My Lady Boss Gross P19.4-M in 2 Weeks; Fours Sisters and A Wedding Hits P145-M in 3 Weeks | Box Office Mojo

Star Cinema's Four Sisters and A Wedding grossed P145 million after three weeks of showing in cinemas according to third party tabulator Box Office Mojo (BOM). The movie, which premiered with strong Hollywood competitors is a certified box office hit.

Meanwhile, GMA Films and Regal's My Lady Boss had a different fate, raking only P19.4 million after two weeks in theaters. The movie can be considered as flop, considering that it was topbilled by Kapuso queen Marian Rivera and another prime artist of GMA-7, Richard Gutierrez.

Kaye Abad and Denise Laurel Caught in a Brawl in 'Annaliza'

Annaliza lead star Kaye Abad said she’s still having a hard time portraying the role of Stella in ABS-CBN’s hit primetime family drama because the character is very different from her true personality off-cam.

“It’s really a challenge for me to play an antagonist. It drains me so much after takes. Whenever I watch Annaliza, I find my character too loud,” Kaye said.

She may find it challenging but Kaye remains thankful to ABS-CBN that she was given the chance to take on a different role for a change.

“I can say that I am actually working as an actress by playing Stella. Crying and making the audience sympathize with my character are so easy for me. Playing the bad girl is just really tough and requires effort from me,” she added.

This week, avid viewers will once again see Stella’s cruelty as an encounter ensues between her and Isabel (Denise Laurel).

Isabel confronts Stella for hurting Annaliza and criticizes the way she disciplines the young girl. The confrontation will then lead to an intense brawl with Stella finally unleashing her long kept rage for Lazaro (Patrick Garcia) through his wife Isabel.

Where will this encounter lead to? How will this affect the way Stella treats Annaliza?

The MMK episode of Angeline Quinto is the most-watched program last weekend garnering a nationwide TV rating of 36.5%, even higher than Paulo Avelino's MMK the prior week. In the said episode, Angeline plays a clown to support her family.

Meanwhile, The Voice of the Philippines is truly a phenomenon sustaining its high TV ratings week by week. On Saturday, it ranked third after MMK and Wansapanataym while on Sunday, it was the most-watched program.

National TV Ratings (July 12): Anna Karenina Enters Top 3; Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala Down

Kapuso primetime show Anna KareNina made it to the top 3 most-watched programs nationwide on Friday (July 14) according to Kantar Media/TNS.

The said show followed top program Juan Dela Cruz and tied on 2nd place were ABS-CBN flagship newscast TV Patrol and new primetime bida offering Muling Buksan Ang Puso.

Meanwhile, Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala got lower ratings after it was placed at a later timeslot. When it occupied the timeslot of Muling Buksan Ang Puso, it registered 30% plus ratings while its predecessor hasn't achieved that feat yet. Was it a wrong move for ABS-CBN?

Penelope Matanguihan, ex-Pinoy Idol Finalist Joins Team Apl of The Voice of the Philippines

Former Pinoy Idol finalist Penelope Matanguihan was invited to the Blind Auditions of The Voice of the Philippines as seen on the show's July 14 episode.

The 21-year-old fresh graduate from Batangas joined Pinoy Idol of GMA-7 in 2008 when she was just 16 and finished in 7th place to the winner, Gretchen Espina. Penelope, a perennial singing champion in contests and raring to fight for her family, was visited by host Robi Domingo to bring the good news.

Performing Beyonce's Love on Top, Penelope made three chairs to turn for her, and later chose Apl de Ap  over Sarah Geronimo and Lea Salonga as her coach.

Japs Mendoza Duets with Bamboo in The Voice of the Philippines

The Voice of the Philippines artist Japs Mendoza got to perform with coach Bamboo Manalac on the show's July 14 episode. Japs and Bamboo did a duet on the latter's hit Truth, which Japs sang during his Blind Auditions.

Japs said that he idolized Bamboo and felt the groove of the song. However, the rocker didn’t turn his chair for him. Instead, coach Lea Salonga was the one who pushed her button for the 16-year-old Bulacan native.

"I will teach you how to find your own voice. That’s why I’m so excited I turned my chair for you," Lea told Japs Mendoza.

Enrique Gil Tops 100 Sexiest Men in the Philippines 2013 List

Actor Enrique Gil is voted as the "Sexiest Man in the Philippines for 2013" in the annual poll of 100 Sexiest Men conducted by the country's leading entertainment blog, Starmometer.com. 

Enrique Gil beats last year winner Coco Martin who drops to no. 4 this year. Coco won the title twice, first in 2010 followed by his top place finish last year. Meanwhile, Quen finished 8th last year.

Completing the top 10 sexiest men in the country for 2013 are Xian Lim (#2), Matteo Gudicelli (#3), Aljur Abrenica (#5), Slater Young (#6), Sam Milby (#7), Gerald Anderson (#8), Paulo Avelino (#9) and Ser Chief himself, Richard Yap (#10).

Eugene Domingo on Toni Gonzaga: "Tupperware"

Comedienne Eugene Domingo indirectly called multimedia star Toni Gonzaga as "plastic" after Toni mistakenly called her as Eugene Dominguez on her The Buzz guesting Sunday, July 14.

