2012 Anak TV Makabata Star Awardees: Kapamilya Stars Dominate List

The 2012 Anak TV Makabata Star Awardees have been named and Kapamilya actor Coco Martin topped the list among male awardees while Kapuso anchor Jessica Soho grabbed the female counterpart. The awardees will be honored on December 4 at the annual Anak TV Awards.

An advocacy of the Anak TV Inc, this years list stemmed from a national survey of the most favored, most child-sensitive TV personalities. A total of 19 Kapamilya, 4 Kapuso and 2 Kapuso/Kapatid personalities comprised the 2012 Anak TV Makabata Star awardees.

Julius Babao, Korina Sanchez, Gary Valenciano, Mike Enriquez and Mel Tiangco are among those who were already elevated to the Hall of Fame last year.

Be Careful With My Heart Extended Until Mid-2013

Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap both feel blessed with how 2012 turned their careers around through their undisputed no.1 daytime TV program “Be Careful With My Heart,” which was recently announced to be extended until middle of 2013.

“Our show became the greatest gift we got this year,” said Jodi. “The privilege given to us to be a source of inspiration to many is already a very nice gift. I think it’s not only the audience who gets inspired by our characters because we, ourselves, learn so much from them.”

“The success of ‘Be Careful With My Heart’ is such a blessing. I would say that we are blessed to have everything feel-good in the show,” shared Richard. “And we’re really thankful for the support of the fans and we assure them that we’ll do our best to make you happy everyday.”

Meanwhile, when asked about their plans for Christmas, Jodi and Richard will said that they will spend it with their families.

“Christmas will be spent with my loved ones. I’m planning to cook for noche buena for my family,” said Jodi. “We are also going out of the country for a vacation. That’s my Christmas/New Year treat for them.”

“I plan to spend as much time as I can with my wife and kids this Holiday season to make up for all the times I haven’t been able to be with them due to my taping schedule,” said Richard.

Be Careful With My Heart Trounces Rival in TV Ratings with a 19 Point-Deficit

In its new 11:15am timeslot, ABS-CBN's Primetanghali romantic-comedy TV series "Be Careful With My Heart," topbilled by Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap, continued to reign daytime (6AM to 6PM) leadership as proven by the success of its episode on Monday (November 12).

Based on the data from Kantar Media, the kilig-serye that features the new-age fairytale romance of Maya (Jodi) and her Sir Chief (Richard) garnered a national TV rating of 25.9%, or almost 19 points higher than its rival program in GMA “Chef Boy Logro: Kusina Master,” which only got a 7.4%.

With its exceptional national TV rating, “Be Careful With My Heart” did not only score more than triple its competition but also claimed the fifth spot in the top 20 most watched programs in the country and even overthrown all of GMA primetime programs.

'Be Careful With My Heart' Beats Cielo de Angelina and One True Love in TV Ratings

ABS-CBN’s well-loved Primetanghali kilig-serye, “Be Careful With My Heart” won in national TV ratings over GMA’s two newly launched morning teleseryes, maintaining its daytime leadership in the country.

Based on latest data from Kantar Media on Monday (October 22), the Jodi Sta. Maria-Richard Yap starrer scored a national TV rating of 23.1% versus the pilot episodes of “One True Love: A Second Chance” which only got 8% and “Cielo de Angelina” that only rated at 10.2%.

Like her leading lady, Richard (now popularly known as ‘Sir Chief) believes that there is no problem with having competition. “I think competition is always healthy. That’s okay because we’ll strive to do our best always,” he said. “But honestly, we’re not really competing with anyone. We just want to make our TV viewers happy.”

Jodi Sta. Maria Open to Friendly Competition With Upcoming Rival Teleseryes

ABS-CBN’s primetanghali queen Jodi Sta. Maria said that she is pleased with everything that has been happening with their top-rating romantic-comedy series “Be Careful With My Heart” and welcomes the friendly competition that the new teleseryes of the rival network will bring to the daytime block.

“There is no problem with that. It’s just a friendly competition,” said Jodi, who is now more popularly known by the viewers as Maya, the trusted househelp of ‘Sir Chief,’ played by Richard Yap. “If their shows will also promote good values, optimism, and will also send out good vibes to the TV viewers, I think it would be great. Also, if the new shows will mean more jobs for everybody, that would be fun!”

Despite the competition, Jodi strongly believes that the public will continue to support their show mainly because of its feel-good effect. “I must say that they’ll keep on following us because of the lightness of our story,” she said. “Everytime they watch ‘Be Careful With My Heart’ the viewers forget about their problems. They can relate with our characters. And every single day, they learn something new from Maya.”

Aside from the daily dose of good vibes and romance, Jodi shared that fans should never miss the next episodes of “Be Careful With My Heart” because these will capture the unique closeness of Maya and Sir Chief.

Richard Yap Signs Exclusive Contract with ABS-CBN, Now A Certified Kapamilya

Richard Yap, who rose to fame by playing Papa Chen in the hit series My Binondo Girl and now lightening up every morning  as Sir Chief in Be Careful With My Heart has signed a two-year exclusive contract with ABS-CBN last October 1.

Present in the contract signing are ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio, business unit heads Ginny Monteagudo-Ocampo and Deo Endrinal and Channel Head Cory Vidanes.

