competition.

Colton Dixon was joined by Hollie Cavanagh and Elise Testone in the bottom three.

Colton performed Lady Gaga's Bad Romance and Earth, Wind and Fire's September during last night's performance show. If you happen to miss last night's performance, you can watch all the Top 7 redux performances here.

The competition is now getting stiffer with only six contestants left battling for the Idol title. Who among Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez, Elise Testone, Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine will be making the top 5 next week?

It seems that girl power is working now on American Idol Season 11. With only 2 boys versus 4 girls, we might have a girl winner this season after Jordin Sparks in 2007.

American Idol 2012 Top 7 Results Night: Jessica Sanchez is Saved!

Posted on April 13, 2012 | 9:15 AM

Fil-Mexican-American Jessica Sanchez could have been eliminated on tonight's American Idol Season 11 Top 7 Results Show, April 12 (April 13 in the Philippines) if not for the judges' save. Jessica is the one who got the lowest number of votes after last night's performance.

A very shocking results show was seen wherein frontrunners Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet falls on the bottom 3 together with hot seat semi-regular, Elise Testone.

After learning who were in the bottom 3 tonight, judge Steven Tyler already said that no matter what, they will use their save vote on any of those three singers in the hot seat.

Jessica Sanchez had to sing Nobody's Supposed to Be Here (and Jessica is not supposed to be there in the bottom 3) by Deborah Cox for the save. She was stopped midway into her song after judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez used their one save for the season to keep her on the show.

Watch Jessica's saving moment below:

In last night's performance show, Joshua Ledet was the only one who got the judges' standing ovation for his performance of Bruno Mars' Runaway Baby. Jessica, meanwhile received positive reviews for her soulful rendition of Jazmine Sullivan's Stuttering, getting a 'fish slayer' tag from judge Randy Jackson.

If you happen to miss last night's performance show, watch here.

Next week, 7 people will still go head to head to have the chance to go to the American Idol finale in May.  But unlike the previous results show, the judges don't have the power now to save and it will all be up to America. Two idols might be going home next week, as with the previous seasons.

Watch Colton Dixon, Skylar Laine, Phillip Phillips, Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez, Elise Testone and Hollie Cavanagh on next week's Idol perfromance.