The Buzz host Toni Gonzaga interviewed Eugene, who is promoting her upcoming movie Tuhog under Skylight Films, the independent film arm of Star Cinema. While mentioning the names of the cast, Toni had blundered on Eugene's surname.

Toni blushed in embarrassment after the incident which forced Eugene to throw jokes about the matter. She got back on Toni by changing her surname to Gonzales. The latter even stood up and showed Toni how large her name was written on the monitor and other promotional posters in the studio.

In defense Toni said that she just inadvertently mixed-up Eugene's surname with that of co-star Leo Martinez, the reason her mouth blurted Eugene Dominguez. 

Meanwhile, Eugene, kidding aside, said that Toni Gonzaga endorsing "Tupperware" is just perfect, since she was claiming as Eugene's friend yet she doesn't know the latter's surname. 

Knowing Eugene as a comedienne, the comment was made to save Toni from further embarrassment and lighten up the situation. She even clarified to all that her name is "Eugene Domingo" before the show went to a gap. Watch the video below.

Eugene Domingo and Toni Gonzaga became close on the set of Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi, a 2011 Star Cinema movie which also stars Zanjoe Marudo and Wendell Ramos.

Paul Jake and Melissa Ricks Break up Confirmed

Former PBB housemate Paul Jake Castillo and actress Melissa Ricks have already called it quits after a year of being together. Paul Jake has confirmed the reports about the break up on The Buzz, Sunday.

Prior to Paul Jake's admission, rumors about their break up surfaced because of the controversial Instagram posts of Melissa Ricks. The former, however revealed in the interview that they separated in a good way.

"Yes, we are perfectly fine. Yes, we are friends. There’s no bad breakup, no bad blood," Paul Jake said.

Melissa and Paul Jake became a couple in 2012. In her Kris TV interview early this year, Melissa turned emotional as she shared her happiness to finally found real love with Paul Jake.

"Siyempre when I go into a relationship, I want it to last talaga. Hindi naman ako yung type na I will entertain someone just for the sake of entertaining them 'ay gusto kong magpaligaw, ay gusto kong maraming nanliligaw sa akin.' (Gusto ko yung pagmatagalan), hindi pangsandalian lang. After all that I'd been through, sobrang hulog ng langit (si Paul)," said Melissa on the interview.

Meanwhile, Paul Jake would rather concentrate on his businesses rather than finding someone new after the break up. "Siguro wala muna," he said when asked if he is looking for a new love. "I’d rather concentrate on something else, business particularly."

Melissa Ricks, who is currently on vacation, is still mum on the break up. Many netizens shared their sentiments about the separation, telling Melissa, kidding aside that she should stay away from guys named 'Jake.'

Before Melissa and Paul Jake became sweethearts, the actress has had a failed relationship with actor Jake Cuenca.

Iya's birthday production number was much anticipated not only by her fans but also the ASAP hosts because she kept on giving a surprise every year. Last year, she did an aerial dance number (watch it here), the first time that an ASAP host and performer did the act on the show.

Glee Star Cory Monteith Dead at 31

Glee star Cory Monteith was found dead in his hotel room at Vancouver's Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel Saturday, several reports have confirmed. He was 31.

Cory Monteith (May 11, 1982 – July 13, 2013)

"We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate. We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss," said his publicist, Melissa Kates.

According to reports, Cory Monteith, who plays Finn Hudson in the hit musical TV series Glee, was found dead at noon on the hotel's 21st floor. He checked into the hotel on July 6, and was expected to check out on Saturday. When he missed his checkout time at noon, hotel staff went to his room and found him.

The cause of Cory's death is still undetermined but Vancouver police said that there was no indication of foul play. An autopsy is scheduled on Monday to find out the reason for the Glee star's passing.

Police said that Cory had several guests on his hotel room at one point Friday night. However, hotel surveillance video caught him returning to his room alone early Saturday morning.

Cory Monteith admitted his struggles with substance abuse since he was 13. Early this year, he spent time in a rehab, checking into a drug addiction treatment facility in April. Vancouver police would not confirm yet whether any drug paraphernalia was found in his room nor this has something to do with his death.

Meanwhile, Glee executive producers, 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Broadcasting Co. has released a statement on Cory's death.

"We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones."

Apl de Ap and Abra on GGV (July 14)

The Voice of the Philippines coach Apl de Ap will be Vice Ganda's special guest this Sunday (July 14) on Gandang Gabi Vice. Witness Vice Ganda's hilarious antics and how coach Apl reacts. 

"Bakit Apl de Ap? Bakit hindi mango de mang, caimito de cai, durian de dur?" Vice asked Apl. The GGV host also tried to audition for a spot on The Voice and eventually, Team Apl. However, Apl de Ap's kalokalike entered the scene.

Aside from coach Apl, rapper Abra also returned on GGV and once again showcased his fliptop skills. It can be recalled that Abra trended on Twitter the first time he guested on GGV where he had a battle with Vice.

Don't miss Gandang Gabi Vice this Sunday (July 14) after The Voice of the Philippines. Of course, don't forget that after GGV, ABS-CBN will air Daniel Padilla's Birthday concert at the Araneta Coliseum last April 30.