Richard Yap is expected to join another TV series in the coming months (early reports claimed that he will be part of Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw, the teleserye of Kris Aquino, Anne Curtis and Robin Padilla). Aside from that, Papa Chen will also be having a movie under Star Cinema and a solo album.

Richard Yap can definitely sing evident in his Be Careful With My Heart album recordings so it was a nice move for Star Records to give him his solo album as he can cater to a variety of audience.

A former businessman, Richard now concentrates on his acting career. While considered a heartthrob by many, Papa Chen downplayed the term and said that he's just an ordinary handsome guy, kidding aside.

Richard said that his wife of 19 years, Melody is not jealous over the attention he is getting from female fans and has always been very supportive.

When asked if he is open to accept sexy roles, the 45-year-old actor said, “I think that would be a part of a destruction of my career. Its too late for me!”

ABS-CBN Widens It's Reach In More Than 10 Provinces

ABS-CBN Corporation, the country’s largest and leading multimedia conglomerate, has started expanding its reach nationwide building more than ten new relay stations and enhancing the TV and radio coverage of its existing regional stations.

ABS-CBN Regional Network Group (RNG) head Louis Benedict Bennett said ABS-CBN will soon expand in areas such as Oriental Mindoro, Davao Oriental, Antique, and Negros Occidental while the TV power upgrades and antenna retrofit enhancements in Tacloban, Dagupan, Baguio, Bacolod, and Cagayan de Oro are underway.

“We are thrilled to announce that ABS-CBN will pioneer the building of new stations in these areas. These new relay stations will also receive locally produced shows, something the rival networks don’t have,” said Bennett.

The local shows produced by ABS-CBN RNG include newscasts, morning programs, game shows, and local public service programs that feature homegrown talents and stories that happen in their region.

For instance, he pointed out that ABS-CBN RNG’s youngest regional station in Palawan already airs locally relevant news and original content through “TV Patrol” and “Mag TV Na.”

To date, the Kapamilya network has the most expansive regional reach in the country with its established stations in Luzon (Appari, Batanes, Tuguegarao, Baguio, Pampanga, Dagupan, Batangas, Laoag, Isabela, Naga, Legazpi, and Palawan) Visayas (Cebu, Bacolod, Tacloban , Roxas, Kalibo, Dumaguete, and Iloilo) and Mindanao (Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Butuan, Zamboanga, Iligan, Cotabato, Dipolog, Koronadal, and General Santos).

Some of today’s hottest Kapamilya stars, meanwhile, will celebrate the Peñafrancia Festival with Bicolanos at the Plaza Quezon, Naga City this Saturday (September 8) at 4:00 p.m. Stars of the top-rating daytime show “Be Careful With My Heart” Richard Yap and Jodi Sta. Maria, together with “Walang Hanggan” stars Coco Martin and Joem Bascon, and Maja Salvador will add fun to the fest through games and musical performances.

The stars will visit to thank loyal viewers for making the Kapamilya channel the leading TV network nationwide. Data from Kantar Media show that ABS-CBN obtained an average audience share of 43% nationwide on total day viewership, or 12 points higher than rival GMA’s 31%. ABS-CBN’s primetime block (6PM-12MN) also reigned in Total Luzon, hitting an average primetime share of 43% vs GMA’s 32%. In the Visayas, ABS-CBN’s primetime viewership averaged 56% vs GMA’s 25%, while in Mindanao, it registered 62% as compared to GMA’s 18%.

Be Careful With My Heart Hits Highest TV Rating of 26.4%

Philippine’s no.1 daytime program “Be Careful With My Heart” recently reached its all-time high 26.4% national TV ratings last Tuesday (August 21), since it premiered last July. 

Based on the latest data of Kantar Media, the ‘kilig-serye’ topbilled by Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap registered almost a 16-point lead versus its rival program in GMA, “Chef Boy Logro: Kusina Master” which only got 10.7%. 

TV viewers continue to follow the funny and unique relationship of Yaya Maya (Jodi) and his ‘Sir Chief’ Mr. Lim (Richard) especially now that Maya is back to school to pursue her ultimate dream to become a flight stewardess. Will ‘Sir Chief’ support her until the end? Or will love get in the way?

Be Careful With My Heart, Certified Money-Maker!

ABS-CBN executives recently attested to the unprecedented success of the country’s no.1 daytime TV program “Be Careful With My Heart” as it did not only boost the ratings performance of the network but also contributed in the double-digit growth in airtime revenues that began in August.

“Richard Yap and Jodi Sta. Maria’s soap is turning out to be the biggest surprise hit,” remarked Vivian Tin, ABS-CBN’s head of customer business development group.

According to ABS-CBN chief financial officer Rolando Valdueza, advertising revenues show signs of strengthening in the second half of the year because of the network’s top-rating shows like “Be Careful With My Heart.” He said, “We’re also experiencing double-digit growth in terms of airtime starting August and if we can sustain this by the end of the year, we may exceed P1.3 billion.”

Meanwhile, “Be Careful With My Heart” continues to perform better in the ratings game. Based on the latest data of Kantar Media last Thursday (August 16), the romantic-comedy series is now of the fourth spot of the country’s top overall TV programs with 23% national TV rating, or 16 points higher than its rival program in GMA, “Kapuso Movie Festival” which only got 6.9%.

Since it started airing last July, “Be Careful With My Heart” managed to beat different GMA programs including “Chef Boy Logro: Kusina Master,” “Baker King: The Big Return,” and now “Kapuso Movie Festival.”
